A Study on the Middle and High Level Managements' Perception Towards Six Sigma's Key Implementation Factors

Tung, Yen-Kuan 03 June 2004 (has links)
Since the successful implementations in some prestigious companies such as Motorola, GE & Allied Signal the ¡§Six Sigma¡¨ quality management system has become more and more companies¡¦ priority approach in upgrading their overall competitiveness. With its actual progress made in competitiveness and the shining financial results in the past the Six Sigma has attracted numerous followers and it is now indeed the main quality management stream after the TQM era. No matter the Six Sigma implementation is still under evaluation or has been accepted and ready to kick off, it is no other than one of the main strategic plans of almost all the contemporary companies. However, in spite that Six Sigma has been maturely implemented for some time and there have been some global companies and local companies here in Taiwan that have phased it in already, there are still a lot of local companies that rather wait-and-see and decide not to be the front runners. In Taiwan the number of Six-Sigma companies that have truly phased in and paid off are still quite limited so far. Because of that this research summarized the existing literature based on the key success factors and then validated this hypothesis through expert validation. After the hypothesis was validated, there followed investigations upon the middle and upper level managers who were mostly also students of the NSYSU¡¦s EMBA, MBA (on-job), MBA (night-session), English MBA, MBA (HR, on-job) and ISU¡¦s EMBA and PMBA programs, to have an in-depth understanding on what were theirs and the temporary companies¡¦ wants and anticipated results, what were the differences between their perceptions on the Six Sigma¡¦s key implementation factors, what were the correlations between different independent and dependent variables, and whether there still embedded any tacit factors that could otherwise result in failures. From the result of this research we concluded that no matter what industries and what scales most of the companies have faced with pressure of having to implement Six Sigma. In addition, they believed that Six Sigma truly would be able to help them upgrading their overall competitiveness and corporate images. Also, we learned that there existed differences in independent variables vs. different dependent variables. The perceptions of the middle and upper managements were found not in line with the key success factors in certain degrees in some ways that could otherwise contribute to failures if we do not pay attention to prevent them from happening. Generally speaking, no matter how many employees the companies may have, what capital and revenue sizes they are, all the companies should know of their industries¡¦ own features well for deciding their own directions. They should have appropriate benchmarking and consultants, and need to seek for helps from outside if necessary so that they could take advantage of this new Six Sigma era.

An Unified Approach to Analyze a Generic M-ary CDMA System

Chao, Chien-yao 30 July 2004 (has links)
In this thesis we propose and study a new CDMA architecture, namely parallel-transmission M-ary CDMA system. By using variable combination patterns of spreading codes, we can greatly improve the system bandwidth utilization. The more spreading codes used in each user, the higher bandwidth efficiency can achieve with more bits packed in each symbol. In addition, a user can adjust transmission data rate easily by changing the number of spreading codes used to fit varying system operational requirements. In this thesis, we should use maximum likelihood detection algorithms for signal detection to ensure an optimal performance in terms of bit error rate. The system performance of such a parallel-transmission M-ary CDMA system is analytically studied in both AWGN and Nakagami channels in the presence of multiple access interference and multi-path interference. The both theoretical analysis and computer simulations show that the scheme works pretty well under various channel condition.

The Effects of Employee's Turnover and Keep Staying in Merger and Acquisition¡GA Study of Relationship

Tien, Nian-Ai 17 February 2005 (has links)
As to a private enterprise, the leaving of outstanding staff is undoubtedly the losses of a kind of intangible assets to the company. For a company which has encountered the merged and acquisition¡]M¡®A¡^, a reorganization of the company is definitely needed . How to avoid the leaving of outstanding staffs and how to keep them? This question has turned into an major concern for the been-merged company. In Chinese society, the interpersonal relation is crucial in one¡¦s life , therefore, it has become unavoidable to concern about the impact of some staff¡¦s leaving. This research probes into the issue that how the employees in the been-merged company been influenced when making a decision to leave or stay in the company concerning the personal relationship in Chinese society. Find in the result of the research, the factors which account for the staying or leaving of the merged company staffs could be concluded as the following four points: 1¡BWhen after enterprise is merged, a staff could have the idea of keep staying contributed to a sense of fellowship among co-workers and vice versa. 2¡BWhen after enterprise is merged, in the bad contact relationship among the colleagues, a person among them could have the idea of keep staying because of the leaving of other colleagues in the office and vice versa. 3¡BWhen after enterprise is merged, in the good fellowship among the colleagues, a person among them could have the idea of leaving owing to not be accompanied by other remaining friends in the office and vice versa. 4¡BWhen after enterprise is merged, in the bad relationship among the colleagues, a person among them could have the idea of leaving owing to the staying of other colleagues in the office and vice versa.

Predicting spatial distribution of critical pore types and their influence on reservoir quality, Canyon (Pennsylvanian) Reef reservoir, Diamond M field, Texas

Fisher, Aaron Jay 25 April 2007 (has links)
This study examined the stratigraphic architecture, depositional and diagenetic histories, and resulting reservoir characteristics that have influenced the occurrence, distribution, and quality of flow units in the Diamond M field, Scurry County, Texas. The study area is located in the Midland Basin. The field has production from the Canyon (Pennsylvanian) Horseshoe Atoll carbonate buildup. Recent drilling in the Diamond M field was done to evaluate ways to improve recovery by water flooding. Classification of depositional texture based on detailed petrologic and petrographic studies on three cores was done. Subsequent genetic classification of pore types by thin section petrography revealed three dominant pore types: intramatrix, moldic, and vuggy. The reservoir was zoned according to dominant pore type and log signatures to evaluate correlations at field scale by using neutron logs. Equations determined from core analyses provided equations used for estimating porosity and permeability, which were used to develop a ranking scheme for reservoir quality based on good, intermediate, and poor flow units at field scale. Ultimately slice maps of reservoir quality at a 10 ft interval for a 150 ft section of the Canyon Reef reservoir were developed. These reservoir quality maps will provide a useful tool for the design and implementation of accurate and profitable development programs.
