Ferramenta para mapear a qualidade percebida pelo usuário em requisitos de QoS em ambiente convergente e heterogêneo. / User perceived quality into convergent and heterogeneous environment QoS requirements mapping tool.Vieira, Gabriel Mauricio Oswald 02 December 2010 (has links)
One of the main characteristics of communication and information systems is to allow final users to use and make available multimedia content interactive services at any time, anywhere, in motion and using any device regardless of network technology. Under this perspective a challenge arises on how to identify the QoS (Quality of Service) requirements in a convergent and heterogeneous environment end-to-end user centric way, in order to evolve the relationship between users and service providers aiming the establishment of personalized demands through personalized agreements. This work presents a study for the development of an open and generic tool for mapping the user perceived quality in QoS requirements through the capture of the packet flow generated between the applications of a service and simulates delays, jitter, loss of packets and bandwidth in order to allow the end user to identify and express the values of these parameters making transparent all the technological aspects involved in this identification. The definition of a service simulation environment, the development of a QoS simulator and a new relationship between users and services providers are also addressed.

Automatic Quality Of Service (qos) Evaluation For Domain Specific Web Service Discovery FrameworkAskaroglu, Emra 01 June 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Web Service technology is one of the most rapidly developing contemporary technologies.
Nowadays, Web Services are being used by a large number of projects and academic studies
all over the world. As the use of Web service technology is increasing, it becomes harder
to find the most suitable web service which meets the Quality of Service (QoS) as well as
functional requirements of the user. In addition, quality of the web services (QoS) that take
part in the software system becomes very important. In this thesis, we develop a method to
track the QoS primitives of Web Services and an algorithm to automatically calculate QoS
values for Web Services. The proposed method is realized within a domain specific web
service discovery system, namely DSWSD-S, Domain Specific Web Service Discovery with
Semantics. This system searches the Internet and finds web services that are related to a
domain and calculates QoS values through some parameters. When a web service is queried,
our system returns suitable web services with their QoS values. How to calculate, keep track
of and store QoS values constitute the main part of this study.

iNET Standards Validation: End-to-End Performance AssessmentMoodie, Myron L., Araujo, Maria S., Grace, Thomas B., Malatesta, William A., Abbott, Ben A. 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2010 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Sixth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 25-28, 2010 / Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California / The integrated Network-Enhanced Telemetry (iNET) project has developed standards for network-based telemetry systems. While these standards are based largely on the existing body of commercial networking protocols, the Telemetry Network System (TmNS) has more stringent performance requirements in the areas of latency, throughput, operation over constrained links, and quality of service (QoS) than typical networked applications. A variety of initial evaluations were undertaken to exercise the interfaces of the current standards and determine real-world performance. The core end-to-end performance initial evaluations focus collectively on the movement of telemetry data through the TmNS. These initial evaluations addressed two areas: end-to-end data delivery and parametric data extraction. This paper presents the approach taken by these ongoing efforts and provides initial results. The latest results will be presented at ITC 2010.

Adaptive network traffic management for multi user virtual environmentsOliver, Iain Angus January 2011 (has links)
Multi User Virtual Environments (MUVE) are a new class of Internet application with a significant user base. This thesis adds to our understanding of how MUVE network traffic fits into the mix of Internet traffic, and how this relates to the application's needs. MUVEs differ from established Internet traffic types in their requirements from the network. They differ from traditional data traffic in that they have soft real-time constraints, from game traffic in that their bandwidth requirements are higher, and from audio and video streaming traffic in that their data streams can be decomposed into elements that require different qualities of service. This work shows how real-time adaptive measurement based congestion control can be applied to MUVE streams so that they can be made more responsive to changes in network conditions than other real-time traffic and existing MUVE clients. It is shown that a combination of adaptive congestion control and differential Quality of Service (QoS) can increase the range of conditions under which MUVEs both get sufficient bandwidth and are Transport Control Protocol (TCP) fair. The design, implementation and evaluation of an adaptive traffic management system is described. The system has been implemented in a modified client, which allows the MUVE to be made TCP fair without changing the server.

