The study is about the effects of teenage pregnancy on learning and teaching in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools of Butterworth District. The researcher’s objective of the study was to determine how pregnancy affects the learner’s performance on learning and teaching in schools. Qualitative paradigm informed the study. The participants were drawn from teenagers; teachers and parents areall from rural schools, around Butterworth Education District through the use of non-probability, purposive and convenient samples. The sample included learners from ages 13-19 who were pregnant and those who were once pregnant while in schools, teachers who taught pregnant learners in their schools and parents who were having pregnant children at schools. A total of fifteen (15) participants were involved in the interview. The data collected was analyzed and interpreted during data collection and thereafter. The findings of the study showed that absenteeism, drop-out, poor academic performance, poverty and unemployment which are the results of pregnancy are some of the contributory factors that affect learning and teaching in schools. Recommendations were made based on the findings of the study. The study concludes by recommending awareness campaign on learner pregnancy.

Introduction: Diploma thesis deals with issues of gestational a pregestational diabetes and the influence od diabetic diet during pregnancy on eating habits. Goals: The theoretical part is focused on general summary of diabetes during pregnancy - its characteristic, epidemiology, risk factors, complications, treatment including glycemic self- monitoring, observation during and after the childbirth. The last part is focused on education, as the important part of the therapy. The emphasis is put on the practical part, which analyse eating habits including measures regime of women dealing with gestational a pregestational diabetes, before and after the pregnancy. Crucial task was the comparison of choice of the food, frequency of monitored food and the regularity of eating. Methods: Research took place through the anomyous questionnaires, obtained on Gynecological-obstetrical clinic of General hospital in Prague. Questionnaires were filled out by woman diagnosed gestational and pregestational diabetes type 1. The discovered data are given into graphs and charts and part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the data. The diploma thesis focuses on the possibilities of a psychologist in the process of psychoprophylactic care of the mother, or both expectant parents. The theoretical part is trying to define the term psychoprophylactic antenatal care and map the situation in terms of the important personalities in the field of antenatal psychoprophylactic care and in terms of its historical context. Furthermore, it attempts to define the tasks of antenatal psychoprophylactic care, introduce the structure of courses, and map the current situation in this field in the Czech Republic. The research project conducted examines the importance of the psychologist's role during the pregnancy of an expectant mother and in the field of the antenatal care for the foetus in a qualitative manner. It investigates both the needs and attitudes of pregnant women, especially in the third trimester, and experienced psychologists, concerned in the area by the selected method of the semi-structured interview.
