An Investigation from the Interaction between the Troop's Public Affairs Divisions and the Journalists of the Media.

Sun, Chien-Ping 30 July 2007 (has links)
In order to meet the innovation of military affairs in recent years, no matter the military strength, troop formation or the research and development for the national army of new generation, major military maneuvers, recruitment demand of military talents, actual training situation of troops, or the handling and explanation of important news events, the Ministry of National Defense and the various armed services adopt more open ways by inviting the local and foreign media to report the events on the spot, thus letting all the people of Taiwan understand the changes of the national army through the press release, and tightening the interaction between the army and the journalists. Nevertheless, due to the difference in organization properties, there exists an inborn opposing relationship between the national army and the media. Despite the close interaction between the two parties, the relationship is sometimes good, sometimes bad. They are always suspected of violating or disclosing the military secrets, affecting the image of the national army or flourishing the expose culture, so the relationship between both parties is always in a tense situation. The study aims at conducting the investigation from the interaction between the troops of different organizational characteristics and the journalists of the media. By using the way of in-depth interviews, and taking the four troop members of ¡§Public Affairs Divisions¡¨ established in the southern district of the national army as well as the news reporters that are responsible for the contacts with the army during the ordinary days and the interviews with these four troops, as the targets, the study investigates the interacting relationship and models between the troops and the media, and the factors affecting the organizational characteristics of interaction between the two parties. Finally, the study gives practical suggestions for the operation of Public Affairs Division after establishment and the handling of the relationship with the media. The research results are referential to the study of military mass media. The study acquires the following findings: 1. There is no significant difference in the interaction between the troops of different organizational characteristics and the journalists. 2. The supports of supervisors are the main factor affecting the interaction between the troops and the journalists. 3. The interacting model between the troops and the journalists inclines to be a ¡§competitive interacting model.¡¨ 4. The expansion of contact area between the troops and the journalists is helpful to the establishment of a good interaction between the two parties, especially the establishment of private relationship in between, which will be advantageous to the promotion of the news work of the troops. 5. The professional functions of Public Affairs Division of the troops have not been exerted. There is a lack of training for the staff of news release system.

The effect of environment, strategy and organizational characteristics on the performance of accounting information systems.

Chang, Yeun-Wen 25 June 2002 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of environment, strategy, and organizational characteristics on the performance of accounting information systems (AIS). The degree of environment competition (EC) and perceived environmental uncertainty (EU) were adopted as the variables of environment. This research divided strategy into four dimensions: cost leadership (CL), marketing differential (MD), innovation differential (ID), and strategy breadth (SB). Organizational characteristics were measured by organic organization structure (OS) and task uncertainty (TU). The research also chose information scope (IS), timeliness (TI), aggregation (AG) and integration (IN) as the AIS characteristics to be studied within each dimension. User participation (UP) and top management support (TS) were adopted as the variables of organization support. User satisfaction (US), operation improvement (OP), and managerial performance (MP) were used as the surrogate to measure the performance of AIS. The responses of 143 managers were drawn from a cross-industry sample in Taiwan. The path analysis, MANOVA, and OLS regression were employed to test the hypotheses. The empirical results were as follow: First, the study illustrated the result of research model. (a) The degree of EC has direct and significant effect on IS and IN. And EU only has significant effect on IS. Besides, EC also has direct and significant effect on UP and TS. (b) This research find that CL has significant negative effect on IS, AG, IN, and TS. MD also has significant negative effect on AG and IN. CL, MD, ID, and SB were all have positive effect on TI. (c) OS has positive effect on IS, IN, and TS. TU has positive effect on IS. (d) AG and IN have positive effects on US, OP, and MP. IS has positive effect on US and TI has positive effect on MP. Finally, UP also has positive effect on US and MP. Second, the effect of strategy on the characteristics of AIS and organization support. (a) The enterprises pursuing MD, ID, or SB strategy need more broad-scope and higher integration information than adopting CL strategy enterprise. (b) The enterprises pursuing CL, MD, or ID strategy need more timely information than adopting SB strategy enterprise. (c) The enterprises pursuing SB strategy need more aggregation information than adopting CL strategy enterprise. (d) The enterprises pursuing MD, ID, or SB strategy put more emphasis than adopting CL strategy enterprise on the UP and TS. Third, the effect of contingency factors. (a) When a company facing higher degree of EC and EU, more broad-scope information could effectively enhance user satisfaction, operation improvement and managerial performance. (b) When a company pursuing CL strategy, higher degree of aggregation information will improve operation procedure. When a company¡¦s goal was for marketing differential, more timely and integration information were needed and less aggregated information should be provided for a better performance of OP and MP. When a company was pursuing ID strategy, AIS should provide more timely information. When a company was pursuing SB strategy, more emphasis should be on aggregation and integration information. (c) When a company pursuing MD strategy, OS structure, or facing higher TU, the emphasis on UP will improve US and MP.

