Factors Influencing Enrollment in Virginia's Protestant Christian Schools

Shelton, Janice R. 14 November 2001 (has links)
Protestant Christian schools have become a noticeable educational entity. The factors influencing parents to enroll their children in these schools are of interest to the Protestant Christian schools themselves and to the public and nonpublic sectors. A study examining enrollment in Virginia's Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) schools indicates that certain factors that tend to lead parents to initially enroll their children in Protestant Christian schools and then to maintain enrollment in Protestant Christian schools. The study also gives a demographic landscape of the principals and parents who are part of ACSI in Virginia. Parents cite certain factors as being specifically important as they initially enroll. When they re-enroll their children in Protestant Christian schools, those factors may remain constant or change. This study looks at the reasons parents state as the initial factors leading them to place their children in Protestant Christian schools and the factors that lead them to continue to enroll their children in Protestant Christian schools. The study also includes perceptions of principals of Protestant Christian Schools of reasons parents enroll their children in these schools. From their experience and position, principals can offer their perspectives of why families enroll their children in Christian schools and keep their children enrolled in the Protestant Christian schools. Parents and principals were asked to rank what they perceived to be the top five factors leading to enrollment of students in Protestant Christian schools. Ranking the various factors isolated the most prevalent factors determining parents' decisions. Isolating the most-often chosen of the various factors aids the Protestant Christian, other nonpublic, and public schools better to evaluate how each attracts, maintains, and services their respective clientele / Ed. Christian schools and parental values : a case study in the Australian Capital Territory

Gwilliam, John W., n/a January 1986 (has links)
In the western world the Protestant Christian Day School Movement is now a recognised element in education systems. It is a movement which has had phenomenal growth over the past twenty years and it continues to grow. Mostly, the parents of children who attend these schools were educated in a government school. This thesis seeks to find the reasons why parents are choosing Christian Schools and not government ones as they themselves attended. A variety of values are examined ; religious, academic and pastoral, and as the reader will discover, while it is not easy always to make a clear distinction between these values, some trends are so strong that the researcher believes that some valid conclusions may be drawn. A considerable amount of data was collected by the use of two surveys done at the Trinity Christian School at Wanniassa, and one survey conducted among parents of the O'Connor Christian School at Lyneham. The Biblical Values Survey provides an interesting over-view of the perceived achievement of a Christian School while the Choosing a School Survey clearly shows why these parents are dissatisfied with government schools and what they expect their child will gain from a Christian School experience. A computer analysis was done on one block of data which highlights the need for Christian School administrators to be aware of the various priority areas which do exist in the minds of the parents of their students.

In this paper, some existing cases in Fortaleza were presented, and the characteristics of a female pastoral care and the models found in this field were noted. The models in the field are found in the equation of âpermanence and ruptureâ variables as related to the biblical model of women which permeates the religious mindset of the female ministers. A qualitative methodology was used with life narratives for the purpose of analyzing their life trajectories, understanding what the process is like in the rise of women to the pastoral office in different denominational settings.

Framställningen av yoga i kristen press : En innehållsanalys av kristen respons på den nyandliga praktiken yoga i olika svenska kyrkotidningar åren 2011-2021 analyserad genom hot- och resursteorin samt yogafobi. / The Representation of Yoga in the Christian Press : A Content Analysis of Christian Responses to the New Age-Activity Yoga in Various Swedish Church Magazines through 2011-2021, Analyzed Through the Risk and Resource Theory and YogaPhobia.

Džanić, Amina January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to investigate Christian responses to New Age practices, specifically by examining how the New Age practice of yoga, is described in Swedish Christian press. The reasearch questions were the following two: 1) How is Yoga described in the Swedish Protestant Christian Press? 2) How is yoga presented in the Swedish Protestant Christian newspapers Kyrkans Tidning, Dagen, Sändaren and Världen idag based on Lundgren’s risk and resource theory? The method used was content analysis, both in qualitative and quantitative approaches and the material consisted of 379 articles from 4 different Christian newspapers. Risk or resource theory and yogaphobia were applied to the results and the discussion. Regarding the first question, yoga is described as either a resource, a threat or other. In the resource category, the following subcategories emerged: yoga as a resource for physical health, yoga as a resource for mental health, yoga as a resource for activity in operation, yoga as a resource for a path to Christian spirituality, yoga as a resource for a path to an internal quest and yoga as a resource for a modernization of the church. Within the threat category, the following subcategories emerged: yoga as a threat to Christianity, yoga as a threat to church activities, yoga as a threat by dark forces, yoga as a threat to non-denominationalism,yoga as a threat to taxpayers, yoga as a threat to human health, and yoga as a threat to societal progress. The second research question addresses how yoga is presented based on the risk and resource theory. Surprisingly, the majority of the articles were found to belong to the other category, meaning that the article was neutral in its reporting. However, the risk category consisted of almost twice as many articles as the resource category. An interesting discovery in the analysis part was that both the theory of yogaphobia and “yoga as a risk” advocate that the practice of yoga in a Christian context contributes to a contradiction between the fundamental dogmas of Christianity and the opposite ones based in other religions. In contrast, yogaphobia is associated with a fear or phobia of yoga, while yoga as a risk is associated with criticism based on substantiated arguments. / Folkkyrkans nya ansikten - levd religion, nyandliga praktiker och teologisk legitimitet.
