Den effektiva gruppen hjälp av Open Space

Danishmand, Idris, Ibrahim Osman, Reving January 2013 (has links)

Investigating the scholarly communications needs of faculty at the University of Saskatchewan: Is there a role for the University Library?

Dawson, Diane January 2013 (has links)
This study seeks to understand the current publishing behaviours and attitudes of faculty, across all disciplines, at the U of S in response to the growing significance of OA publishing and archiving. The broad objective of this research is to discover what the current and emerging needs of U of S researchers are in order to determine if scholarly communications services are in demand here. And, if so, to provide an evidence-based foundation for the potential future development of such a program of services at the University Library. / Slides from a presentation given at EBLIP7, Saskatoon, July 2013.

Open Borders

Horwitz, Vicki Shana 08 August 2008 (has links)
This paper looks at the topic of immigration from a philosophical standpoint and concludes that an open border policy is morally obligatory. I first argue that immigration cannot act as a corrective to the problems of global poverty as many philosophers have suggested. I then look at two common defenses for restrictive borders, one resting on the cultural community and one on the political community, and conclude that these two defenses are inadequate. The fact that a restrictive policy is morally unjustifiable coupled with my argument that people ought to be able to enjoy a freedom of movement suggests that an open border policy is necessary.

Teachers', parents', and students' perceptions of effective school characteristics of two Texas urban exemplary open-enrollment charter schools

Albert - Green, DeEadra Florence 01 November 2005 (has links)
The primary purpose of this study was to examine how teachers, parents, and students viewed their charter school as effective when effectiveness was defined by the following 11 characteristics: (a) instructional leadership, (b) clear mission, (c) safe and orderly environment, (d) positive school climate, (e) high expectations, (f) frequent monitoring, (g) basic skills, (h) opportunities for learning, (i) parent and community involvement, (j) professional development and (k) teacher involvement. Two exemplary open-enrollment charter schools in Texas were used in this study. All 24 teacher, parent, and student participants completed a questionnaire that addressed characteristics analyzed for each group. The 72 participants in this quantitative study were randomly chosen to respond to items on the School Effectiveness Questionnaire developed by Baldwin, Freeman, Coney, Fading, and Thomas. Data from the completed questionnaires were reported using descriptive statistics and frequency data. Major research findings for the study were as follows: 1. There was agreement among teachers, parents, and students regarding 5 characteristics. These characteristics were: (a) safe and orderly environment, (b) positive school climate, (c) high student expectations, (d) frequent student assessment, and (e) monitoring of achievement and basic skills. 2. Teachers and parents agreed their school demonstrated effective instructional leadership, a clear and focused mission, and a maximized opportunity for learning. On the other hand, students were uncertain their school provided maximum opportunities for learning. 3. Only parents and students were in agreement concerning the parental involvement in their school. In contrast, teachers were uncertain their school provided parent and community involvement. 4. Teachers were also uncertain their school provided strong professional development and included them in the decision-making process for the school.

Node.js in Open Source projects on Github : A literature study and exploratory case study

Åkesson, Anders, Lewenhagen, Kenneth January 2015 (has links)
This study has been performed with an aim to provide an insight into how Node.js is used and the Node.js technology adaptation in the open source community. This research displays the diversity of Node.js and can inspire the reader to further development or continued research. Studies into different usages of Node.js have been missing in academic research and therefore this study gives a new, important insight into this technology. The authors used the exploratory case study methodology. For data collection, the authors created a JQuery and HTML script that fetched the desired dataset from Github and that were used as a static base for the study. Based on the usage areas extracted from the literature study, the authors specified different categories of usage. The dataset was manually investigated and placed into the categories, if they were relevant. The results show that web applications is by far the most well represented category with over 50% of all usages falling into this category. Network applications and Web servers come in at second and third position with 14% and 13% respectively. This study provided further categories and the authors could generate a set of diagrams, showing a trend on how the different usage areas changed from 2010 to 2015.
