A Trusted Environment for MPI Programs

Florez-Larrahondo, German 13 December 2002 (has links)
Several algorithms have been proposed to implement intrusion detection systems (IDS) based on the idea that anomalies in the behavior of a system might be produced by a set of actions of an intruder or by a system fault. Almost no previous research has been conducted in the area of anomaly detection for high performance clusters. The research reported in this thesis demonstrates that the analysis of sequences of function calls issued by one or more processes can be used to verify the correct execution of parallel programs written in C/C++ with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) in a cluster of Linux workstations. The functions calls were collected via library interposition. Two anomaly detection algorithms previously reported to be effective methods for anomaly detection in sequences of system calls, Hidden Markov Model and sequence matching, were implemented and tested. In general, the simpler sequence matching algorithm out-performed the Hidden Markov Model.

Balcão, Ivan Fillietaz 25 February 2019 (has links)
The Brazilian silviculture has more than 100 years of development, the Eucalyptus genetic improvement of has more than 60 years in Brazil. All this knowledge is what makes Brazil one of the most competitive countries in forest production. However, this competitiveness fell, mainly linked to the high cost of production, that in 2017 was higher than inflation. Innovations in the Eucalyptus productive process are necessary to maintain competitiveness. Most plantations today are clonal, ensuring a genetically equal growth potential, but this does not guarantee uniformity of development, since forestry plays an important role in making resources available for uniform plant development. The uniformity index demonstrates the similarity of individuals\' development in planting. This index, in clonal plantations, is mainly affected by the operational quality of forestry. The uniformity of planting has already been demonstrated as an indicator of the forestry quality, and commercial evaluations can be made through it. However, a method is not established that from a concept of when the variation of the uniformity index is a sign of behavioral changes in the forestry quality. The present work had as objective to apply and to validate a method of evaluation of the operational quality of forestry that helps and facilitates in strategic decisions. For that, the index of uniformity and the occurrence of changes verified through the process behavior chart were used as indicators. Two regions and four reform methods were evaluated. It is concluded that the evaluation method is valid and is able to capture the effects of the changes related to the 6 M\'s Cause and Effect Diagram and that even the company having made changes that generated an improvement in the uniformity index, it is still necessary to seek further adjustments for the the voice of the customer.

Thomä, Marco 10 May 2021 (has links)
The ultrasound enhanced friction stir welding (USE-FSW) as an innovative hybrid solid state joining process is characterized by a number of advantages that enable the realization of higher quality joints for the combination of dissimilar, metallic material combinations with strongly differing melting points. The present work addresses the impact of the additional power ultra- sound transmission on the process behavior and the bonding mechanisms as well as resulting mechanical joint properties for the ultrasound enhanced friction stir welding of aluminum/steel joints via experimental investigations. Subsequent to the determination of suitable parameters for the conventional friction stir welding basic considerations of the power ultrasound influence on the oscillation behavior, the thermal behavior and the in-situ process force behavior take place for deriving a best possible set of ultrasound parameters. Moreover, the conventional and the ultrasound enhanced friction stir welding process are investigated comparatively in detail, proving a reduction in thickness for brittle, aluminum-rich intermetallic phases at the USE-FSW joint interface among other things, resulting in an improved tensile strength and ductility.
