This report documents the process of designing a laboratory exercise in Fourier analysis at Vetenskapens Hus (House of Science) in Stockholm. The lab is designed for high school students studying science or technical education. It focuses on the physical understanding and mathematical description of sound, in particular music. A model of such a lab is presented in this work; containing a review of the mathematical theory, summary of educational research in the field, descriptions of the design process and of the investigative work that led to the final result. The designed material for the lab includes developed computer programs, visit leader tutorial and description for teachers.

This master’s thesis deals with the design of laboratory exercises for the Communication Technologies course that is included in the second year of bachelor’s degree in Teleinformatics. This course represents first introduction of students with network protocols and technologies, therefore, the thesis deals with just the basic physical technologies, routing protocols and transport layer protocols. The introductory part of the thesis is devoted to theoretical knowledge to particular tasks. For the design of laboratory exercises is used OPNET environment, concretely its unpaid version IT Guru Academic Edition 9.1. The first task is focused on the differences in two basic transport protocols Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). The second task is orientated on the differences in the transmission network parameters using wireless networks and Ethernet technologies. In the third task the routing protocols Routing Information Protocol (RIP) a Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) are compared. These are protocols of a group Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) that are characterized by the usage within a single autonomous system. The last exercise is aimed at Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Frame Relay technologies, which are technologies used mainly in networks Wide Area Network (WAN). All devised exercises are accompanied by detailed instructions for students including supplementary questions and tasks leading to individual work and reflection. The thesis includes model solutions to these four exercises and CD where are inserted all programs source codes.

This thesis called Simulation scenarios in an IT Guru enviroment for Communication Technologies deals with the design of laboratory experiments for the above-mentioned subject. The first part is a theoretical introduction to the protocols. The practical part contains the tasks itself. The work includes four laboratory tasks with a detailed description of the work and an illustrative pictures. The first two tasks are focused on the application protocols, with which the user comes into contact with every day. The other two are focused on routing protocols, precisely the internal routing protocol IS-IS and BGP external routing protocol. A free version of simulation software OPNET Modeler and IT Guru enviroment version 9.1.A were used to create the work.

The diploma thesis aims on the matter of data hiding (steganography) in audio records. It describes general steganographic principles and aims further on the specifics of data hiding in audio records and also aims on the LSB steganographic technique and suitability of different types of audio records to be used with this technique. The thesis also describes a laboratory exercise focused on steganography in audio records and influence of related aspects on the final audio record which contains secret data. Further, the thesis describes a program that was created especially for the laboratory exercise, from the design, functional as well as implementation-related view. Within the exercise, students will be able to examine how the amount of data to be hidden in the audio record and different ways of data hiding will affect quality of the resulting audio record, and therefore they can become more familiar with the matter of steganography based on the LSB method used in audio records.

Návrh nových laboratorních úloh s gigabitovou pasivní optickou sítí / Design of new laboratory exercises with gigabit passive optical network

The diploma thesis is focused on design of new laboratory exercises on the topic of gigabit passive optical networks. The theoretical analysis is devoted to acquaintance with basic problematics of PON and analysis of individual PON standards. Special attention, besides GPON, XG-PON and EPON standards, is devoted to security issues in PON. The goal of practical section of the thesis is the design of four laboratory exercises. Two exercises are focused on configuring GPON and XG-PON networks in a console environment with the help of exemplary console commands. The goal of the third exercise is to hook up and configure an EPON network using web configuration interface. The fourth exercise is designed for a realization of DoS attack against a fully functioning laboratory GPON network. The objective is to jam the upstream communication bandwidth with laser transmission causing a desynchronization between active network elements.

The presented master thesis is focused on an integration of plant alkaloids' curriculum into education process at eight-year grammar schools or their equivalent at primary and secondary schools. The aims of the thesis are to provide a basic data about plant alkaloids, to specify an integration of the plant alkaloids into the curricular documents and to select specific and suitable methods for teaching of the alkaloid topic at schools. These teaching methods were practically verified at the Karel Čapek's Grammar School at Dobříš by using author's proposals of the school lesson, the project teaching and laboratory exercises. In the terms of benefits for students, it has been verified that the teaching of plant alkaloids using the teaching project and the laboratory exercises, can be performed more efficiently than those during an "ordinary" school lesson. This semestral thesis deals with the creation of a laboratory exercise for the course of Communication Technology. This course is designed for Teleinformatics in bachelor's degree program and should provide students with basic knowledge of network protocols and technologies. For this reason, the thesis deals with basic transport protocols, protocols for transmission via backbone networks and network layer protocols. The introductory part introduces the OPNET design environment, more precisely its free version of Riverbed Modeler Academic Edition 17.5, where the design of the laboratory exercises is done. The second part is a necessary theory to the exercises. The lab exercise is focused on differences in TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) protocols. The second laboratory exercises is focused on technologies for transmission mainly on WAN (Wide Area Network) namely ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and Frame Relay. The last proposed exercises deals with the two most prominent Internet protocols that are used for communications IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) and IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) protocols. Guides for students have been created for this task, and at the end of each part, the complementary tasks and questions are given to students in oder to test the gained knowledge of the discussed issues.

This thesis describes general function of biometric access systems and summarizes problems of their practical use. It also shows security risks of these systems. It defines basic terms, which are used in this area, describes kinds of errors and their representation. One part of this thesis deals with biometric method of fingerprints recognition. It explains fingerprints’ atomic basics, basic principles and processing of digital fingerprint image. Next part describes concrete biometric access system V-Station by Bioscrypt Inc. Besides basic description it focuses on technology of biometric sensor and algorithm, essential parts of biometric system. The thesis continues with security analysis of this concrete system. In this part I target on weak points of the system and I design possible attack on the system. In the last part of my thesis I designed laboratory exercise, which is supposed to be realized by student. It is composed it by several tasks to let students understand working with the system and attached software. At the same time, they have opportunity to think about system by themselves a make their own opinion about possibilities of the system. There are many pictures in this thesis to make term clear and to better understanding of problems of biometric security systems.
