Personal qualifications of industrial recreation directors and the adequacy of the North Texas State University recreation curriculum in developing these qualifications.

The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the existing Recreation Program of Denton, Texas provides for the leisure time needs of the citizens of Denton. After the existing program was surveyed, the results were compared with the standards set up by the National Recreation Association for a city the size of Denton. From a comparison of the present program and the standards, an effort was made to formulate a program that would meet the leisure time needs of the citizenship of Denton.

The problem of this investigation was the construction and evaluation of a score card for evaluating the field work experience in recreation. The instrument was constructed after studying nationally adopted accreditation standards, criteria, guidelines and evaluations of professional preparation programs. This investigation concludes that of twenty-five items which made up the original instrument, twenty-four remained after two evaluations by a panel of experts. A method was developed to score the instrument according to maximum score and percentage compliance score for each section of the instrument. It is the recommendation of this investigation that the score card be field tested and become part of a total score card for evaluating the professional preparation program in recreation.

The purpose of this study is to determine what facilities are needed and what changes in the present course of study in physical education of the schools of Wise County must be made in order to carry out an enriched program, functioning for the entire student population. The facilities of the present, the teaching procedure, the administration of physical education, and the latest proposed programs in this field will be considered. It is hoped that a study of this kind will be of value to the curriculum builder in the small or rural schools.

This investigation is concerned with determining the extent of involvement by fifteen Texas municipal parks and recreation departments in providing programs for senior citizens, the mentally retarded, the physically handicapped, and the emotionally disturbed.

"It is the purpose of this study to attack one phase of the leisure-time problem: that phase which deals with the recreation program of secondary schools. As effort will be made to determine whether changes are needed in the recreation program of the secondary schools of Hill County Texas in order that they may meet the demands of the new leisure in the light of young people's activities and interests and accepted standards of the present day."--leaf 1.

The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the public recreation of Denton under the present administrative setup is serving the needs of the citizenship of Denton. Various agencies affording recreation for their own members or sponsoring recreation activities affecting other inhabitants of Denton were surveyed to determine the present status of administration of public recreation in Denton. The results of the survey were compared with standards set up by the National Recreation Association for cities the size of Denton. From a comparison of the present status and the standards, an effort was made to formulate a basis of administration that would be sound and business-like, well co-ordinated, and consistent with good governmental practice.

"The purpose of this study was to evaluate the program of physical education, health, and recreation of the Waco State School from 1933 to 1940...In view of these definite results, the conclusion is made that the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Program of the Waco State Home has been successful in the following respects: 1. It has developed normal, happy children who have a chance to become useful, self-supporting children. 2. The Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Program of the Home has met and exceeded in many respects the educational standards for such activities. 3. The Waco State Home has performed a great educational service in remolding warped, underprivileged children."--leaf 2.

Forty spinal cord injury (SCI) patients were studied in order to determine the effects of an attribution based therapeutic recreation program on their perception of freedom in leisure. Perception of freedom in leisure of SCI patients was measured by a seventy-two item scale. This scale was translated into Spanish, adapted, revised, validated, and tested for reliability. The reliability of the Spanish Version of the scale was very similar to the English Version of the scale.
