Úpravy textů pro děti a mládež pro neslyšící děti / The adaptations of literature for children and youth for deaf children

This thesis is concerned with investigation adapted texts from literature for children and youth specifically adapted for deaf children. The aim of the work is to compare the final quality edited version of particular book for children and youth based on critical analysis, to assess whether the adapted texts respect the settled publishing rules and do not harm original version together with they are really more accessible for deaf children's readers. Adapted texts for deaf children are generally criticized and deemed unsuccessfull. This thesis seeks for an objective reflection of these books and their effectiveness and to submit possible proposals for their improvement. The first chapters are focused on editorial practice and the types of treatements that are performed in books for children and youth followed by a description of the arrangements for deaf children. Critical analysis is subjected to literary work Honzíkova cesta by Bohumil Říha adapted by Jana Purová. The critical analysis is founded on comparision between readability index of original version and adapted version, and study of the first chapter according to specialized literature. This Master Thesis is focused on analysis of media response to editions Fresh and Raketa of publishing house Labyrint in the context of history of publishing practice in the Czech Republic in the nineties. It also discusses contemporary literature for children and youth. Thesis studies critical media response to three particular books from studied editions Tajemství oblázkové hory by Bára Dočkalová, Robinson by Petr Sís and Plyš by Michal Hvorecký. Novel Plyš by Michal Hvorecký was covered the most in the media. The smallest number of articles was published about Tajemství oblázkové hory by Bára Dočkalová. Even though it was nominated for Magnesia Litera Award, it did not win the price in the end. The closing part focuses on a unique project by publishing house Labyrint, a magazine for children called Raketa. Media attention is focused on creators of magazine, either it is the owner of publishing house Labyrint Joachim Dvořák or its chief editors Johana Švejdíková and Radana Litošová. Critical reflection is rare, there are mostly short notes recommending buying the magazine or describing a new issue. There is a broad spectrum of media chosen for this analysis, from news media to cultural and literary periodical such as Tvar, Host, A2 and catalog Nejlepší knihy dětem.

This thesis is focused on an animal protagonist in literary texts which could be used in education because of their didactic potential. The aim of this thesis is to describe the form of representation of an animal protagonist (and nature in general) in chosen literary texts and to design the possible ways how to use these texts in education. The first part is dedicated to a theme of animal in the cultural context, especially in the literature with a short ethology-digression. The second part deals with a literary-theoretical analysis of texts from Rudyard Kipling, Jack London, Vitaly Bianki and Ceridwen Dovey. The third part of this thesis is focused on the didactic potential of analyzed texts aiming to econarratology. In the last chapter are described possibilities of the didactic work with all the formerly analyzed texts. This thesis deals with the process of creating a didactic material for students of the Year 7 in Czech secondary school. The thesis studies factors influencing the selection of titles and individual extracts of texts for students. It also focuses on creating tasks related to the texts. This process and its results is the outcome of the analysis of effective pedagogical documents and the number of selected readers. The aim of this thesis is to create a set of worksheets for students to help them study literature and develop their reading skills. Moreover, the worksheets should motivate students to read contemporary Czech literature for children even when out of the school. The final part of the thesis comments on each worksheet, focusing on the process of selecting individual extracts and providing possible ways of using this didactic material in lessons of literature. The thesis entitled Sensitive topics in childhood and youth literature deals with one of the main tendencies of contemporary Francophone literature for children and youth, which is the inclusion of sensitive topics in children's books. The thesis tries to find answers to these questions: Since when did these topics start to appear in children's and youth's literature? Which topics do we consider sensitive? How do the authors handle these difficult topics and what is their place and objective in children's literature? The introduction of the thesis generally outlines the specifics and functions of literature for children and youth and subsequently tries to answer the defined questions. As such, the introduction is followed by the chapters examining the history of the children and youth genre, taboo and sensitive topics in children's literature, which will help answer these questions. The thesis carefully focuses on the topics of death, illness and disability, racism and diversity and difficult family situations such as divorce, adoption or homoparentality.

This Master Thesis is about Meander publishing house and media reflection of three choosen titles from edition Blue Elephant. Theoretical part of this thesis introduces the development of publishing houses after the fall of communism in 1989, the development of the literature for children and youth, phenomenon of bilderbuch and the change of reading habits and reader's environment. The analytical part introduces the Meander publishing house and its edition Blue Elephant. Key artist for this edition is Petr Nikl, who is Meander's court artist as well. The analysis of media was performed on titles Záhádky by Petr Nikl, Jělěňovití by Petr Nikl and The Little's Man Great Journey by Lenka Uhlířová and Jiří Stach. The analysed media are literary and cultural magazines, newspapers and digital media.

TITLE: Picture of illness and death in contemporary German literature for children and youth (The analysis and didactic adaptation in the context of selected works of world literature) SUMMARY:Presented thesis deals with literary reflections on illness and death in contemporary German literature for children and youth. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts such as illness, death, child and developmental stages of childhood, literature and literature for children and youth. These themes are then further processed. In more detail is the work devoted to analyzing literary works with that theme. The works are examined in terms of literary aesthetic and thematic components, composition and language components. In the practical part, the work focuses on the students perception of researched topic and work with specific literary texts. The final section compares the aspects of reception on illness and death of students of Czech and Austrian schools at the age of 14 to 19 years based on questionnaires filled in by those students which were used as the main research material.
