The review of the existing frustration theories resulted on a model which allowed the evaluation of 'social perception' interference upon the reaction to frustration we examined three of the possible theoretic91 explanations to determine the differences of perception of the 'locus of control': the first one was examined in terms of the learning theory the second one, in terms of character organization and the third one in terms of temperament factors. We also presented a review of the experimental attempts and confirmations concerning the construct 'locus of control' and the reaction to' frustration. The empírical verification of the proposed model consisted of a pilot research to prove the relatlonship between the 'locus of control' variable and the ·tolerance to frustration (under certain aspects). Paralelly, we were able to examine the role of the variable - university education. We studied a group of university students and the results indicated that the interns presented a move mature level of tolerance to frustration. The students persistance in attaining goals and ability to initiative before frustrating sltuat1.ons revealed this higher level of maturity. Despite the 'locus of control', and concerning the University career education students resulted more intrapunitive than others. The analysis of the influence of the kind of frustrating situation, finally showed that the circunstances involving the 'threatening of the ego' led to an emotional discharge of the gul1ty type In detriment to initiative. In addition the extrapunitive reections were more moticiable during those situations in which the subject had its goals blockaded.

De l'impact des variations temporelles sur les transitions formantiques / On the impact of t emporal variations on formant transitions

Abuoudeh, Mohammad 26 June 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine the different spectral variations that are impacted by two types of temporal modifications: phonological vowel length contrast (intrinsic variations) and varying speaking rates (extrinsic variations). Three experiments, two on Jordanian Arabic and one on French, were conducted to investigate this phenomenon. We were interested in stop consonants produced in the initial and the final positions in CVC sequences. Vowel duration and the frequency of the first three formants were measured for each vowel length and speaking rate. In addition, locus equations were computed to measure the impact of time variations on CV / VC coarticulation. According to the results, the vowel and consonant qualities are influenced both by vowel duration contrasts and by speaking rate modifications in different ways. Such modifications are evidenced by locus equations and by dispersion analyses as well. These two quantification tools revealed that there is greater coarticulatory overlap when the duration of the vowel is reduced, regardless of the origin of temporal variations in the two languages (intrinsic and extrinsic). On the other hand, temporal variations affect the classification of the stop consonant differently according to their origin.

Étude de l’autoincompatibilité chez la chicorée (Cichorium intybus L., Asteraceae) : cartographie génétique et physique du locus S / Study of the self-incompatibility in chicory (Cichorium intybus L., Asteraceae) : genetic and physical mapping of the locus S

Gonthier, Lucy 05 July 2011 (has links)
Generally under the control of one locus, the S-locus, self-incompatibility (SI) is one of the most important strategies to prevent selfing in hermaphrodite plants. Determinants involved in the SI reaction have been identified in some Angiosperm families. In the Asteraceae family, determinants of SI are still unknown. Chicory (Cichorium intybus L., Asteraceae) is a sporophytic SI species. To identify determinants of chicory SI, a positional cloning strategy has been implemented. The chicory S-locus has been assigned to one end of linkage group 2. A high density map have been obtained from a marker assisted BSA (Bulk Segregant Analysis) approach: 5 AFLP markers were obtained, including one co-segregating with the S-locus. From a large population (n = 2.824), 2 consensus high-resolution map of the S-locus region were produced. Due to a heterochiasmy phenomenon, the S-locus was positioned in an interval of 0,6 cM or 1,24 cM considering female or male meiosis, respectively. Two BAC libraries of chicory were produced in collaboration with the CNRGV. They allowed us to start chromosome walking and to turn it toward the S-locus. Moreover, 6 BAC clones, corresponding to 546 kb, were sequenced and analyzed. A ratio of 0,5 Mb/cM for male meiosis and 2,2~Mb/cM for female meiosis were obtained. Repeated element composition and coding part of the sequences were studied (libraries of Cichorium sp. EST and Arabidopsis thaliana and Vitis vinifera peptides). A certain degree of conservation of microsynteny was observed between these genes and their homologues in five Dicotyledon species.

Tailoring Taylor: locus of control and attitudes toward genetically altering children

Gromadzin, Barbara 01 January 2003 (has links)
This study investigated whether or not a relationship exists between stated attitudes toward genetically altering one's own children and scores on Rotter's Locus of Control Scale. Locus of control was determined by participant's score (low to high) on the locus of control scale, categorizing those who scored low as internal in regard to perceived control and those who scored high as external in regard to perceived control. Attitudes toward genetic alterations were determined by participant responses to 2 questions following 3 hypothetical scenarios in which participants were asked to rate their likelihoods to cure a genetic disease, enhance physical potential, or enhance intellectual potential in their unborn child through genetic manipulation. Participants were also asked to rate the likelihood of endorsing the procedure to a friend. I hypothesized that Internals, who believe situational outcomes are directly due to their own efforts and energies, are more likely to support gene manipulation in each hypothetical scenario than Externals, who believe that outcomes are due more to powerful outside forces, such as fate or luck. Results indicated that there was a main effect for locus of control and scenario responses. Internals were more likely on average for all scenarios to support the idea of genetically modifying their own children, for enhancement or curative reasons than externals were. Internals were also more likely on average for all scenarios to endorse the alteration to a friend in a similar situation than externals were.