Racial Disproportionality as Experienced by Educators of Color: Job Satisfaction of Teachers and Administrators of Color

Guzzi, Diana January 2018 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Lauri Johnson / This individual study was part of a larger group case study about how educators of color experience racial disproportionality in the Cityside Public Schools (pseudonym). The purpose of this individual study was to identify factors that influence job satisfaction for teachers and administrators of color and how teachers and administrators of color perceive how these factors might influence their job retention. This study included both teachers and administrators of color from one urban school district in Eastern Massachusetts, the Cityside Public Schools (CPS). Data sources included 11 semi-structured interviews with educators of color and 40 completed Likert scale surveys measuring job satisfaction and retention. The data was collected during a one-month period. All data was coded thematically using three levels of ecological framework, as well as factors that contribute to job satisfaction and retention. The interview data was coded first, and then the survey data was coded. The data was coded using identified themes from previous research, as well as new themes that emerged from the interviews. All the data was then combined and synthesized to determine findings and make recommendations. This individual study found that many of the Cityside participants were satisfied with their job, while still recognizing that their work is challenging. Factors that influenced their job satisfaction were embedded in themes of connections, support, racial identity, resources and fatigue. These factors, except for the last, predicted slightly higher rates of perceived retention within the district among the teachers of color than the administrators of color. / Thesis (EdD) — Boston College, 2018. / Submitted to: Boston College. A Multilevel Analysis of Organizational Characteristics, Employer Knowledge and Job seekers' Intention to Apply: Perspective of Employment Brand Equity

Tsai, Kun-Chan 25 June 2007 (has links)
Previous works on organizational attractiveness always focused only on organizational-level factors, such like organizational or work characteristics. However, there are only limited researches discussing the influence of individual-level issues. Therefore, the multi-level theory will be applied to this paper to discuss the relationship among organizational characteristics, employer knowledge and job seeker¡¦s intention to apply. Moreover, this paper draws on marketing concepts of consumer-based brand equity to the recruitment context to identify the dimensions of employer knowledge. Based on data collected from 43 companies and 329 job seekers in the job fair, the finding suggests that organizational size is significant and positively related to both job seekers¡¦ employer knowledge and their intention to apply. Furthermore, all of the dimensions of employer knowledge are significant predictors of job seekers¡¦ intention to apply. Specially, the result also shows that organizational size is significant related to job seekers¡¦ intention to apply through employer knowledge. While taking employer knowledge into consideration, organizational size¡¦s initial influence on job seekers¡¦ intention to apply is completely disappearing. This finding confirms the mediate effect of employer knowledge between organizational characteristics and job seekers¡¦ intention to apply.

Silva, Eliza Albuquerque da 24 September 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-25T16:44:45Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Eliza Albuquerque da Silva.pdf: 788447 bytes, checksum: af0398d70b9a30695b24e4dab66e13a4 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-09-24 / In an increasingly more dynamic environment, doubts have been cast on the validity of the existing models of organizational change and its implementation, as they assume a return to stability. In this regard, it is relevant to review the main theories related to the theme to establish the basis of a proposed approach that will take this increased dynamic feature into account, as well as check the validity of this model by conducting a research with companies working in Brazil. For that, the existing dialog between organizations seen as change flows and the implementation of sporadic changes was explored. The latter was considered a mechanism for directing the continuity of changes. However, the theory points out the importance of implementing such changes in organizations that have favorable characteristics to adaptability and flexibility. Hence this study proposes an approach for the issue of organizational change in dynamic environments based on the pillars of robust process to direct sporadic changes and the development of favorable organizational characteristics. This approach may allow for organizations to be more successful in the results of their change initiatives, besides contributing to the maintenance of their competitive places, and therefore in keeping with their financial results. This approach's validity was tested through a quantitative research applied to 211 companies of various sizes and sectors in Brazil. Research results confirmed that the more robust the change processes and the more favorable organizational characteristics are shown, the better are the results achieved through such initiatives, according to the respondents' perception. The study also made it possible to learn that besides the correlation between processes and organizational characteristics, these aspects are also correlated with the perception of improved financial results / Em um ambiente cada vez mais dinâmico, tem se questionado a validade dos modelos existentes para a condução de mudança organizacional, uma vez que pressupõem retorno à estabilidade.