在IEEE 802.11無線區域網路下支援服務品質的負載平衡與無接縫漫遊服務之研究 / Load Balance and Seamless Roaming with QoS support in IEEE 802.11 WLAN連志峰, Lien, Chih-Feng Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis presents and evaluates a mechanism for the load control with QoS supported in IEEE 802.11b Wireless LANs. Our mechanism named Enhanced Load Balance (ELB) dynamically adapts load distribution over APs to achieve load balance. The ELB mechanism balances the load by STAs’ statistical traffic load. This mechanism also performs admission control to avoid congestion. The ELB mechanism maintains QoS by classifying STAs into three classes and control the traffic flow of every STA. The roaming STAs can get enough bandwidth to maintain the QoS in the new AP by the bandwidth reservation mechanism of ELB. ELB can be used on top of the standard 802.11b access mechanism without requiring any modification or additional hardware. The performance of the IEEE 802.11 protocol with or without the ELB mechanism is investigated in the paper via simulation and implementation. The results indicate that our mechanism can balance the load effectively and the bandwidth can be fully utilized. Therefore, QoS can also be maintained.

The Design and Application of a Simplified Guaranteed Service for the InternetOssipov, Evgueni January 2003 (has links)

Much effort today in the Internet research community isaimed at providing network services for applications that werenot under consideration when the Internet was originallydesigned. Nowadays the network has to support real-timecommunication services that allow clients to transportinformation with expectations on network performance in termsof loss rate, maximum end-to-end delay, and maximum delayjitter. Today there exist two quality of service (QoS)architecture for the Internet: The integrated services, whichis usually referred to as intserv, and the differentiatedservices referred to as diffserv. Although the intserv clearlydefines the quality levels for each of its three serviceclasses, the limited scalability of this QoS architecture is acontinuous topic for discussion among the researchers. Theanalysis of the tradeoffs of the two QoS architecturesmotivated us to design a new QoS architecture which will takethe strength of the existing approaches and will combine themin a simpler, efficient and more scalable manner.

In this LicentiateThesis we introduce a guaranteed servicefor the Internet, which definition is similar to the one inintserv: The guaranteed service (GS) is a network servicerecommended for applications with firm requirements on qualityof end-to-end communication. The service should provide zeropacket loss in routers and tightly bound the end-to-end delay. The capacity for a GS connection should be explicitly reservedin every router along a path of a connection. However, incontrary to intserv the necessary quality level will beprovided without per-flow scheduling in the core routers, whichis the major drawback of the intserv architecture. We use thediffserv principle of dealing with aggregates in the corenetwork since this approach is proven to be scalable andefficient.

The thesis considers two major building blocks of the newarchitecture: The packet scheduling and the signaling protocol. We have developed a special scheduling algorithm. Our formaland experimental analysis of its delay properties shows thatthe maximum end-to-end delay is acceptable for real-timecommunication. Moreover, our scheme provides a fair service tothe traffic of other service classes. In order to achieve thedesired QoS level, a sufficient amount of capacity should bereserved for the GS connections in all intermediate routersend-to-end. We have developed a both simple and robustsignaling protocol. The realization of our protocol shows thatrouters are able to process up to 700,000 signaling messagesper second without overloading the processor.

Exposing and Aggregating Non-functional Properties in SOA from the Perspective of the Service ConsumerBecha, Hanane 18 October 2012 (has links)
Non-functional properties (NFPs) represent an important facet of service descriptions, especially when a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach is used. An effective SOA service development approach requires the identification, specification, implemen-tation, aggregation, management and monitoring of service-related NFPs. However, at this point in time, NFPs are either not handled at all or handled partially in proprietary ways. The goal of this thesis is to encourage their availability for use. In this thesis, the focus is on the NFPs relevant from the perspective of service consumers, in opposition to the perspective of service providers (or developers) and to multi-perspectives. In other words, the scope covers only the NFPs that need to be pub-lished to help service consumers determine whether a given service is an appropriate one for their needs (e.g., description of NFPs to be attached to the service along with the functionality description). This thesis provides the following contributions to the SOA knowledge base: definition of a domain-independent catalogue comprising 17 NFPs relevant to the descriptions of atomic services from the perspective of service consumers. These NFPs have been derived from a literature review and have been vali-dated via a two-step survey; formalization of NFP representation by defining data structures to enable quantifying and codifying them, together with a corresponding XML schema; definition, implementation and validation of algorithms to aggregate the NFPs of the composite service based on the NFPs of its underlying services, with a discussion of the NFP aggregation limitations; definition of a modeling approach for the NFP-aware selection of services, which involves aspect-oriented modeling with the User Requirements Nota-tion, in the context of SOA; integration of NFP descriptions into the Web Services Description Language (WSDL); and definition and use of the discriminator operator in service composition, to en-able the creation of fault-tolerant composite services. Overall, this work contributes to research by providing better insight on the nature, rele-vance, and composability of NFPs in a service engineering context. As for industrial im-pact, this work contributes a validated collection of NFPs with a concrete syntax and composition algorithms ready to be used for defining, selecting, and composing NFP-driven services and for evolving current SOA-related standards.
