Design of a backpack container with cooking and eating tools.

Jiménez Sánchez, Carlos, Gallego Sánchez, Irene January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this project was to develop a product in cooperation with Primus Company in Stockholm. It consisted of designing a container with the items needed when cooking and eating outdoors, in order to help the users eat and cook in a proper way while practicing activities such as camping or hiking.   Considering the specifications posed by Primus, research was done. One of the main issues to start this research was to carry out a market analysis in order to know all the products similar to the one that was going to be developed. Then, an analysis of the company and the main competitors of it was done in order to develop a product with Primus style and to get ideas for the product. In addition, a questionnaire study directed to potential users was carried out. In this way, it was possible to get to know things such as which items people usually carry in their backpack for cooking and eating outdoors and which ones they considered essential. This helped with making a choice of what the product should contain.   Once all the information collected from the research and from the study of the specifications was prioritized, the concept development phase started. For reaching an outcome, many aspects such as the items that the container should include, the shape of the container and the best material for the product were discussed.   Primus TetraCube is a product that suits all the requirements established at the beginning. In this way, Primus TetraCube is a product that can be carried in an 80 litres backpack and where the user can store all the necessary items for four people who want to eat and cook outdoors. It has also been designed taking into consideration all the details, resulting in a product that follows the aesthetics of Primus with soft shapes and colours such as red, black and grey. Everything combined make Primus TetraCube a comfortable product which helps the user feel at home in terms of convenience and comfort.

Auto/body/graphy and the black dancing body

Escobar, Ninoska M'bewe 13 July 2011 (has links)
This thesis considers how the Black dancing body constitutes both Black history and dance history by reading the body in Pearl Primus' Hard time blues, The Negro speaks of rivers and Strange fruit as physical auto/biography, or what I shall herein refer to as auto/body/graphy. The Black dancing body, because it is a repository of the Black experience, actively engages in the act of self-naming, self-shaping, and self-recognition. As such, it may be considered an auto/body/graphy that is situated in Black history, an instrument through which histories of origin and migration, struggle against oppression and colonialization, and the forging of identities and self-definition are inscribed and communicated. This thesis examines Primus' early choreographies as a discourse through which to consider the impact of Black cultural consciousness and the emergence of a Black aesthetic and Black corpo-reality in dance and theatre on the development of American modern dance before mid-century, and upon later choreographers who followed Primus. / text

Participaram do estudo trinta pacientes adultas com estado físico ASA I e II submetidas a cirurgias ginecológicas eletivas. The anesthesia Primus’s work station (Dräger, Lübeck, Germany) has a built-in hot plate coupled to heat expired gases to prevent water condensation in the breathing system, but this heating plate also may help maintaining gas temperature in the respiratory system at adequate levels. In the present study, we measured the inspired gas temperature and humidity of the anesthetic circuit in the Dräger Primus machine using low fresh gas flow with or without a heat and moisture exchanger (HME). Thirty adult ASA I and II women patients scheduled to gynaecologic surgeries were randomly assigned into two groups to received low fresh gas flow of 1 L.min-1 with or without HME in the circle anesthesia system. All patients received active skin-surface warming with a specific blanket from a warming device. Relative humidity, absolute humidity, and temperature of inspired gases and esophageal temperature were measured at 15 min and then every 30 min up to 120 min after the installation of the respiratory system. There was a significantly higher relative humidity, absolute humidity and temperatures of the inspired gases in the HME group compared to without HME group (p < 0.05). The esophageal temperature did not decrease in Introdução e Literatura 8 the group HME (p > 0.05), but decreased significantly intraoperatively in without HME group (p < 0.05). Low-flow with the breathing system of the Dräger Primus anesthesia workstation have inherent humidifying properties sufficient to reduce the risk of respiratory tract dehydration only after 90 minutes of anaesthesia. The addition of HME improves the inspiratory absolute humidity, relative humidity and temperature of the anesthetic... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

Augustus, Justinian, and the Artistic Transformation of the Roman Emperor.

Rupley, Zachary Scott 09 May 2009 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this thesis project is to discuss and describe the transformation of the image of Roman Emperor through artistic representation and cultural demonstration. The ultimate goal is to determine why the presentation of the office changed so greatly. I have selected certain works of art depicting the first Roman Emperor, Gaius Octavian Caesar, best known as Augustus, and Justinianus, the greatest Roman Emperor. More than 500 years separates these two men, whose only connection, at first sight, is that both served as Roman Emperor. I will analyze each piece of art, discuss its history, determine what each piece represents and discuss the cosmetics of the Emperor in the work. Once both Emperors have been dissected artistically, I intend to answer the question of why the office of Roman Emperor changed so thoroughly over 500 years by observing cultural and world developments between the first and sixth centuries of the Common Era.
