Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo verificar a alteração do campo de vento na área de estudo, decorrente da alteração de gabarito quanto à ventilação natural, e avaliar o impacto nas condições de conforto dos pedestres. A verificação das condições de ventilação natural nas cidades, com estudos em modelos, auxilia na elaboração de projetos arquitetônicos, ou de planejamento, possibilitando uma análise da influência do efeito do vento em determinados locais da área em análise. O objeto de estudo da tese é a relação entre a alteração de gabarito (altura dos edifícios) e as mudanças ocasionadas na ventilação natural em espaços urbanos na área entre o Canal 1 e 2 (Bairro Pompéia) na cidade de Santos/SP. Partiu-se da hipótese que a ventilação natural em áreas urbanas depende da altura dos edifícios, da direção e velocidade dos ventos. Foi utilizado método experimental com simulação da configuração urbana em túnel de vento, medidas in loco para a verificação das condições climáticas, simulação com software CFD (Computer Fluids Dynamics) e a aplicação de um índice de neutralidade térmica. Trata-se de uma tese de caráter experimental e exploratório, onde os métodos utilizados demonstraram ser aplicáveis para o entendimento das condições de ventilação natural em meio urbano. / The objective of this research is to verify alterations of the wind pattern in the study area, stemming from changes to the grids natural ventilation, and evaluate the impact to the pedestrians comfort conditions. The verification of natural ventilation conditions in cities, with the study of models, aids in the creation of architectural or planning - designs, enabling an analysis of the influence of the effects of wind in certain points of the area in study. This thesis object of study is the relation between changes to the framework (building height) and changes to the natural ventilation in urban environments in the area between Canal 1 and 2 (Bairro Pompéia), in the city of Santos/SP. The hypothesis is that natural ventilation in urban areas depends on the height of buildings, direction and velocity of winds. The study involved an experimental method, with wind-tunnel simulation of the urban grid, in loco measurements of the climate conditions, simulation with CFD software and application of a thermal neutrality index. This thesis is experimental and exploratory in its character, and the methods used proved applicable to the understanding of the natural ventilation conditions in an urban environment.

Harming the dignity of the learner; refusing to hear his side of the story; neglecting to
help him retrieve his stolen property : such are the unfortunate occurrences at many
South African schools, and such are the experiences that have led to this research.
Dedicated educators sometimes default, leaving their wronged learners out m the cold.
The questions are therefore: • What causes this conduct of educators and why does it recur? • Is it ignorance of their legal position? • Is it insensitivity to common law principles and statutory provisions? • Is it sheer carelessness? Mindful of the introduction of the South African Constitution Act 108 of 1996, wh1ch
contains the long-awaited Bill of Fundamental Rights, this study has been undertaken
to give an educational-juridical perspective of the educator-learner relationship 1n
South African public schools by means of a literature study and an elementary legal
comparative study.
Various legal terms which influence the educator-learner relationship significantly are
defined.
In conjunction with the private law status of the learner, the position of the learner
within the school system, and the fundamental rights of the learner in the context of
the administration of justice are identified and dealt with in so far as they have any
bearing on the educator-learner relationship,
Moreover, the legal determinants of the educator-learner relationship and the
educator's duty of care are pinpointed to determine their significance in an
accountable, responsive and open educator-learner relationship,
A comparative school law perspective of the sources of school law, the duties and
responsibilities of educators, the fundamental rights and legal obligations of the
learner, the educator's duty of care, discipline and legal liability in England and Wales,
Canada, Japan, and South Africa is presented in terms of similarities and differences,
Attention is paid to the necessity of informing educators and learners concerning their
respective rights and duties, in order to develop accountable, responsive and open

Le mouvement de la marche est un processus essentiel de l'activité
humaine et aussi le résultat de nombreuses interactions collaboratives
entre les systèmes neurologiques, articulaires et
musculo-squelettiques fonctionnant ensemble efficacement. Ceci
explique pourquoi une analyse de la marche est aujourd'hui de plus en
plus utilisée pour le diagnostic (et aussi la prévention) de
différents types de maladies (neurologiques, musculaires,
orthopédique, etc.). Ce rapport présente une nouvelle méthode pour
visualiser rapidement les différentes parties du corps humain liées à
une possible asymétrie (temporellement invariante par translation)
existant dans la démarche d'un patient pour une possible utilisation
clinique quotidienne. L'objectif est de fournir une méthode à la fois
facile et peu dispendieuse permettant la mesure et l'affichage visuel,
d'une manière intuitive et perceptive, des différentes parties
asymétriques d'une démarche. La méthode proposée repose sur
l'utilisation d'un capteur de profondeur peu dispendieux (la Kinect)
qui est très bien adaptée pour un diagnostique rapide effectué dans de
petites salles médicales car ce capteur est d'une part facile à
installer et ne nécessitant aucun marqueur. L'algorithme que nous
allons présenter est basé sur le fait que la marche saine possède des
propriétés de symétrie (relativement à une invariance temporelle) dans
le plan coronal. / The gait movement is an essential process of the human activity and
also the result of coordinated effort between the neurological,
articular and musculoskeletal systems. This motivates why gait
analysis is important and also increasingly used nowadays for the
(possible early) diagnosis of many different types (neurological,
muscular, orthopedic, etc.) of diseases. This paper introduces a
novel method to quickly visualize the different parts of the body
related to an asymmetric movement in the human gait of a patient for
daily clinical. The goal is to provide a cheap and easy-to-use method
to measure the gait asymmetry and display results in a perceptually
relevant manner. This method relies on an affordable consumer depth
sensor, the Kinect. The Kinect was chosen because this device is
amenable for use in small, confined area, like a living room. Also,
since it is marker-less, it provides a fast non-invasive diagnostic.
The algorithm we are going to introduce relies on the fact that a
healthy walk has (temporally shift-invariant) symmetry properties in
the coronal plane.
