Wind power in ChinaZhou, Yun, Wang, Quanfeng January 2009 (has links)

n today's complex environment, clear and sustainable energy is needed to support society development. How to develop the sustainable energy is a core issue in China. Compared with traditional energy, Wind energy has many advantages such as non-fuel cost, less pollution. And wind energy has the absolute advantage that it is worldwide available. In many courtiers, wind energy has become a major part of their plans for sustainable development. The primary goal of this paper is to analysis advantages and disadvantages of wind power in China and the development potential of wind power in China. In this paper the main methodology is using the information about wind power in China, which is including current situation, development stage, industry development stage, and combining the real case to analysis wind power development potential in China. There are six parts of this paper which are the overview of wind power in china; case description, analysis, conclusions, suggestion, development perspectives and imagination In the first part, the overview of wind power in china, the history of wind power in china, wind resource distribution, wind power development stages, the situation of some key regions, wind power industry develop stage and also some policies about wind power of Chinese government are discussed. The goal of this part is giving some fundamental information about wind power in China. In the second part, a real case has been described, and according to this case, the construction cost of a wind power plant in China has been discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of wind power are also analyzed based on this case study, such as long-team return, environmental impact, and also some other problem analysis. After the analysis parts, there are the conclusion parts, those parts are about the development perspectives and imagination of wind power in China.

TaiPower is the only power company in Taiwan engaged in the businesses of power generation, transmission, and distribution, and it has been operated as a state monopoly. However, under the impact of liberalization of power industry, it is losing its competitive edge as a state monopoly. A great challenge facing TaiPower is how to bolster its customer service within a short timeframe in order to safeguard its customer base and market share. Since TaiPower¡¦s Branch Offices are in the forefront of serving customers and generating new revenues, it is the main purpose of this thesis to find ways to strengthen their sales and marketing. To this aim, the thesis first explores the impact and influence of power industry liberalization on TaiPower, followed by an analysis of the marketing challenges facing the TaiPower¡¦s Branch Offices versus their competitive advantage. Finally, this thesis proposes a marketing strategy in response to the power industry¡¦s liberalization.
The research on ¡§Marketing Strategy for TaiPower¡¦s Branch Offices¡¨ resulted in the following recommendations:
1.The Branch Offices should adapt and follow the business principles of ¡§Integrity, Caring, Innovation, and Service¡¨ in concert with Headquarters.
2.The Branch Offices should work with Headquarters to restructure the corporate culture to transform from a ¡§producer culture¡¨ to a ¡§service culture¡¨.
3.The Branch Offices should fortify service-based marketing to preserve their market advantages.
a.Simplify all application workflows for customers.
b.Segregate target markets into groups to provide customized service for each group.
c.Set competitive pricing and strengthen integrated marketing.
d.Open up communication channels, and protect customers¡¦ rights and interest.
4.Each Branch Office should enhance its power distribution network, and improve the quality of the power.
a.Expand power distribution network and equipment.
b.Revamp antiquated power distribution lines.
c.Improve the quality of power.
5.Each Branch Office should strengthen its core competencies, and improve its business efficiency and effectiveness.
a.Advance core technologies in power distribution.
b.Advance core technologies in power sales.
c.Pay close attention to the quality of internal services and boost employees¡¦ satisfaction with the company.
d.Improve knowledge management and promote e-services.
6.Each Branch Office should fulfill its duties as a corporate citizen, and establish a good corporate image.
a.Put into practice the culture of safety and improve environmental protection.
b.Take good care of employees and pay attention to the needs of the society to project a good corporate image.

Taiwan Power Company (the Company) is devoted to the development and operation for the power industry in Taiwan, which is the driving power to Taiwan industry. By the ¡§quality¡¨ analysis of the Company¡¦s organization, changes and innovation, and the ¡§quantity¡¨ analysis of changes of the Company¡¦s operation data (during 2004 to 2008), we discuss the impact and influence on the Company¡¦s operation under Taiwan government¡¦s environmental protection and saving policies in such circumstances of more and more importance on environment issues.
We adopt ¡§SWOT¡¨ analysis of the Company¡¦s action to environmental protection policy. On the points of view form two sides, government policy and the Company¡¦s operation, we interview some power industries, academic communities and official communities, and by means of case study to summarize their suggestion to the Company¡¦s strategies for facing environmental protection policy. From the concepts of enhancing power control and reducing operation costs, we put the strategies and action plans for the Company, and hope to ensure its long-term competition advantage.

Innovation System Wind Energy Industry / Innovation Management in the Wind Power IndustryGnauck, Robert January 2011 (has links)
The wind industry has arrived at a state of technological maturity and is occasionally already today cost-competitive to conventional sources of energy. This thesis investigates the process of innovation that took place within the industry. A theoretical background into economical theory of innovation together with a status quo assessment of today's wind industry serves as introduction to the topic. In the analytical part, inducement mechanisms and functions of technological development will be identified as crucial drivers for innovation within the sector. The key findings of this thesis lead to conclude that it is now the responsibility of the industry to becoming fully cost-competitive to conventional sources. The advancement of technological lifecycle will primarily depend on turbine manufacturers and their capability to drive innovation more independently from governments.

Electric power industry structure and independent power producer's strategy in TaiwanWu, Yeong-Tzong 18 June 2002 (has links)
Abstract
Electricity is an indispensable power in our modern life and it has an important impact on our daily life and the development of a nation¡¦s economy. Traditionally, it has been controlled and protected by the government, thus it has caused the power producers pay no attention to cost and efficiency. Through the electric power industry liberalization, the market will have more competition and it can increase the efficiency in management.
The foundation of the electric power industry liberalization is the industry structures and market systems. Different industry structures will have different market systems thus producing different impacts in electric power industry. The power producers must use different strategies regarding to different management and circumstances to insure their best interests. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the circumstances and structures of electric power industry in Taiwan, This paper also talks about the strategies under different electric power market systems and management from the viewpoints of independent power producers. The power producers in Taiwan are in a difficult situation. Under the development of electric power industry liberalization, the government must consider the conditions of power producers, therefore, the authorities must speed up making rules and regulations and establishing electric power market systems. The government needs to set up a fair competition and efficient environment.
Take the consideration of their own benefits, the independent power producers might use the following strategies: Build up less pollution facilities to reduce the cost of electricity. Borrow money from banks to increase the price of electricity. Using the strategy of bidding to gain more profits.
