Změna postoje NFL k rasovým otázkám od protestu Colina Kaepernicka v roce 2016 / The shift in NFL's stance towards racial issues since Colin Kaepernick's protest in 2016Hromádka, Michal January 2021 (has links)
This paper aims to analyze NFL's stance and approach towards racial issues since Colin Kaepernick's protest in 2016. Colin Kaepernick is an African American athlete who started to protest against racial and social injustice by kneeling before NFL games when the national anthem was played. His protests caused many controversies because many people saw his actions as disrespectful towards the military, flag, national anthem and towards the USA. NFL's stance is analyzed through a qualitative content analysis of all NFL statements, which were issued since the beginning of Kaepernick's protest until the end of 2020. The statements are analyzed by use of the critical race theory, which focuses on the topic of race, white supremacy and institutionalized and hidden racism. The results of the analysis are that NFL's stance towards racial issues changed substantially. In 2016 and 2017, the primary concern of the NFL was the form of Kaepernick's protest as it was understood as a disrespectful and un-American act. In these years, NFL was trying to have a discussion with players about the causes of the protests, however, its primary concern was the form of Kaepernick's protest. In 2018, NFL briefly introduced a set of rules, which prohibited players from taking a knee during the national anthem while being on...

Eugenika ve Spojených státech a její vliv na nacistické Německo / American Eugenics and Its Impact on the Nazi GermanyVoborníková, Pavla January 2013 (has links)
The thesis "American Eugenics and Its Impact on Nazi Germany" is a study about influence of the American eugenics movement on the racial policies of Nazi Germany. The origin of the eugenics movement is in the early 20th century. At that time, the movement also began to cooperate at the international level. After World War II, the German eugenicists were excluded from international co-operation for a while. During this period, German eugenicists began to cooperate with the American movement. German eugenicists and Adolf Hitler with other future leaders of Nazi Germany adored American immigration laws that limited immigration of "defective" ethnic groups to the United States. American eugenics movement became also a model for its research and eugenics sterilization laws in the majority of American states. This study describes the extent of this cooperation. American eugenics movement was also related to euthenics and birth control movement. The study also focused on this connection and explains why the birth control movement was not connected with the eugenics movement in the Weimar Republic, then Nazi Germany, although, the movement cooperated with eugenicists at the international level. The study covers the time from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the Second World War.

In the theoretical part of the thesis, the general characteristics of the hooligans subculture, its origins, and development will be described. Furthermore, the functioning of the extreme fan groups in the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic, i.e. Germany and Poland will be outlined. Moreover, the political stances of these countries on the issues related to the migrant crisis are depicted. These stances have a large impact on shaping of public opinions, including the aforementioned groups. The analytical part of this thesis consists of six interviews. These interviews should help with understanding the views on the migration of the members of the radical fan groups in the selected countries and moreover closely depict the hooligans scene across specific regions. The goal of this thesis is hence to depict the origins, development, and the members of a hooligans subculture on one side.
