Měření a analýza usazování vláken z izolační minerální vaty v dýchacím systému / Measurement and analysis of deposition of fibers from mineral wool in respiratory systemHájek, Ondřej January 2020 (has links)
This master thesis deals with inhalation of fine particles and fibres into human lungs. This is a scientific field where computer modelling is used to describe the movement of fibres and their deposition in the lungs. However, the results of these simulations must be verified experimentally. The prediction of fibres behaviour is important from a toxicology point of view where it is important to know deposition hot-spots and places where fibres could possibly cause problems. The review of the state-of-the-art is focused on the deposition of particles in human lungs followed with a chapter on fibre as a type of particle, and occupational exposure limits set by different world associations. The last theoretical chapter describes human lungs and its diseases which can evolve when limits for occupational exposure are not met. The experimental chapter consists of a description of the used experimental setup and results from an experiment together with a comparison of results with other similar experiments.

Význam lidských papillomavirů v etiologii a prognóze dlaždicobuněčných karcinomů orofaryngu / The role of human papillomavirus in the etiology and prognosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynxRotnáglová, Eliška January 2011 (has links)
Tonsillar cancer (TC) presents an important part of head and neck cancers and its incidence is rising in the Czech Republic. Cigarette smoking and alcohol abuse are risk factors responsible for approximately two thirds of all head and neck cancers. Furthermore, a role of human papillomavirus (HPV) as an independent risk factor has been demonstrated recently. The aims of the present study were to find demographical differences between the group of HPV-positive and negative patients, to determine the prevalence of HPV in TC of Czech patients and also to find out whether the virus in HPV DNA positive tumors is transcriptionally active. Another aim was to test different markers of HPV infection for a precise selection of patients with HPV associated disease and to determine the prognostic role of these markers. A set of 109 patients with primary TC was examined for HPV DNA presence in tumor tissue and for the presence of HPV specific antibodies in serum. Data regarding risk factors were obtained by questionnaires. Forty-five samples were available for E6 and E2 mRNA analysis and for immunohistochemical analysis of p16 and p53 expression. The overall prevalence of HPV DNA in TC was 65%. In 93% of HPV16 DNA positive samples the virus was transcriptionally active. The E2 expression status has shown that in...

Vnímání krásy savců v ZOO Praha: vliv věku a vzdělání respondentů / Perception of beauty of mammals in Prague ZOO: Influence of respondents' age and educationPoláková, Petra January 2016 (has links)
1 Abstract Every year, the number of species considered as endangered increases, especially due to human activities. Nowadays, captive breeding in zoological gardens becomes an option for their survival in refugees. Zoological gardens function as so-called "Noah's Ark", which has the potential to shelter a large amount of individuals from many species. In the future, this opportunity may give us a chance to reintroduce a species that disappeared in the nature. There are many factors influencing which species will be selected to be kept in zoos, e.g., the IUCN status, taxonomical uniqueness, availability, etc., but it was found that especially the size of the animal and the human aesthetic preferences affect the selection. However, every group of animals is evaluated independently in the terms of beauty, and thus, it is necessary to detect these rules and then to apply them to conservation projects. This thesis examines the factors that influence human aesthetic preferences to mammals, both in terms of the characteristics of animals (their colour and morphology), and in terms of human factors (gender, age, education, residence). It was found that especially the pattern, saturation and overall lightness of the animal affect the evaluation of beauty in mammals. On the other hand, dark colours are evaluated...
