Resonemang som gör skillnad : En fallstudie om elevers resonemangsförmåga i matematik / Reasoning that makes a difference : A case study about students’ reasoning ability in math task

Ingelsten Krusell, Natalie January 2020 (has links)
This study aims to make students’ reasoning visible when solving a math problem, through using audio recording as a pedagogical tool. The research questions: What qualitative differences in students’ reasonings are possible to identify? and Which processes of the ability of reasoning are possible to identify? are answered by a case study. In the result, the qualitative differences that are shown in levels of grades, but also within the levels, are described. The most palpable differences are shown in the mathematical precision of the reasonings. Proving and comparing are identified as processes of the ability of reasoning. In summary, reasoning that makes a difference deals with tasks, assessment, student’ opportunities to reasoning and the teacher’s approach to the ability.
