A Study of Non-Profit Organizations' Experiences and Opinions on Cause-Related Marketing¡XCases of Child Welfare FoundationsHuang, Hsing-hao 14 July 2006 (has links)
Cause-related marketing is a marketing strategy used by enterprises to enhance brand images and to stimulate sales, via cooperating with non-profit organizations or supporting particular issues.
This study aims to know about the experiences in cause-related marketing, the intentions for adapting the marketing strategy and to explore the views and opinions toward the cause-related marketing from the perspective of non-profit organizations. The study employs the depth interview method of qualitative research and focuses on the non-profit organizations which are engaging in the child welfare and also carrying the affinity cards.
Based on the study results, there is no consistent module throughout the cooperating period, yet the level of involvement of the enterprises will be a key factor influencing the effectiveness of cause-related marketing. The two main intentions drive the non-profit organizations toward the cause-related marketing are increase in income and reputation. Noticeably, the size of the market will limit the growth of the affinity cards and the organization flexibility will also be affected by the cooperating partners simultaneously. Furthermore, the size of the non-profit organizations shows no significant difference on the intentions of carrying the affinity cards.
Upon selecting business partners, non-profit organizations consider reputation and motif as the most important issue, secondly is the resources and structures of the enterprise, and lastly is the adequate obtainment of benefits. When dealing with the funding received, the existence of the contract will be the first priority. If there is no limitation applied, the organization will make the decisions depends on the cause presented. The three non-profit organizations interviewed all regard the cause-related marketing as one of the business marketing strategies. They all agree that it is a win-win or even tri-win structure, and enterprises can make concrete contributions to the society through it.

The Impaction and Stratigy of Hospital after Implementation of Diagnosis Related Group---a Regional Hospital ExperienceLee, Man-gang 06 August 2008 (has links)
National Health Insurance (NHI) is more than 13 years in Taiwan. The NHI paid medical fees to service providers on the basis of "fee-for-service" in the beginning. However, the cases numbers were increased by health providers for erned more money. Besides, it was very difficult to review the cases. The health capital expenditure was increased gradually. The Bureau of National Health Insurance took a serial measures to finance control, such as ¡§case-payment¡¨, ¡§self-management¡¨, ¡§hospital excellence program¡¨ and ¡§global budget reimubursement system¡¨. But the medical needs elevate due to the life quality and life expectancy increased, unbalance of payments is very serious¡COur government began to investigate the excellent ¡§diagnosis related group payment system¡¨ which carried out in America and other OECD countries for many years. The prospective payment system made medical costs more easily control. Though Taiwan diagnosis related groups was finished and was revised to the third edition on the basis of experts consensus during many times of discussion, the exacted time of execution is delayed again and again. Mainly in Taiwan medical league doubted and blocked the new measure. Moreover, people worried about would become medical garbage because health institute refused critical patient owing to DRG fixed payment or few percentage additional charges, especially in medical centers. It might decrease the examination items and compromised the patient rights and quality of medical care. Eeverytimes when NHI implemented new measure to control medical capital expenditure, it resulted in some degree damage to medical institute in fact.
This study analysed the regional hospital income and the difference of implementation DRG by major diagnosis categories and sections in 2006 and 2007 with BCG model. The hospital begame to promote DRG payment system in 2007, compared to 2006, may simulate the difference after implementation of DRG. We also compared the medical performance and medical care quality of 2007 to 2006 to simulate the difference after implementation of DRG.
The thesis reviewed the results of execution DRG in others countries and summarized some experts and scholars advisement abut the impaction of DRG carried out in Taiwan. At last, we interviewed to the department directors about the opinions and suggestions of DRG in-depth and addressed the responsive strategies and balanced scorcard implementation¡C
DRG payment system was proved as an excellent measure by others countries. It could control the medical cost effectively and did not compromise medical care quality. There are several measures, including ¡§global budget reimubursement system¡¨, ¡§case- payment¡¨ and ¡§fee-for-outcome¡¨in Taiwan. Is the result of DRG implementation in Taiwan diffierent to other DRG countaries¡HOur conclusions are implementation DRG may not damage to hospital finance and medical care quality may decrease a little in the first time. For checking on medical care quality critically, it is necessary for hospitals and Bureau of NHI to set up peer review organization

