Prato Sarmiento, Andrés Iván January 2015 (has links)
The Brazilian citrus industry is characterized by a low diversification of rootstocks. The genetic diversification of these is a crucial strategy for the sustainability of the Brazilian citrus industry. Some citrus rootstocks are at risk of genetic segregation if are propagated sexually, due to the low apomixis. The vegetative production eliminates this risk. The work aimed to study the rooting potential of cuttings of tangerine ‘Sunki’ and its hybrids H49, H77 and H92, evaluating two seasons of collecting (autumn and late spring), concentrations of indolebutyric acid (0, 750, 1.500 and 3.000 mg L-1), presence or absence of leaves and culture conditions of mother plant (field e greenhouse). The mother plant trees from which the plant material was collected are grown in the Agricultural Experimental Station – Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, located in the municipality of Eldorado do Sul, RS – Brazil (30° 06’ S, 51° 39’ W). After of period in greenhouse with intermittent mist system, the results of the experiments indicate the cuttings of ‘Sunki’' mandarin collected from the mother plant cultivated in the field in late spring (17/12/2013) showed higher values for all variables in relation to those plants kept under greenhouse conditions. The IBA was only effective in collected cuttings of plants kept in a greenhouse conditions. Rooting was high (> 90%) regardless of the mother plant cultivation condition. However, in autumn collection (04/14/2013,) the response was low (14%), even at a concentration of 3.000 mg L-1 with the plant growth regulator (23%). Maintaining leaves in cuttings was essential for rooting and sprouting. In the case of hybrids, the fall collection was lower rooting on H77 (10.2%) and higher in H49 (18.3%), but being unnecessary the use of plant growth regulator in late spring. The mother plants had higher total reserves of content on the stem and lower on the leaves in late spring in both genotypes. After 11 months of transplanting the rooted cuttings in plastic bags (4,5 L) high survival (80%) and also growth vegetative of the H49 and H77 hybrid were found. About 50% of these seedlings were able to grafting. The collection of cuttings in late spring is best suited for propagation of tangerine 'Sunki' and its hybrids by cuttings.

Estudos sobre a biologia reprodutiva e o uso de fitorreguladores em pereiras europeias / Studies on reproductive biology and use of growth regulators in european pear trees

Castro, Biane de January 2013 (has links)
Pear production in Brazil has been negligible and this is the reason why this is the most imported fruit in the country. Climatically, pear trees are not adapted to the national conditions and present several problems like low fertilization and fructification due to several physiological processes, mainly decrease in return bloom and flower bud abortion, and pollination problems, often resulting from the lack of coincident blooming between cultivars with compatible gametophytes. The use of growth regulators has been recently tested as an alternative to minimize these problems. The aim of this study was to characterize the productive behavior of six European pear tree cultivars in the ecoclimatic region of Planalto Superior da Serra do Nordeste, Rio Grande do Sul, to describe the reproductive biology of ‘Clapp’s Favourite’ and to evaluate the influence of the use of growth regulators in production of this cultivar. The experiments were carried out in São Francisco de Paula, Brazil, from 2009/2010 to 2011/2012. In the first experiment, buds, inflorescences, floral components, anomalies, production and viability of pollen grains, intensity of flowering, fruit set, phenology and production parameters of ‘Abate Fetel’, ‘Clapp’s Favourite’, ‘Packham’s Triumph’, ‘Rocha’, ‘Santa Maria’ and ‘William’s’ were characterized. Pollination tests, stigmatic receptivity monitoring and identification of insect visitors were carried out in the second test. The third experiment consisted of applying prohexadione-calcium, gibberellin (GA3) and cytokinin combined with gibberellins (6-BA + GA4+7), wich was followed by monitoring of fruit set and production. ‘Abate Fetel’, ‘Clapp’s Favourite’ and ‘Santa Maria’ emitted second spring bloom from the shoots of the year about a month after the first bloom and lasting double the time. It is also the main source of pollen grains in ‘Santa Maria’. Floral abnormalities were observed in all cultivars, being more frequent in secondary bloom. Petal-shaped stamens were the main change. Stigmas were receptive from “3F1” to “3F7” in first bloom and from two to eight days after “3F3” in secondary bloom. Native bees showed to be the predominant floral visitors in first bloom. ‘Abate Fetel’ has no coincident flowering pollinator and it presents production deficit, whereas ‘Clapp’s Favourite’, ‘Packham’s Triumph’, ‘Santa Maria’ and ‘William’s’ have persistent alternate bearing. The use of growth regulators at the early petals fall and one month later did not increase fruit set and yield of ‘Clapp’s Favourite’.

Cuttings were taken from adult plants, healthy nine years old clone cup Lagoa Redonda grafted onto the rootstock of Spondias tuberosa. The experimental design was completely randomized in factorial scheme 3x2, with the following factors: types of cuttings (apical, median and basal) and IBA (0 and 1000 mg. L-1), with five replicates of eight cuttings each, total 240 cuttings. After the treatments, the cuttings were placed for rooting in polyethylene plastic bags containing as substrate a mixture of soil hydromorphic, cattle manure and quartz sand in proportion 1:1:1. Evaluations were performed 165 days after planting, being rated the number of dead cuttings, of dormant cuttings, of buds cuttings active, of cuttings with dormant buds, of cuttings with callus, of cuttings rooted, the number of active buds, of dormant buds, of leaves and leaflets, the leaf dry mass and root, and also, those suitable for planting. It was observed that only for the factor type of cuttings, was significant effect for the following variables: dormant cuttings, cuttings with dormant buds, number of leaves, of leaflets and leaf dry mass and root. The application of IBA or its interaction with different types of cuttings had no effect on the variables. Survival of three types of cuttings can be considered high. In apical cuttings it was found that the effect of apical dominance, influence some variables, as the number of dormant cuttings, of active buds cuttings, the number of active buds, of leaves, and consequently the number of leaflets. Callus formation was observed in three types of cuttings, however, the basal cuttings presented more tendencies to form adventitious roots. The shoots formed in the basal cuttings were quantitatively higher than the median and apical cuttings. Significant correlations were found to number of active buds cuttings, number of active buds, number of leaflets and the leaf dry mass when correlated with root dry mass. Cuttings removed from the basal portion of the branches of Spondias mombin L. presented better conditions for root development.
