The Lambl's family was a part of the famous intellectual family in Bohemia in the second half of the 19th century. The Lambl's brothers were respected experts in their profession. František Sudimír became a highly educated economic officer, Karel Milan was a highly educated economic pedagogue, Vilém Dušan was a very famous doctor and Jan Baptista was a highly educated agricultural expert and at the same time he worked as a organizer of the economic school systém. Eight of the brothers and sisters lived to an adult age, four sisters (Marie, Barbora, Eliška, Anna) and four brothers. All the brothers got married and set up their own families, only one of the sisters - the youngest Ann, got married. The brothers and sisters took a part in the Bohemia patriotic life (for example Vilém Dušan was politically active in 1848, he was in correspondence, apart from others, with Karel Havlíček). The sisters then were involved in the women's society mainly. All brothers and sister made up a compact group for the duration of seventy years. They kept the warmly family relationships and supported each other. The brothers and sisters have not lost contact during their adult age. Josef Jiránek ve světle pražských pramenů / Josef Jiránek in the light of the Prague's archive sourcesKřivský, Václav January 2011 (has links)
The thesis focuses on virtuoso pianist, teacher, musical theoretician and composer Josef Jiránek (1855 - 1940). The thesis draws from Josef Jiránek's own estate, as well as resources kept at various archive institutions in Prague. It underlines Josef Jiránek's merit as regards the art of the piano and piano education in particular, while emphasizing Hugo Riemann's influence on his music-teaching as well as theoretical ideas. In the light of the Prague resources, Josef Jiránek may be viewed as a follower of the traditional interpretation legacy of Bedřich Smetana. Nonetheless, by further elaborating Smetana's legacy from a purely scientific perspective and with his analytical and rational approach to piano work, Josef Jiránek had indeed largely contributed to the development and evolution of piano education and piano reproduction art - regardless of the fact that his ideas and methods were later overcome. The objective of this thesis is to open a gateway that would attract greater attention of musicologists to Josef Jiránek, who has been on the periphery of their interest and whose true picture remains hidden under the label "Bedřich Smetana's pupil".

Věčné jinošství Jiřího Karáska ze Lvovic / The Eternal Boyhood of Jiří Karásek ze LvovicKolařík, Karel January 2012 (has links)
The thesis attempts to describe the life and work of Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic through an analysis of his lifestyle, i.e. the way in which he organized, embellished and individualized his life. Karásek sought to shape his existence as an artwork, in accordance with the inspirational concepts of the contemporary and antecedent thinkers and artists (e.g. Oscar Wilde, Walter Pater and Maurice Maeterlinck). He accented its integrity and orientation towards beauty. In accord with his aesthetic vision (and his literary work) Karásek conditioned beauty with sadness and pain and attempted to emphasize melancholic beauty, unity in disunion. For that purpose he would accentuate particularly the disintegrative, critical elements, evoking the impression of unsuccessful, self-destructive endeavor to reach life's high ideal. This corresponded with his tragic concept of the artist immolating himself for his Art. I approach Karásek's lifestyle through the use of the terms youth and (eternal) boyhood, which Karásek himself employed as symbols of mournfully beautiful existence in his literary work. I define a youth - in accordance with the romantic and symbolist interpretation - as a person at odds with reality (contemporary truths, customs and rules), a solitary, unique being, trying to construct a new world - only...

Josef Mocker: výběrová edice architektovy osobní korespondence. / Josef Mocker: Architect's Selected Personal Correspondence.Ponzerová, Petra January 2022 (has links)
A comprehensive monograph covering the life and life's work of architect Josef Mocker (22 November 1835 - 16 January 1899) has not yet been published, however, there are a number of partial works by individual historians, especially art historians, which explore Mocker's work in depth. In addition to numerous designs, building projects, and applied liturgical art, Mocker's life's work was primarily the completion of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert at Prague Castle in 1872-1899. And while there is a fairly widespread awareness of Mocker's extensive work, sadly, only little is known about his personal life. This thesis thus aims to make available a part of the surviving correspondence from the period 1871-1882 in the form of an edition of sources, allowing a glimpse into the life and thoughts of the architect Josef Mocker in his own words. Given the private nature of the letters, the paper departs from a purely artistic appreciation of the architect's work and views Josef Mocker more as a historical figure. The emphasis is placed on understanding the environment that surrounded him in a cultural and historical context in the period before starting a family. The thesis thus focuses more on understanding the environment from which Josef Mocker emerged and which...

Program českého dekadentního hnutí a otázka intertextuality. Dílo Miloše Martena / Program of the Czech Decadent Movement and the Question of Intertextuality. Tho Work of Miloš MartenKantoříková, Jana January 2018 (has links)
The Program of the Czech Decadent Movement and the Question of Intertextuality. The Work of Miloš Marten This thesis explores the work of Miloš Marten (1883-1917) seeking to analyse its decadent narrative as a modern narrative that brings into play the unity between the pinnacle and the decline. It departs from the comparison between the style and interpretation of the two versions of Cyklus rozkoše a smrti (orig. The Cycle of delight and death; 1907 and 1917/1925) and the study of the realisations of this work. For this purpose the study contextually examines the conceptions of "intertextuality" from fin de siècle authors-critics, meaning their conceptualisations of similarity and/or identity of literary works which frequently involve a confluence of degeneration theory, the argument of the non-ethical nature of plagiarism and theory of decadence. All were often used as instruments of disqualification as well as justifications for a modern aesthetics and style. Reconstitution of Marten's theoretical reflection on artistic genres evidences his research of a harmonizing modern culture within an anti-syncretic tendency: mythology and revolt against myth Order being shifted to tragedy and parable, while the novel is designed as an analytical-critical synthesis. Applying contemporary approaches to...
