Doležalová Kamila. Gender pay gap in education within Ostrava district. Diploma thesis. Brno : Mendel University, 2019. This diploma thesis looks into wage differences between men and women employed in sector of education within the district of the city of Ostrava. Its main objective is to determine the level of the gender pay gap in sector of education in the Ostrava district and to compare this result with the national average. The thesis also examines the factors that cause gender pay gap in this area, gender stereotypes, interpersonal relationships in the workplace and gender discrimination. In the literature research, the reader is acquainted with the basic concepts related to gender pay gap, its causes and possibilities of reduction. The field of education and the Ostrava district are characterized in the own part of the thesis, the results of questionnaire research and semi-structured interviews are presented. Based on these findings, concrete measures are proposed to remedy the situation.

This diploma thesis deals with proposal of geocaching oriented educational trails in Ostrava-Karvina region on which stops are placed already existing caches or suggestions of their placement. Given that coal mining has more than two hundred year long tradition in this area, every stop on trails with caches are mining oriented. Basic problematic concerning this topic is outlined in literature overview while the research part of this thesis is focused on draft of 4 different educational trails with mining theme consisting either thorough description of already existing caches or newly designed ones. Research part also contains a questionnaire given to active cachers which aim was to determine the interest in said trails and their overall potential. Lastly the research part was complemented by guided interview with experienced cacher. In conclusion of the thesis are formulated drafts for utilization of these educational trails.

This thesis deals with the development of mining and mining colonies in the Ostrava region and also deals with the interpretation of interviews with miners performing their profession in the Ostrava-Karviná mining district between years 1950 and 1994. It focuses not only on the development of the environment and mining conditions in the Ostrava region, but also reasons and motivations for choosing a demanding and often life-threatening profession, as mining is. The thesis is produced using inductive method, where the processes at the individual level apply to wider groups. Such processing allows me to process interviews with witnesses alongside traditional written sources. The finding of the thesis is the fact that there are three main motives for the choosing of mining profession, which are family tradition, the possibility of not participating in two-year compulsory military training and last but not least, the above-standard wage. The thesis offers another view on how workers in socialist Czechoslovakia lived.

The topic of angels in the spirituality of practicing Catholics Abstract The aim of the thesis is to investigate what is the impact of new religious movements' concepts on practicing Catholics in Ostrava region, especially focused on angel's topic. The first part of the thesis introduces the Catholic doctrine on angles. In the second chapter new religious movements' view on the angelic beings is introduced. Into consideration mostly written texts by new movements' authors are taken, especially of these with the biggest influence on Czech spiritual sphere. The third part analyses how deeply active Catholics are influenced by new movements' ideas and their angels' concepts. The diploma thesis Analysis of destination management in the Ostrava region is about relations between the Ostrava tourist region and tourism itself. Formerly-by-tourism-untouched region has experienced development of the tourism industry and this fact has lead to a need of an effective tourist destination management approach. The destination marketing and management is not done by one superior institution but it is performed by many subjects. The most important ones are the Ostrava city and the Moravian-Silesian Region. The thesis analyzes their planned and realized projects and destination products. The end is dedicated to a suggestion of a new destination product - the Ostrava tourist card.
