Etude du méandrement du sillage éolien lointain dans différentes conditions de rugosité / Study of the meandering of the far wake of a wind turbine in various roughness conditions

Muller, Yann-Aël 10 December 2014 (has links)
The phenomenon known as meandering describes the unsteady trajectory variations of the wake of a wind turbine. This phenomenon is responsible for specific mechanical stresses on turbines positioned in the wake of other turbines. As such, this phenomenon must be accounted for in the design and operation of wind turbine plants. This work uses numerical fluid simulation and wind tunnel testing in order to study the meandering of the wake of a wind turbine. The subject is discussed in two parts. The first part discusses the modeling of the atmospheric boundary layer, with a focus on the large scales of the atmospheric turbulence. The second part is a study of the behavior of the wake of an actuator disc model in atmospheric wind conditions. Both parts include experimental and numerical work. The numerical simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer involves the generation of synthetic turbulent velocity time series by mean of a stochastic technique developed during this thesis, to which a chapter is dedicated. One of the main results of this work is that the meandering is highly correlated with the large scales of the atmospheric turbulence.

Desenvolvimento de um modelo lagrangiano para estimar a dispersão de escalares passivos em condições de meandro do vento horizontal / Development of a lagrangian model to estimate the passive scalar dispersion in low-wind meandering conditions

Stefanello, Michel Baptistella 24 February 2017 (has links)
The description of the effects of the wind meandering in the scalar dispersion is a challenging task, since this type of flow represents a physical state characterized by multiple scales. In this study, a Lagrangian stochastic diffusion model is derived to describe the scalar transport during the horizontal wind meandering phenomenon, occurring in a PBL. The model is derived from the linearization of the Langevin equation and employs a heuristic functional form, which represents the autocorrelation functions of the meandering. The new solutions, which describe the longitudinal and lateral wind components, were used to simulate two experiments of contaminants dispersion in low-wind conditions, INEL (USA) and GRAZ (Austria). The results of the comparison indicate that the new model reproduces fairly well the observed concentrations of contaminants and, therefore, satisfactorily describes the enhanced dispersion due to the presence of meandering.

Influência do campo de ventos e do meandramento da Corrente do Brasil na concentração de clorofila-a e nutrientes ao largo de Ubatuba - SP / The influence of wind field and Brazil Current meandering on the concentration of chlorophyll-a and nutrients off Ubatuba - SP

Pedro Paulo Guy Martins dos Santos 15 December 2015 (has links)
The main goal of this work is to evaluate the effect of the wind field and Brazil Current meandering on hydrographic and biochemical variability off northern coast of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The dataset used were comprised of monthly samples of temperature, chlorophyll-a and nutrients acquired in situ in Ubatuba from December 2004 to April 2014, wind field derived from NCDC/NOAA Blended Sea Winds package, as well as sea surface temperature and sea surface chlorophyll remotely sensed by MODIS aboard Acqua satellite. Data analysis reveal a strong correlation of along-shore wind component with the water temperature in all depths at spring, pointing out the importance of remote intrusion and advection of South Atlantic Central Water at the sampling site. During summer, however, high correlation of said wind component with nitrate concentration show dominance of local intrusion processes. The distance between the sampling station and the Brazil Current front correlated significantly with chlorophyll-a, nitrate and phosphate. These results suggest that the wind is the main driver of biochemical and hydrographic variability at the study area, while the Brazil Current front meandering plays a secondary role in the internal shelf dynamics.

Subjective Efficiencies: Water Use, Management and Governance in the North Platte Natural Resources District

Miller, Elizabeth 08 1900 (has links)
The North Platte Natural Resources District (NPNRD) is one of 23 quasi-governmental organizations in the state of Nebraska that are organized by river basin and are responsible for the management of groundwater. Conversely, the state's surface water is governed by the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources under the system of prior appropriation. This study uses Foucauldian neoliberal governmentality and a contrasting theory of 'meandering' to explore the conflicting beliefs, perceptions and values that form the foundations of different notions of 'efficiency' as it pertains to water use and management in NPNRD while a political ecology lens is used to situate local perceptions within the regional context of the Platte River Basin. Study findings ultimately point to the remaining 'disintegration' of water governance despite the state's efforts to create legislation that seeks to merge ground and surface water management in practice.

Návrh opatření na horním toku Svratky / Proposal measures at upper reaches Svratka River

Klepárníková, Radka January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the proposal of measures on the Svratka stream in the cadastral area Český Herálec and Herálec na Moravě. The aim of the diploma thesis is to propose appropriate flood protection in the Herálec urban area and to elaborate proposals of nature friendly measures outside the municipality’s built up area, which will enable the renewal of the ecological functions of Svratka in the spring area. In the diploma thesis the assessment of the current state of the watercourse in the analyzed locality was caried out and also the assessment of the capacity of the watercourse and the objects on there. Furthermore, the flood levels and its areas were determined. Hydraulic water flow calculations were performed using the 1D and 1D/2D numerical model. For calculation, HEC-RAS 5.0.3 was used. When processing a 1D/2D numerical model, a manual describing the progress of work in the HEC-RAS 5.0.3 program was also created. On the basis of the results from the numerical model, a proposal for flood protection measures in the urban area and nature friendly measures in the extravilan was carried out.
