ON INTERSECTIONS OF LOCAL ARTHUR PACKETS FOR CLASSICAL GROUPS

Alexander Lynn Hazeltine (15348286) 26 April 2023 (has links)
<p>In this thesis, for symplectic and split odd special orthogonal groups over a p-adic field, we provide an extensive account of the intersection of local Arthur packets. More specifically, following Atobe's reformulation of Moeglin's construction of local Arthur packets, we give precise algorithms to determine whether a given representation lies in any local Arthur packet. Furthermore, if the representation does lie in a local Arthur packet, we give a systematic approach to determine all the other local Arthur packets which also contain the representation. These algorithms are based on certain operators which act on certain construction data coming from Atobe's parametrization of the local Arthur packets.</p>

Applications of Multiwavelets to Image Compression

Martin, Michael B. 16 November 1999 (has links)
Methods for digital image compression have been the subject of much study over the past decade. Advances in wavelet transforms and quantization methods have produced algorithms capable of surpassing the existing image compression standards like the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) algorithm. For best performance in image compression, wavelet transforms require filters that combine a number of desirable properties, such as orthogonality and symmetry. However, the design possibilities for wavelets are limited because they cannot simultaneously possess all of these desirable properties. The relatively new field of multiwavelets shows promise in removing some of the limitations of wavelets. Multiwavelets offer more design options and hence can combine all desirable transform features. The few previously published results of multiwavelet-based image compression have mostly fallen short of the performance enjoyed by the current wavelet algorithms. This thesis presents new multiwavelet transform methods and measurements that verify the potential benefits of multiwavelets. Using a zerotree quantization scheme modified to better match the unique decomposition properties of multiwavelets, it is shown that the latest multiwavelet filters can give performance equal to, or in many cases superior to, the current wavelet filters. The performance of multiwavelet packets is also explored for the first time and is shown to be competitive to that of wavelet packets in some cases. The wavelet and multiwavelet filter banks are tested on a much wider range of images than in the usual literature, providing a better analysis of the benefits and drawbacks of each. REORDERING PACKET BASED DATA IN REAL-TIME DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEMS

Kilpatrick, Stephen, Rasche, Galen, Cunningham, Chris, Moodie, Myron, Abbott, Ben 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2007 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Third Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 22-25, 2007 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Ubiquitous internet protocol (IP) hardware has reached performance and capability levels that allow its use in data collection and real-time processing applications. Recent development experience with IP-based airborne data acquisition systems has shown that the open, pre-existing IP tools, standards, and capabilities support this form of distribution and sharing of data quite nicely, especially when combined with IP multicast. Unfortunately, the packet based nature of our approach also posed some problems that required special handling to achieve performance requirements. We have developed methods and algorithms for the filtering, selecting, and retiming problems associated with packet-based systems and present our approach in this paper.

CCSDS in the Loral 550

Sutton, Jerry, Taylor, Larry 11 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 30-November 02, 1995 / Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada / The Consultative Committee on Space Data Systems (CCSDS) did not create a specification like the IRIG 106, but rather a recommendation [1-4]. That means that each country, community, and application is free to select subsets, adapt techniques, and even alter the structure to suit particular needs. This variability places new demands on a decommutation system. The implementation of the CCSDS Recommendation in the Loral 550 accommodates this "variability within a structure" by using a modular and adaptable collection of structured components. The result covers the two most popular versions of CCSDS: Conventional/Telecommand and the Advanced Orbital Systems (AOS) in both operational and test modes, and couples the CCSDS inputs and outputs to a host of other data format and processing options.

Mixed Quantum/Semiclassical Theory for Small-Molecule Dynamics and Spectroscopy in Low-Temperature Solids

Cheng, Xiaolu 11 July 2013 (has links)
A quantum/semiclassical theory for the internal nuclear dynamics of a small molecule and the induced small-amplitude coherent motion of a low-temperature host medium is developed, tested and applied to simulate and interpret ultrafast optical signals. Linear wave-packet interferometry and time-resolved coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering signals for a model of molecular iodine in a 2D krypton lattice are calculated and used to study the vibrational decoherence and energy dissipation of iodine molecules in condensed media. The total wave function of the whole model is approximately obtained instead of a reduced system density matrix, and therefore the theory enables us to analyze the behavior and the role of the host matrix in quantum dynamics. This dissertation includes previously published co-authored material.

Estudio de Técnicas de Selección de Bancos de Filtros Inducidos por Wavelet Packets para Extracción de Características en Reconocimiento de Voz

Pavez Carvelli, Eduardo Hernán January 2011 (has links)
