När konkurrensen på arbetsmarknaden ökar så krävs det en funktionell strategi hos företagen för att behålla kvar kompetent personal inom organisationen. Genom att motivera de anställda med tydliga mål och klara visioner skapas goda förutsättningar för ett bra arbetsklimat. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur fem medarbetare i ett spelutvecklingsföretag upplever motivationsstrategins konstruktion, funktion och inverkan. En hermeneutisk metodansats valdes och data samlades in genom fem halvstrukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer. Intervjuerna transkriberades, kodades och analyserades med hjälp av Atlas.ti och NCT-modellen. Resultatet visar på att motivationsstrategier upplevs vara det som skapar, leder samt bibehåller motivationen hos de anställda. I studien så relateras empirin till Maslows behovstrappa, Herzbergs tvåfaktorsteori samt Deci och Ryans’s self-determination teori.
