This thesis sought to investigate the role of the educator role and its possibilities in the field of pediatric Hospital of University Teacher Alberto Antunes in Maceió. The hospitalization is necessary, but sometimes, results in the absence of the child to school for a long time. Hospitalizations in children are fragile, unmotivated and excluded from the educational process at school, therefore, seeking a better understanding of the role of the teacher in an area where there is no such service. This research was qualitative character, as having adopted the participatory research method, by which the teacher part of the hospital staff, held teaching appointments with the hospitalized children. The survey was conducted in 2010/2011 during the course of the Masters. For data collection were conducted semistructured interviews, life histories and records, newspaper research. This study was based on the philosophical approach to the complex and multi-thinking, as this is a component able to move toward humanization. At the time of hospitalization of children care teaching was extremely important to the lives of children in their periods of hospitalization, because it was instituting a place of learning, minimized the negative effects of hospitalization through moments of joy, smiles, conversations and listening. Children and young people have the right to study while remaining hospitalized, because education is everyone's right and there are legal safeguards for the provision of education in the hospital / Esta dissertação procurou investigar a importância da atuação do pedagogo no setor pediátrico do Hospital Universitário Professor Alberto Antunes em Maceió. A hospitalização é necessária, mas ocasiona, algumas vezes, a ausência da criança à escola por tempo prolongado. Nas hospitalizações, as crianças ficam fragilizadas, desmotivadas e excluídas do processo educativo escolar, portanto, visando uma melhor compreensão da atuação do pedagogo num espaço em que não há tal atendimento. Esta investigação foi de cunho qualitativo, tendo como método adotado a pesquisa participante, pela qual o pedagogo, fazendo parte da equipe do hospital, realizou atendimentos pedagógicos com as crianças hospitalizadas. A pesquisa foi realizada em 2010/2011 durante o período do curso do mestrado. Para a coleta de dados foram realizadas as entrevistas semi-estruturadas, as histórias de vida e para os registros, o jornal de pesquisa. Este estudo foi fundamentado na abordagem filosófica do pensamento complexo e multirreferencial, por ser esta uma vertente capaz de caminhar em direção à humanização. No momento da hospitalização das crianças, o atendimento pedagógico foi de extrema importância para suas vidas porque foi um momento instituinte de aprendizagens, as atividades minimizaram os efeitos negativos das internações por meio dos momentos de alegria, sorrisos, diálogos e escuta. As crianças e jovens hospitalizados têm o direito de estudar mesmo permanecendo hospitalizados, porque a educação é direito de todos e há garantias legais para a oferta da educação escolar para as crianças no hospital
