A Method of Filming a Music and Fine Arts Program

Antahades, Mary Ella 06 1900 (has links)
In reviewing the events of the advances of science and technology of the past two decades one is struck by the magnificence of man's accomplishments. The first moon walk televised live in 1969, the widespread utilization of color television receivers, the educational uses of sophisticated audio-visual equipment such as overhead projectors, slide projection, sound tape recorders, close-circuit television and videotape and the almost omniscient usage of television, is ample evidence to demonstrate that the tools necessary to accomplish a task are readily accessible items in this age. We are introduced to new gadgets, innovations, and events (like the moon walk) at such a rapid pace that we have become more flexible and more receptive to change; so much so that at times many of us are even blase about nearly miraculous accomplishments.

Kompiuterizuoto natų rašymo technologijų analizė / Analysis of Computerized Music Notation Technologies

Milvydaitė, Aistė 02 September 2010 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Many various science areas are gradually relocating to information technology space and the recording of notes is not an exception. Hence, there are many different note recording and preserving formats and special software intended for the creation of such formats. However, because of comparatively rapid IT advancement it is usually hard to follow the all existing IT solutions and select the most proper, therefore, the objective of this work is to examine the technologies intended for the recording and preserving notes on the computer. During the time of this work the following examinations were completed: • The examination of note preserving formats; • The analysis of note recording software functionality; • The research of note recording software appeal; After completing the review of note preserving formats it was clear that they can be categorized into three groups: ascii, xml and binary. The note preserving formats which are based on ascii and xml codes are more coherent for the common user and take less hard disk space. After analyzing the note recording software the final results reveal that the Harmony Asisstant program is highly advanced and supports most functions. The Sibelius 6 is also very advanced and functional. After completing the note recording software appeal survey it was discovered that the respondents consider Sibelius 6 as the most appealing and coherent program.

Synthèse pour une Logique Temps-Réel Faible

Nguena Timo, Omer Landry 07 December 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Atlanta's Digital Music Industry: Implications for Workforce and Economic Development

Stephens, Alexa Renee-Marie 12 July 2007 (has links)
Research on workforce development has focused on general employment trends and traditional industry. Few researchers have studied the potential workforce development implications of emerging industries particularly in those that have sprung from the digital economy. This thesis focuses upon the digital music industry in the Atlanta region. An economic impact study was conducted to illustrate and define the digital music industry and understand its implications for workforce and economic development. This research is significant because it will enable Atlanta workforce developers to assist in reducing unemployment and educational attainment gaps particularly in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Implications for the state includes creating a workforce development strategy based upon digital music innovation that increases Atlanta s overall competitiveness and quality of life by increasing the high-technology and Information-technology workforces.

Dynamic pattern recognition and data storage using localized holographic recording

Karbaschi, Arash 05 May 2008 (has links)
A new technique for optical pattern recognition with two-center recording of persistent holograms in doubly doped LiNbO₃3:Fe:Mn crystal is presented, by which the holograms are localized in separate slices along the recording medium. The localized recording method has the distinctive advantage of selective recording and erasure of the individual holograms without affecting the entire holographic recording medium. This capability enables dynamic content modification of the optical pattern recognition systems. Also, the diffraction efficiency of localized holograms is much larger than that of the normal volume multiplexed holograms. It is theoretically shown that the localized holographic correlator (LHC) outperforms the conventional volume holographic correlators in terms of crosstalk, shift invariance, and capacity. The LHC is experimentally demonstrated. Several persistent holograms are localized within separate slices as close as 33 μm apart along the crystal. The excessive diffraction efficiency of the localized holograms is employed to enhance the LHC robustness through multiplexing several holograms per pattern within individual slices of the recording medium. A holographic data storage system based on two-center holographic recording in a doubly doped LiNbO3:Fe:Mn crystal is developed with angular multiplexing capability. The associated imaging system has been optimized for the pixel matching of pixelated bit patterns generated by a spatial light modulator (SLM) through the recording medium onto a camera. The initial multiplexed holograms show promising contrast of dark and bright pixels. With the optimized imaging system of the developed holographic memory, the implementation of a dynamic read/write data storage system with localized recording is envisioned. The large diffraction efficiency of the localized holograms enables multilevel (M-ary) data coding to improve the storage density of the system.

Effektiewe klankopnames vir enkelkamera-televisieverslaggewing

Human, J. F. 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MPhil) -- University of Stellenbosch, 2000. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The most neglected element in television reporting is the sound track. The problem is illustrated by the fact that there are currently no specialised textbooks, or training courses, on sound recording for television reporting, anywhere in the world. Textbooks that deal with television reporting dedicate very little space to sound recordings. With the growing competition in television news, news teams are increasingly becoming smaller. It is common practice these days to have a news team consisting of only a cameraperson and a reporter. The cameraperson is also responsible for the sound. Two television stations, namely NYl in New York and Channel One Television in England, have already dispensed with the cameraperson and send out only a reporter. This dissertation addresses the above-mentioned problem by doing research on the sound equipment, recording techniques and production techniques that are useful for effective sound recordings during single camera television reporting. Chapter two explains the functions of the different departments in a television station, as well as the duties of the staff. Chapter three explains basic television principles, terminology and equipment that the sound person uses daily and needs to understand to perform his work optimally. Chapterfour gives the basic terms that are needed to follow a conversation on sound recording. Terms like decibel, stereo and digital sound are explained. The chapter also covers basic electricity and sound equipment. Chapter five covers microphones under three headings, namely: electrical characteristics, acoustic characteristics and microphone design. The chapter also covers associated equipment, explains the sound facilities on video cameras and gives a list of possible sound equipment that can be used during a production. Chapter six covers sound recordings, principles and techniques under the following headings: • Perspective and boom swinging, which deals with sound perspective and boom swinging. • Rigging of cables, which gives practical tips for laying cables inside and outside buildings. • Recording principles, which gives practical tips on sound recordings. • Interviews, which includes recording tips for television interviews and reporting. • Reporting, which covers reporting, media conferences and public events. • Commentary recordings, which deals with the preparation and recording of voice over. • Music recordings, which deals with instruments and bands, and suggests microphone positions. • Telephone lines, which covers the use of telephone lines for reporting. • Location reconnaissance, which gives practical tips on pre-production planning. • Guidelines for sound persons during productions, which concludes the chapter and the dissertation with practical tips on behaviour during local, foreign and/or dangerous productions.
