Urban Space Recreation for Pedestrians through Smart Lighting Control Systems

Karagöz, Hande January 2018 (has links)
Connected public lighting for more sustainable and liveable cities is highly demanding research in lighting design field through human centred design approach. While following this understanding, this thesis aims to answer the question “How a networked public lighting can be created in order to enhance the needs of the pedestrians in Fredhällspark?”. To investigate this study, a background research was studied in the relevant topics of urban lighting, followed by the study of human safety regarding to this topic and lastly the possible new lighting technologies. The main study is involved in a pedestrian path at Fredhällspark in Stockholm, Sweden, in two months duration in the spring time of 2018 by conducting user surveys and taking the lighting measurements. Based on the results the study showed, a lighting design proposal is developed with a site-specific approach in order to make it up-to date and sustainable for future urban environments while complying with the requirements of the users.

For this was done reading the educational projects of the selected schools, whose data collected as specific script, we analyzed about axes created as the data collected to help us check the consonances and dissonances of ideas and action plans contained in the projects of schools. The analysis was supported by authors of theoretical sociology of education, education and social services, such as Apple & Beane (2001), Young (2001), Gimeno Sacristan (1998), Azanha (2006), Veiga (1995), Haydt (1997), Sposati (1996; 2000), Saviani (1976) and Albuquerque (2005), so it was verified that the selected districts first (Jaçanã) presents data showing lower levels of quality than the second district (Tucuruvi). The projects for their respective schools, in turn, were consistent with the reality of their communities. While the school located in Jacana has no structure or an appropriate plan of action that makes possible the improvement of regional school located in Tucuruvi has a well-designed project, with a diagnosis that is consistent with the priorities established by the same according to their conceptions / O presente trabalho refere-se a uma análise documental que aborda o estudo sobre os Projetos Pedagógicos de duas escolas situadas na região norte da cidade de São Paulo, a saber, nos distritos de Jaçanã e Tucuruvi respectivamente, e a maneira como os mesmos foram elaborados conforme a realidade das comunidades onde se inserem.

Post-socialist urban planning : Local needs in the City of Murmansk, Russia

Nikitina, Daria January 2018 (has links)
Urban research is aware of being culturally embedded, and inability to break free from history in some cases may explain why the change goes in a particular direction. After more than 70 years of centrally planned community and isolation, present urban structures in Russia stand as arenas for the system transitions. The political and socio-economic changes of the last decades had an impact on urban structures and relations between the different levels of planning. The municipalities are now assumed to be independent in terms of decision-making and local priorities, urban programs and civic engagement procedures. While the degree of success in urban development varies between the different Russian cities, the paper studies the local planning functions as well neighborhood governance and puts the results into the soviet planning context. By using in-depth interviews, the data has been collected providing a knowledgebase of the subject across the study area. The results show both various gaps of transformation (e.g. insufficient legislature, lack of local initiative and federal guidance, marginalized master plan, poor neighborhood governance) and path-dependent system (normativism, unsuccessful civic engagement, lack of communication between different institutions, companies and publics). The discussion argues that at the national scale the issue lies in the uncompleted socio-cultural transformation, which creates a quasi-existent planning system at the local level.