China and Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights: An Inquiry on Regime ComplianceL. Kho, Jr., Antonio 09 September 2008 (has links)
This is a study on the compliance of China to the World Trade Organization¡¦s (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) before and after China¡¦s accession to WTO.
The study on pre-accession period focuses on the enactment of China¡¦s patent, copyright and trademark laws in the light of the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement. It also focuses China¡¦s adoption, revisions and amendments of the constitution, administrative, criminal, civil, judicial, and legal professional laws and procedures to make enforcements of the intellectual property rights law effective. It likewise shows how the enactment of these laws consistent with the TRIPS Agreement is contributing to the development of the institutions of private property and the rule of law. The result shows that while the pre-accession to WTO would indicate China¡¦s substantial compliance to the TRIPS Agreement, it also focuses on some weaknesses in the laws on the determination of what violation would constitute a criminal act. This problem would manifest later after accession.
The post-accession period sharply focuses on the performance of China in the
enforcement of their obligations under the TRIPS regime after 2001. The assessment of China¡¦s performance in enforcement focuses on the infringement cases, the complaints filed against China before the dispute settlement mechanisms of WTO, and the multilateral and bilateral reviews on China¡¦s laws and enforcement effort after its accession to WTO. The result shows the over-reliance of China on the administrative rather than the judicial remedies in its internal enforcement effort which resulted in the weak performance of infringement deterrence. The result also notes the shift from the reliance on internal to external measures in the enforcement of intellectual property rights by the trading partners headed by US.
The result of the study which shows continuing reforms in the intellectual, civil, criminal and administrative laws after WTO accession to precisely address the issues raised against China in its enforcement effort is an indication of China¡¦s willingness to play by the international rules. While the reforms have not been met with optimism, the WTO¡¦s TRIPS regime provides a sufficient mechanism to deal with China¡¦s TRIPS violations, and more importantly China is positively responding to it.

