Nováková, Denisa January 2013 (has links)
The thesis The Personalities of the journalists - seniors in Prague intends to cover several subjects. It does not relate to present activities and opinions of the journalists - seniors only. In the first part the thesis focuses on description of the living standards of journalists at the times of so-called period of normalisation, when todays journalists - seniors were economically active. The main emphasis of the description is on the role of the Czechoslovak Union of Journalists. The thesis describes individual segments that union has affected its members through and where it provided benefits and support (abroad recreation, recreation, spa treatment, assistance in solving residential state, language courses). Materials from the Syndicate of Journalists Archive fund are used as the main source of knowledge. The essence of the second part of the thesis are standardized interviews with particular journalists - seniors. The evaluation of their answers complements the findings from the first part and adds some more findings from journalists everydayness in 70s and 80s and the role of the Czechoslovak Union of Journalists in relation to its members. Socialistický realismus a normalizace v archivu Československé televize v Ostravě a jejich reflexe po roce 1989 / Archive of photography of the czech television Ostrava (photography as a source of information)

Bednář, Marek January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on photography in the work of Television studio Ostrava, a part of Czechoslovak television, during a period of 1969-1989, called normalisation, the reflection of this period after the year 1989 and mainly the photography archive of said institution. It may be presumed that communist propaganda and other efforts of normalisation will be apparent in the documentaries and other products concentrating on photography. The region of Ostrava also has its own cultural specificity due to its mainly industrial nature; the region is characterised by coal mining and metallurgy. Thus it may be presumed that communism will be planted in the minds of the people more firmly. The thesis also contains a theoretical framework, describing socialist realism in photography and normalisation in photography as well as in the television studio in question. In order to verify these hypotheses and to discover other important facts of the topic in question, a content analysis of data available in the archive of Television studio Ostrava was carried out. The archive suffered grave losses during major flooding of Moravia and Silesia in 1997. However, some films and many actual photographs were still available for analysis. The findings relevant to each document are stated in their respective parts and are...

Pecáková, Andrea January 2016 (has links)
The thesis titled "The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970" deals with the program offer from the period of so-called Prague Spring until the end of April 1970 when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. I chose this time period because of frequent changes in politics and society, which was reflected in the media content, and thus in the TV content. This time segment is divided into four time periods in which I monitor the program offer of the TV. The first period is the period of Prague Spring, the second one is from September 1969 to April 1970 when Gustáv Husák became the first secretary of the ÚV KSČ, the third one is from May 1969 to August 1970 when Jan Zelenka became the director of Czechoslovak television (he was considered as the first normalization director) and the fourth period is from September 1969 to April 1970, when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. The main aims of this thesis are detailed description and comparison of TV offers in these four periods. To achieve the objectives a comparative analysis is used. I analyze mostly weekly magazines Československá televize of the years 1968, 1969 and 1970. Stránský, Luděk January 2016 (has links)
The thesis titled Self-reflection Of Czech Sport Journalists Working Between 1980 And 1999 In Printed Media And The Influence Of Ideology On Their Role In Society focuses on a question of whether the work of writing sport journalists was influenced by the ruling ideology before 1989. The thesis is based on biographical interviews of five sport journalists, which were taken while using the help of oral history research method. The sport journalists bring their testimonies, memories, experiences and stories associated with the period of normalization, the Velvet Revolution and the post-revolutionary period. The biggest emphasis is placed on a degree of impact of the ruling ideology on the editorial process before 1989. Therefore the thesis touches themes of self-censorship, targeted campaigns, relationships of the journalists to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia or to The National Security. The work brings views of still writing sport journalists, who evaluate their motivation to do the profession, their ongoing journalistic career and the role of sport journalists in society. This study is a contribution to oral-historical research on the period of normalization and to understanding the influence of ideology on the media activity before 1989. This thesis extends the knowledge of sports...

Drogy v socialistickém Československu / Drugs in socialist Czechoslovakia

Kolář, Jan January 2018 (has links)
The issue of drugs and drug addiction is one of the greatest unresolved (and probably unresolvable) problems of mankind. This topic encountered a rocket rise in the Czech environment especially after the Velvet Revolution. The problem itself, nevertheless, germinated in the times of Communist dictatorship. For ideological reasons, however, it has long been trivialized, concealed, or attributed to the "decadent West" and to its affiliated domestic "elements". Serious drug-related debates took place in the Normalization period almost exclusively on the pages of professional publications and magazines kept from the eyes of ordinary citizen. The topic of drug addiction began to penetrate the public space without the old ideological templates in the second half of the 1980s, in connection with liberalization after the inauguration of M.S. Gorbachev into the leader of Communists in the Soviet Union. Regardless of the "wishes and complaints" of the Communist establishment, a subculture of young drug addicts emerged in Czechoslovakia, which had its values, hierarchies, symbols and its problems too. In the 1980s, several tens of thousands of people were involved, and if we add several hundreds of thousands elderly people who abused psychotropic medications, we find out how a major problem it was in the...

OBRAZ DISIDENTA V ČESKÉ DOKUMENTÁRNÍ TVORBĚ PO ROCE 1989 / THE IMAGE OF DISSIDENT IN CZECH DOCUMENTARY FILM AFTER 1989

Kohout, Martin January 2015 (has links)
The work is attempting to describe the mental image of a dissident, the way it was most oftenly interpreted in the post Velvet revolution period films known to the public or regularly shown on the televion screens. For this purpose was chosen 53 films, which were devided according to their general interpretation and impression. I followed with an analyzation of the montage and bulding elements, that are used in these films, most oftenly shaping the opinion of the general public. The interpretations and contents of these films were compared to the results of the social-sientific research on the nature of normalization period and the dissent. Also these generally popular films were compared with the works standing outside of the mainstream documentary film, about the topic of dissent or previous regime in general. This theses is therefore refering to the problems of interpretation of the previous regime, normalization and the role of dissent in czech society.
