Cell Base Automatic Location Identification System in GSM

Hsu, Feng-Wei 04 August 2000 (has links)
Due to the availability of the cellular phone, PCS (Personal Communication Service) has become wildly popular world-wide [1], and the number of the PCS users has quickly grown beyond what anyone had imagined. As its name indicates, mobility is the most remarkable feature of a cellular phone. On the other hand, that means it is difficult to determine the location of the PCS users. The proficiency to determine the geographical position of a cellular phone users have become increasingly important. One main reason for this service is the use of mobile phones for emergency calls, which is expected to grow quickly in the near future. For emergency assistance via 911 (Emergency 911, E-911), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has now required that system operators of mobile communications networks be able to accurately locate mobile callers before year 2001. There has been a lot of ongoing research examining cellular positioning options among cellular and PCS providers. Most location approaches require measurements at multiple receiving stations or need supports from base stations. Our main proposal in this paper is a new approach to enhance the performance of wireless position location through a single cellular phone. This method has the following two features: First, it does not require any modification to the current GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) architecture, that is, it does not increase network traffic. Second, the location identifications is performed on the mobile end, which does not increase computation load of the network system. Hence, the quantity of self-location cellular phones which can be supported by GSM system has no upper limit. In this sense, we would say that Cell Base Automatic Location Identification System is a method worthy of further exploration. Meanwhile, this technique could be applied on the other domains, such as electron-map, local resource detected, newfangled chat room, controlling caller¡¦s location, etc. The intention of this paper is to introduce innovation uses single cellular phone to implement ALI (Automatic Location Identification) system. The whole issue determining the TA (Timing Advance) between the MS (Mobile Station) and the BTS (Base Transference Station) as well as coupling the calculated distance with the determined direction of the BTS signal so as to calculate the location of the MS. To counter the inaccuracies of the ALI system, we offer a force-handover subfunction. Even though one or more force-handovers increase the accuracy, the cost is extra time overhead. In our location system, we implement two applications to determine the reliability of any ALI system information. They are Wireless Signed System and Resources Information Searching System.

DETECTION, CLASSIFICATION, AND LOCATION IDENTIFICATION OF TRAFFIC CONGESTION FROM TWITTER STREAM ANALYSIS

RezaeiDivkolaei, Pouya 01 December 2017 (has links)
Social media today is an important source of information about various events happening around the world. Among various social networking platforms, microtext based ones such as Twitter are of special interest as they are also a rich source of real-time events. In this thesis, our goal is to study the effectiveness of using Twitter as a social sensor for obtaining real-time information on road traffic conditions. Specifically, we focus on: i) identifying tweets that contain traffic event related information, ii) classify such tweets into six main groups of accident, fire, road construction, police activities, weather and others, iii) extract fine-grained location information about the traffic incident by analyzing tweet text. Our experimental results show that using Twitter as a social sensor for obtaining rich information about traffic events is indeed a promising approach. We show that we can correctly detect traffic related tweets with an accuracy of 81%. Moreover, the accuracy of correctly classifying traffic related tweets into one of the six categories is 97%. Lastly, our experimental results show that using only geo-tags of tweets is not sufficient for fine-grained localization of traffic incidents due to two reasons: i) a vast majority of traffic related tweets do not contain geo-tags, and ii) the location mentioned in the tweet text and the geo-tag of a tweet do not always agree. Such observations prove that fine-grained localization of traffic incidents from tweet must also include analysis of the tweet text using Natural Language Processing techniques.

INTI : En automatiserad ljudupplevelse

Guzmán Bacarreza, Victor, Andersson, Claes January 2021 (has links)
The thesis INTI was founded by the members of the project, because they had a great common interest for development of smart electronic products, which today is classified as smart home products. The founders used their experience and knowledge that they had acquired in their three years at Halmstad University. INTI falls nothing short of the expectations they had prior to the start of the project. It will simplify everyday living and enhance comfort in one's own home by using location recognition. Today, there is a lot of competition between different markets that integrate with smart home products. Such as audio products, light units and security products. INTI is an automated solution where programming modules can identify the user’s location in order to create a system network. By identifying the location of the user, it’s possible to configurate the sound system and establish a follow-around system. The primary goal with this thesis is to connect the INTI system with two speakers and attain a functional follow-around system that adjust the volume according to the user’s position. The purpose of the thesis is to create a unique system that is affordable by todays standard and alleviate everyday life for the private consumer.
