Model Pohyblivé třídy v současné waldorfské škole / Movable Classroom Concept in contemporary Waldorf School

This master thesis introduces innovative approach to teaching practice at Waldorf schools, the so called movable classroom. This model originates in German Waldorf schools, primarily from Rudolf Steiner Schule in Bochum. Its main specific is furnishing the classroom with movable equipment, which creates the possibility for greater variability in organizing the space by implementation of weekly outdoor learning and change in the timing set up of teaching units. The research question of this work is meaningfulness of the movable classroom model, it specifically concerns itself with the question, whether it is possible to observe the benefits of movable classroom model for physical, psychological, social and cognitive development of children, while teacher simultaneously takes into account the current limitations of this model. Following observation in the classrooms, which work according to this model and researching contemporary literature, individual categories of both benefits and risks have been specified. Through follow up interviews with teachers, these categories are verified and exactified through actual situations, the research question is answered and further possibilities for working with this model in Czech Waldorf schools are explored.

Postavení vědy a vědeckých autorit v mediální agendě před první světovou válkou (výzkumná sonda) / Position of science authorities in media agenda before the World War I. (research probe)

The aim of this work is at least partially to map the position of the scientific theme in magazines produced in the end of 19th century and by the beginning of 20th century with focus on technical progress reflection and partial presence of additional scientific themes. The theoretical part of this work summarizes the role of science in the Czech society from the end of 18th century and presents the main personalities, turning points and processes (mainly industrial revolution) that formed the media discourse by the end of the 19th century. The practical part is dedicated to analyzing of chosen magazines Čas, Naše doba, Česká revue, Český svět a Světozor (Illustrovaný svět) in various periods of time. Firstly, there is a connection concerned with the year 1886, the age of manuscript polemics and "our two questions". Subsequently, it is analyzed the position of science at the turn of the century that was considerably influenced with the general process of technique penetration through society praxis. The last period researched is the pre-war time between years 1912 - 1914, when technical inventions were highly used in the military sphere and were also responsible for a massive militarization.

This thesis is aimed at the darker sides of assisted reproduction and it urges us to consider difficult questions related to the value of human life and human dignity. These two mentioned values are the methods of assisted reproduction. Scientific progress in the field of medical science evokes a lot of ethical, social and legal questions.The goal of the thesis is to identify and analyse ethical prolems of assisted reroduction and to present each solution to an ethical decision. The thesis is integral to my own wellfounded way of solution to the chosen ethical problems. This thesis deals with issues of social functioning of infertile couples and social consultancy.

"Budiž světlo!" Veřejné osvětlení v českých městech v 19. a na počátku 20. století / "Fiat lux!" Public Lighting in Czech Towns in 19th and the Beginning of 20th Century

The phenomenon of introducing public lighting in Czech cities is mainly associated with the increase in population in regionally important centres of industry, trade, craft, or administration. Unlike classical historiographical monographs, this work aims to investigate how the introduction of public lighting took place, who was involved in it, and what was at stake. Through the analysis of literary sources, particularly newspaper articles (both national and local) and archival records, the thesis seeks to highlight the attributes of light not only as a purely practical urban element, but also as a carrier of symbolic levels of security and progress. It is shown that light played an important role as a maintainer of security and prevented criminal behaviour by its presence. It is further revealed that light was a manifestation of civilization, education, and progress. Having public lighting on the streets was therefore not only a practical but also a symbolic issue. It was also reflected in the electoral programs of local political parties. It was not, however, the municipalities that incurred considerable costs in upgrading the lighting infrastructure (setting up gas plants, power stations, laying pipes); it was private entities that entered into contracts with municipalities for decades.
