Communication and Motivation with Football Players

May, Jonathan Eric 01 January 2009 (has links)
This study investigated the perceived locus of causality of motivation in high school football players. The Sports Motivation Scale (SMS) was used to study seven motivation subscales (IM to know, IM to accomplish, IM stimulation, EM identified, EM introjected, EM external and Amotivation) with respect to motivation among high school football players. This indicated that IM to know, IM to accomplish, EM identified and EM introjected were the best predictors of the participants? perceived locus of causality of motivation. The results indicate that when using perceived locus of causality for motivation, position played could be predicted 62 percent of the time. The study also speculates on ways in which communication could be used to affect motivation.

Feasibility and effectiveness of physical activity program in people with Down Syndrome using Self Determination Theory

Haider, Maria 10 May 2024 (has links) (PDF)
Autonomous physical activity (PA) is challenging for adults with Down syndrome (DS) therefore PA programs tailored around facilitators of PA in individuals with Down syndrome (DS) that also align with Self-determination theory (SDT) components could be a feasible and effective way of increasing PA. The purpose was to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of a physical activity program based on self-determination theory in adults with Down syndrome. A dance program was conducted twice a week for 8 weeks. Each session was 60 minutes long. Adults with DS (n = 8) were tested before and after intervention for basic psychological needs satisfaction and physical performance. There were significant changes in some physical and psychological measures. The study demonstrated that a low-resource dance program based on SDT can be a feasible and effective way to engage adults with DS in physical activity

Využití moderních technologií v procesu zvýšení a udržení dlouhodobé motivace k pohybové aktivitě / The use of modern technologies in the process of increasing and maintaining long-term motivation for physical activity

Katrňák, Marek January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis focuses on the topic of motivation for physical activity. Possibilities of increasing motivation by creating optimal conditions for fulfillment of three basic psychological needs, in combination with optimal goal setting process using smartphone apps are discussed. The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to the theory of self-determination and its` contribution in context of motivation for physical activity. The thesis also focuses on gamified environment used in the smartphone apps. Gamification elements are suitable for use in goal-setting context, as well as in a pursuit of fulfillment of three basic psychological needs. The research focuses on the use of smartphone apps for goal-setting purposes and influence of the set goals on increasing the average daily number of steps. In the sample of 100 participants, a statistically significant effect of goal on the average number of steps performance was observed during a 28-day period of the study. An influence of different goal difficulty on performance was also questioned, without significant effect on performance to have been found.

Karlsson, Amanda January 2023 (has links)
