No. of bitstreams: 0 / Os Programas Interlaboratoriais (PIs) de proficiência são parte integrante do processo de obtenção de confiabilidade metrológica para medições e resultados analíticos gerados em laboratórios, ambientes de prática da atividade metrológica. Entre as diretrizes estratégicas do Comitê Brasileiro de Metrologia (CBM) estão incentivar a implantação de PIs que permitam aos laboratórios verificar e demonstrar a confiabilidade de seus resultados e acreditar provedores de PIs. O Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas do Estado de São Paulo IPT, órgão subordinado à Secretaria de Desenvolvimento do Estado de São Paulo, apesar de ter sido um dos pioneiros na oferta de PIs, não é atualmente um grande provedor. O objetivo desta pesquisa é propor um modelo de estrutura organizacional de provedor de Programas Interlaboratoriais (PIs), aplicado ao Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas do Estado de São Paulo IPT. O desenvolvimento deste modelo se apoia em revisão teórica, em estratégias advindas da análise SWOT do estudo de dez programas interlaboratoriais oferecidos pelo IPT no período de 2000 a 2009, em fatores condicionantes do IPT, em políticas governamentais atuais, em modelos de estrutura existentes no mercado e em componentes principais de uma estrutura organizacional. Study of student attitude toward two contrasting physics laboratory designs.Page, Gordon G. January 1968 (has links)
A study of the attitudes of students toward physics laboratory programs was hypothesized to be one method of determining the relative probability with which these laboratory programs could succeed in fulfilling two primary objectives: (1) providing a knowledge of some basic concepts and experimantal techniques in physics, and (2) developing a high degree of interest in physics. This supposition was based upon the positive correlation between attitude toward a learning situation and achievement and interest in the situation, reported to have been found in previous studies investigating attitudes and their relationship to learning.
To measure the attitudes of students toward the physics laboratory, an attitude scale was developed through sound methods of scale construction. Studies were completed .investigating attitudes as measured by this scale and their relationship with achievement in the laboratory and interest in physics. The results of these studies not only supported the hypothesis that the predicted relationship did exist, but also furnished evidence that the scale possessed construct validity.
The function of the attitude scale in this study was to determine which of two physics 110 laboratory programs at the University of British Columbia was more favorably rated by students. One program was patterned upon traditional laboratory design (control program), while the other was based upon recent trends in laboratory philosophy and design (experimental program). Students worked in these programs for three months.
The attitude scale was administered before these programs commenced, and at their completion. The results of these administrations disclosed that the experimental program was rated by students to be significantly more favorable than the control program, which in view of the relationship found to exist between attitude as measured by the attitude scale, and achievement in the laboratory and interest in physics, suggested that the experimental program was more capable of providing a knowledge of some basic concepts and experimental techniques in physics, as well as developing a higher degree of interest in physics. / Education, Faculty of / Graduate

<p>Documentation is essential to the success of any project or system and has
three major functions. Those functions are: to help the user become familiar with the
system, to help the user increase the system's productivity, effectiveness and
efficiency, and to guide the user in an unexpected or emergency condition.</p>
<p>
The flexible manufacturing and assembly system (FMAS) in 161 Whittemore Hall was an example of an undocumented system. Manufacturer documentation about
the system's components was available, but little formal documentation on the system
as a whole existed. Additionally, the documents that were available for the system did
not follow any common format. That is, each document had its own style.</p>
<p>
There were two primary objectives of this research. The first was to develop a
standard format and style guide for use when creating documentation for laboratory
development projects within the Manufacturing Automation Laboratories (MAL). The
second objective was to apply the developed format and style guide to the writing of a
user's manual for the FMAS in 161 Whittemore Hall. A secondary goal was to establish
a document numbering system. This numbering system is to be used to identify, by
type and chronology, all documents submitted to the MAL library.</p>
<p>
This project report is very short, simply because the products of the research
are separate, stand-alone documents. The first of the two, the <u>Manufacturing
Automation Laboratories Documentation Style Guide</u>, satisfies the first primary
objective, and the document numbering system format is included as an appendix. The style guide presents general information about MAL document preparation, establishes
guidelines for documentation of computer code, and addresses the required content of
MAL drawings and graphics. Also presented in this guide is an introduction to the
PAPYRUS reference database system, which is to be used when creating any
documentation for the MAL library.</p>
<p>
The Flexible Manufacturing and Assembly System User's Manual satisfies the
second objective, introducing the reader to the components of the FMAS and providing
descriptions of the components' tasks in the system. Two chapters of the manual are
devoted to safety and maintenance with respect to the FMAS, and another details the
procedures for activating and shutting down the system.<p> / Master of Science

<p> Chemistry is an experimental science and many educators believe
that the laboratory program is central to the teaching of chemistry.
Introductory chemistry curriculum, as defined by senior secondary school
and freshman university courses, has throughout its history placed
varying degrees of emphasis on the laboratory component. In this
project, a brief discussion of the historical background of chemical
education is followed by a consideration of those constraints thought to
interfere with the implementation of an effective laboratory program. </p> <p> Safety is an issue currently receiving greater attention in
educational institutions. This is reflected in the increased
responsibilities required by both statute and tort law. A summary of
these responsibilities and their effects on the teaching of chemistry is
included in this project. </p> <p> In order to remain faithful to the nature of chemistry, many
educators employ student activities which act as alternatives to the
laboratory experiment. Various such alternatives are examined. This is
followed by recommendations on how a laboratory program may be