The role of liquid facets-Related in Drosophila developmentLee, Ji-Hoon, active 2011 18 November 2013 (has links)
The goal of my graduate research is to find the role of a Drosophila gene, liquid facets-Related, encoding an ENTH (Epsin N-term homology) domain protein using developing Drosophila eye as a model system. The ENTH domain is a well-conserved globular domain with affinity to phosphoinositides, and found in endocytic Epsins and Golgi Epsins. With the ENTH domain and peptide motifs, such as clathrin binding motifs and other protein binding motifs, endocytic Epsins and Golgi Epsins are localized to the plasma membrane and the Golgi membrane, respectively. The main function of Epsins is to facilitate clathrin-dependent vesicle formation. An interesting finding from endocytic Epsin research using Drosophila is that this seemingly generic factor has in fact a specific role in the Notch signaling pathway by mediating ligand endocytosis which is crucial for receptor activation in the adjacent cell. The role of Golgi Epsin, on the other hand, has not been understood in a multi-cellular context. A former graduate student in our lab, Erin Overstreet, generated loss-of-function mutants of liquid facets-Related and found that this gene is essential for viability and important for cell growth and patterning in Drosophila eye development. Her finding suggests that liquid facets-Related has a specific role in development. She also found that the ENTH domain is dispensable for the function of liquid facets-Related. This is an interesting result because studies using other model organisms show that ENTH domain directly recognizes the cargos, suggestive of essential function it in Golgi Epsin. Therefore, I aimed to figure out what is the function of liquid facets-Related in a multi-cellular context using the Drosophila eye as a model system. To address this, I further characterized the mutant phenotype, screened for dominant modifiers of the hypomorphic eye phenotype, and performed structure/function assays that helped me to generate specific hypotheses and then I tested them.
My graduate research contributed to understanding the role of liquid facets-Related by providing the in vivo function, identifying genetic interactions, and specifying the domain necessary and sufficient for its function. First of all, characterization of the mutant phenotype indicated that liquid facets-Related is crucial for proliferation, suppression of apoptosis, insulin receptor-independent cell growth, and progression of the morphogenetic furrow at the D/V midline in the developing Drosophila eye. Secondly, from a forward genetic screen, I found Delta, neuralized, polychaetoid (ZO-1), string (cdc25), and altered disjunction (Mps1) as dominant enhancers of the hypomorphic eye phenotype, suggestive of the role of liquid facets-Related in the Notch signaling pathway and cell cycle regulation. I also found that wingless and armadillo dominantly enhance the hypomorphic phenotype of liquid facets-Related, which suggests that liquid facets-Related has a role in the Wingless signaling pathway. Indeed, the expression of a transcriptional target of the Wingless signal, dachsous, is reduced in liquid facets-Related null cells. Baso-lateral levels of E-cadherin and Armadillo are increased in the liquid facets-Related null cells, which is consistent with the fact that E-cadherin antagonizes the Wingless signal activity. Finally, an unexpected result from structure/function analysis is that exon 6 of the liquid facet-Related gene is necessary and sufficient to rescue all visible morphological defects of null mutants. This is interesting because exon 6 is conserved in Golgi Epsin gene only in several insects but not in most other species including yeast, nematode, mouse, and human. In fact, exon 6 is a homolog of a recently studied gene known as tel2. Evidence suggests that liquid facets-Related is Drosophila tel2. As the function of Tel2 is not clearly understood, this study may contribute to better understand the essential role of Tel2 in Drosophila and other model systems. / text

Hedersrelaterat våld : En studie om socialarbetares förståelse av hedersrelaterat våldGyllenqvist, Linda, Sundqvist, Josefine January 2014 (has links)
After the honor killings of Fadime and Pela, an extensively discussion started in the media, debating honor-related violence and oppression. This debate also made us, the authours of this paper, to pay attention to the problem. As a professional in social work, there are several good points to be made by having an in-depth knowledge in the field, both to discover individuals exposed to honor-related violence and to be able to protect them. The study was conducted by four qualitative interviews with professionals in social work with a professional experience of honor-related problems. Through the interviews, the social worker's view of honor problems emerged. The overall aim of this paper was to analyze how professional social workers relate to the phenomenon of honor-related violence, and how the problems are made visible. A second aim was to show how social services can protect individuals exposed to honor-related violence based on current legislation. Our results demonstrate that the professionals' knowledge is critical to whether honor contexts are discovered and for its continuing work on these cases.

The effect of nurse-coordinated telecare intervention on depressed mood and diabetes-related stress among community-dwelling older adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Southeastern OntarioJodoin, Angela May 09 August 2007 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of nurse-coordinated telephone monitoring among community-dwelling older adults with type 2 diabetes. In a randomized controlled trial 28 participants (aged 65-84yrs) with type 2 diabetes living in Southeastern Ontario were randomly assigned to an intervention group (15) and control group (13). The intervention group received weekly nurse-coordinated telephone monitoring and the control group received usual care from their family doctor. The main outcome measures were depression and diabetes-related stress as measured by measured by the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and the Problem Areas In Diabetes (PAID) questionnaire at baseline and 12-weeks. All participants completed the study. At 12 weeks, mean scores for the intervention group were significantly lower for the GDS (p = .00) and the PAID (p = .03). Participants were receptive to the intervention. Nurse telephone monitoring may decrease depressive symptoms and diabetes-related stress among community-dwelling older adults. / Thesis (Master, Nursing) -- Queen's University, 2007-08-08 14:30:24.945
