Development of predictors for automated products recommendation.

Willian Jean Fuks 28 May 2013 (has links)
With the popularization of the internet, new types of business are emerging. An example is the online marketing system: publishers can dedicate in any given space of theirs websites a place to the printing of banners from different stores in exchange for a fee paid by the advertiser. It\'s in this context that this work takes place. Its main goal will be the development of algorithms that forecasts the probability that a given user will get interested in the ad he or she is seeing and click it. This problem is also known as CTR Prediction Task. To do so, a logistic regression approach is used combined with matrix factorization techniques that predict, through latent factor models, the probability that the click will occur. On top of that, several tests are conducted utilizing a dynamic approach (varying in function of time) revealing that the performance can increase even higher. According to the authors knowledge, this is the first time this test is conducted on the literature of CTR prediction.

Programmatic Advertising: A Quantitative Study of Consumer Attitudes Towards Highly Frequent Online Ads

Högström, Julia, Wallin, Ellen January 2017 (has links)
Because of the adaptation to technological and social changes, the advertising environment is constantly evolving and today the central part of online advertising is called Programmatic advertising. It’s an automated media buying technique that involves targeting individual consumers in real-time. However, previous research shows that high frequency is one of the most important issues within programmatic advertising and not all ads bought programmatically is in frame of a good frequency. Furthermore, theories indicate that frequency influences consumers’ attitudes towards advertising, which lead to our research question: “How does high frequency exposure affect consumers’ attitudes towards programmatic advertising?” The purpose of this research is therefore to get a deeper understanding of how highly frequent exposure of programmatic advertising affect consumers’ attitudes towards it. We found that Irritation, Invasiveness, Likeability of relevance and Recognition are terms examined in previous studies related to individually targeted advertising or frequently exposed advertising. In order to carry out an explanatory research, we measured these variables including frequency with a quantitative survey and made statistical calculations such as correlation and regression analyses to see if our hypotheses were supported. The analyses indicated average causal relationships between Frequency and Irritation as well as between Frequency and Likeability of relevance whereas the causal relationships between Frequency and the other two variables were weak. We concluded based on our study that highly frequent exposed programmatic advertising is affecting consumer attitudes both positively with relevance, and negatively causing irritation. However, the relevance that comes with programmatic advertising generates a stronger feeling of likeability than of irritation.

An investigation into the influence of targeted-Facebook advertising through mobile devices on South African consumers' advertisement perceptions

Wicht, Alina 20 September 2021 (has links)
Digital advertising has become a multi-billion-dollar industry; and it is growing tremendously each year. In times of strong market dynamics, marketers are particularly aware of Facebook advertising as a powerful advertising form. The dynamic market situation also magnifies the need for marketers to monitor and analyse consumers' perceptions. The purpose of this study was, thus, to assist marketers in understanding the influence of targeted Facebook advertising through mobile devices on South African consumers' advertisement perceptions. The form of advertising investigated was in-stream advertisements. The aim of this study was to explore the role of South African consumers' emotions in relation to these consumers' attention to the targeted in-stream advertising on Facebook delivered via mobile phones. South African consumers view videos on their mobile phone through the Facebook platform, which can be interrupted by targeted Facebook advertising. This study investigated the role that the interruption of video watching bears in relation to the interpretation and perception of the advertisement by these consumers. Another objective was to explore the role of South African consumers' attitudes towards brands in relation to what these consumers remember from the advertisements delivered through mobile targeted in-stream Facebook advertising. The sample consisted of 13 South African consumers and was acquired using purposive sampling. This study was based on a perception-formation model, which is a composition formed from the perception models of different authors. The model was investigated using qualitative interviewing and the data gathered was analysed through qualitative content analysis. The results of the study provide support for the theoretical framework and suggest that consumers' perception of in-stream advertising on Facebook is influenced by various factors such as the nature of Facebook usage, emotions, the disruption caused by the advertising, the attitude towards the brand and the Facebook video viewed. Marketers may be able to influence consumers' perception of in-stream advertisements through more precise targeting, a better fit between the in-stream advertisements and the video and by limiting the advertisement occurrence. By shedding light on South African consumers' perceptions of targeted in-stream advertising on Facebook, this thesis could serve as a basis for marketers' decisions, and also lay the foundations for future academic research in this field.

Analysis of Chinese millennial consumers' preference for online advertising channel in China / Analys av kinesiska milleniumkonsumenters preferenser av internetbaserade kanaler för marknadsföring i Kina

Zhang, Liwen, Song, Jinjing, Li, Xinyu January 2020 (has links)
An increasing number of foreign companies want to enter the Chinese market. Online advertising is one of the indispensable means of the company's operation and marketing, and foreign companies poorly understood the online advertising channels in China. Therefore, this study uses the AISAS model to study the preferences of Chinese millennial generation Taobao users for online advertising channels. And research through three dimensions are gender, city level and different product categories. Specifically, this research through online questionnaires and finally collected 150 samples, it was found that Chinese millennial generation Taobao users favored the promotion of WeChat public accounts, followed by Pre-movie adverts. Further, the study confirms that consumers do have preferences for online advertising choices and that they will change as they are placed on different e-commerce platforms. Based on the previous study's interpretation of preferences, the preferences are defined as five exact post behaviors to better evaluate consumers' choices for online advertising. Moreover, through data analysis, it is found that there are differences between male and female online advertising channels among Chinese millennial generation Taobao users. Females prefer online advertising channels that are interactive than males such as live streaming. Males prefer online advertising channels that are dominated by pictures/images for instance mini banners in App and Web. In addition, live streaming has an advantage in the household goods category.
