Foram utilizados 30 ratos machos (Rattus norvegicus, Albinus, Wistar), os quais foram divididos aleatoriamente em três grupos: controle, radioterapia 5 Gy e 15 Gy, nos quais os animais receberam doses únicas de 5 Gy e 15 Gy de radioterapia, respectivamente, localizada na região de cabeça e pescoço no segundo dia do experimento. A mensuração da taxa de erupção dentária foi realizada a cada dois dias, perfazendo o tempo total de 16 dias. As mandíbulas foram preparadas de acordo com o protocolo de histologia da FOP-UNICAMP. Os animais do grupo 5 Gy apresentaram valores da taxa de erupção dentária semelhantes ao controle, portanto não houve sinais de alteração, entretanto, os animais do grupo 15 Gy apresentaram diferença estatística na taxa de erupção dentária a partir do sexto dia do experimento. Os cortes histológicos foram realizados a partir do início da região odontogênica em direção à borda incisal do incisivo. No início da região odontogênica no grupo 5 Gy os odontoblastos apresentaram-se alterados morfologicamente e menos organizados quando comparados ao controle, e no grupo 15 Gy ocorreram irregularidades na organização dos odontoblastos e ameloblastos, alteração na formação da alça epitelial e hemorragia. Na porção mediana do grupo 5 Gy foram visualizadas alterações quando comparamos a face lingual com o controle, bem como leve alterações nos odontoblastos na região distal do dente; o órgão dentário do grupo 15 Gy apresentou visível redução do tamanho, hemorragia, odontoblastos não polarizados e produção de dentina para diferentes direções. Na região odontogênica correspondente a face distal do terceiro molar foi possível constatar leves alterações nos odontoblastos na região distal do dente do grupo 5 Gy quando se compara com o grupo controle, o grupo 15 Gy apresentou uma extensa destruição com visível redução no tamanho do dente e vasta desorganização nos odontoblastos e ameloblastos, cortes desta região apresentaram alterações mais severas que no início da região odontogênica. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância (ANOVA) e ao teste de Tukey. Conclui-se que a dose de 5 Gy causou leves e pequenas alterações morfológicas e não interferiu na taxa de erupção dentária, e a dose de 15 Gy provocou intensas alterações histológicas e estruturais na região odontogênica do incisivo de rato, e que a partir do quarto dia após a radioterapia a taxa de erupção diminuiu significativamente / Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of radiation on odontogenic mandibular rat's incisor at doses of 5 and 15 Gy, through histological analysis and measurement on the eruption rate. We used 30 male rats (Rattus norvegicus, Albinus, Wistar) were divided randomly into three groups: control, radiation 5 Gy and 15 Gy, in which the animals received single doses of 5 Gy and 15 Gy of radiotherapy, respectively, located in the head and neck on the second day of the experiment. The measurement of the rate of tooth eruption was performed every two days, making the total time of 16 days. The jaws were prepared according to the protocol histology of FOP-UNICAMP. The animals of group 5 Gy showed values of the rate of tooth eruption similar to the control, so there were no signs of alteration, however, animals in the 15 Gy group showed a statistical difference in the rate of tooth growth from the sixth day of the experiment. Sections were made from the beginning of odontogenic toward the incisal edge of the incisor. In the early odontogenic 5 Gy group showed the odontoblasts were altered morphologically and less organized when compared to control group and 15 Gy were irregularities in the organization of odontoblasts and ameloblasts, change in forming the handle and epithelial hemorrhage. In the middle portion of the 5 Gy group changes were seen when comparing the lingual to the control and mi ld changes in odontoblasts in the distal region of the tooth, the dental organ of the 15 Gy group showed visible reduction in size, hemorrhage, and not polarized odontoblasts production of dentin in different directions. In odontogenic region corresponding to the distal aspect of the third molar was possible to observe slight changes in odontoblasts in the distal region of the tooth 5 Gy group when compared with the control group, the 15 Gy group showed extensive destruction with visible reduction in the size of the tooth and extensive disruption of odontoblasts and ameloblasts, cuts of this region showed more severe changes in the early odontogenic. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test. It is concluded that the dose of 5 Gy caused a light and small morphological changes and did not affect the rate of tooth eruption, and the dose of 15 Gy resulted in severe histological and structural changes in the region of rat incisor odontogenic, and that from the fourth day radiotherapy after the eruption rate decreased significantly / Mestrado / Radiologia Odontologica / Mestre em Radiologia Odontológica
