Patroni, klienti, příbuzní. Sociální svět Starého Města pražského ve 14. století / Patrons, Clients, and Relatives: The Social World of the Old Town Prague in the 14th Century

Musílek, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The present work focuses on the analysis of two main sources: the court book with market entries (Libri judiciorum or Libri contractuum), and lists of new city residents from the years 1324-1393. The text is divided into several chapters. Besides the description and presentation of the two main types of sources, a critical examination of the basic literature is undertaken, and the methodology of social topography is introduced. An outline of spatial mobility was created, including a basic topographical image of the city and its variations, though an examination of the Old Town real estate markets (especially houses and rural estates). Attention was given to the topographic situation of the Jewish Town, which formed an important part of the medieval urban complex, with coexistence of Christians and Jews within the city. Some aspects of urban migration could be observed, though analysis of the list of new city residents. This is generally regarded not only as an indicator of economic development of the city, but also allows one to monitor the demographic crisis of urban society. Given that a lender had to vouch for each new city resident, lists of new arrivals to the ranks of city burghers also suggest connections and relationships between people. In rare cases, it is possible to link data from the judicial...

Josef Čapek: "V barokním temnosvitu". / Chiaroscuro and Josef Čapek.

Rozbořilová, Adéla January 2018 (has links)
This thesis deals with literary work of Josef Čapek in relation to the concept of visual contrast. First, the historical background is set up, with highlights of then exposed interest in Baroque era on one hand, and increasing threat of World War II on the other. Both of these moments were relevant in connection with one of the most crucial cultural events in First Czechoslovak Republic: the exhibition of Pražské baroko 1600-1800. The essential hypothesis suggests that based on what has been indicated, some elements of the Baroque aesthetics appeared to be relevant for Josef Čapek's unique artisic expression as well, since they became subject of integration to his aesthetic frame. In this respect, the common ground between Čapek's modern artistic approach and Baroque aesthetics is believed to be shaped by the notion of visuality. Finally, these ideas are applicated on Čapek most prominently Baroque-influenced works, Kulhavý poutník and Psáno do mraků. Keywords: Josef Čapek, Baroque, exhibition, Pražské baroko 1600-1800, visuality, contrast, chiaroscuro, Kulhavý poutník, Psáno do mraků

Intelektuální dějiny českého reformního komunismu 1968 - 1990 / Intellectual History of Czech Reform Communism 1968 - 1990

Andělová, Kristina January 2021 (has links)
The main topic of the dissertation is the development and changes in the political thinking of Czech reform communism from 1968. While in the 1960s reform communism represented the dominant intellectual and political current, after the military invasion in August 1968 it gradually disappeared from the public discourse and was later completely suppressed by normalization propaganda and labeled as "counter- revolutionary" and "right-wing opportunist" ideology. The central questions of the thesis explore the changes that the political project of reform communism underwent during the twenty-one-year normalization period and the shifts that took place in the "horizon of expectation" of the Czechoslovak socialist opposition in the context of the intellectual and political changes of the 1970s and 1980s. The aim of the thesis is to explain the political perspectives of reform-communist intellectuals in the Czechoslovak opposition after 1968. They represented an important part of both domestic and especially exile opposition, which formed around the journal Listy. Some of them also played an important role in the creation of Charter 77 and its legalistic criticism. Nevertheless, their story does not fully fit into the traditional narrative of Czechoslovak dissent, as they never completely parted ways with...

Město Tábor v období tzv. pražského jara a v počátcích normalizace (1968-1970) / The Town Tábor in the era of the "Prague's spring" and in the beginning of normalisation (1968-1970)

Rozkydalová, Pavla January 2016 (has links)
The paper primarily aims to depict the cultural life in the district city of Tábor against a background of the 1968 - 1970 historical events. The author describes, against the historical background, the individual cultural events and the life of the city, as well as the influence of political events which had the result that the city, and indeed the entire country, returned to the era preceding the "golden sixties". Employing the method of oral history, the author has interviewed narrators who had a proactive relationship to the cultural events in the city. Their testimonies were used as a basis for selecting topics which illustrate the cultural movement in the late 1960s as a period of liberalisation ending with normalisation which suppressed the cultural development of the city; the author especially invokes those events which were irreconcilable with the subsequent political developments in the country. The paper also refers to other resources which outline the atmosphere of the era, namely resources provided by the political authorities of the city and the Tábor City Chronicle. Using the testimonies provided by the narrators and the archival resources, the author has endeavoured to paint the most accurate picture of the atmosphere surrounding the events happening in the city in the said period....
