LE FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCES: IL COINVOLGIMENTO DELLE FAMIGLIE NEI PROCESSI DECISIONALI NELLA CHILD PROTECTION. ANALISI DELL'ESPERIENZA BRITANNICAMACI, FRANCESCA 08 July 2010 (has links)
The social work in child protection is often characterized by a disabling and authority based work; as a matter of fact the professionals use to centralize the power in their hands, in the name of their expertise, cutting the family out of the decisions regarding their lives . This is not the right way to work to build the parents and children welfare because, if the aim is to promote a real change in families, it is necessary the involvement of the family itself in the decision making process.
A family group conference (FGC) is a decision making and planning process whereby the wider family group makes plans and decision for children and young people who have been identified either by the family themselves or by service providers as being in need of s plans that will safeguard and promote their welfare
It is possible to define FGC as relational service because it is based on participatory approach in which social service work together with parents, children and others important relations to find the right way to care and protect the child.

LE DONNE: UN PONTE TRA LE CULTURE. IL COMMUNITY SOCIAL WORK E LA RIGENERAZIONE RELAZIONALE NEI QUARTIERI PERIFERICI MULTIETNICI / LE DONNE: UN PONTE TRA LE CULTURE. IL COMMUNITY SOCIAL WORK E LA RIGENERAZIONE RELAZIONALE NEI QUARTIERI PERIFERICI MULTIETNICICIRILLO, FRANCESCA 27 June 2019 (has links)
The research aims to prove the thesis according to which women play a foremost role in the regenerative processes, as well as they can be considered as the “driving force” in the development of social connections. In particular, women of different nationalities, within the multiethnic neighborhoods, they can act as a "bridge" able not only to mediate between the culture of the native country and that of the host country, but also to connect different cultural and social worlds, representing in this way a potential and worthy way to promote social integration. The research is based on the case study of a Community Work project called "the world in a neighborhood" arised in 2012 within the multicultural context of the City of Pioltello. 43 interviews were conducted to people differently involved in the project. The interviews were analyzed on three different levels of reading; first finding the focal themes, following people’s perception of the project and finally the effectiveness of the Social Work methodology. To sum up the data collected from the interviews were analyzed and connected with the themes resulted from the international literature, highlighting the aspects of: compliance, diversity together with the not faced aspects and the innovative ones introduced by a first and experience.

A Bridge Between Home and School : A qualitative study about promoting parental school involvement of immigrant parents, for enhancing children’s academic successAmouri, Hasnaa January 2023 (has links)
The overall purpose of this thesis was to explore the program “Bredsands Brobyggare,” which aims to increase immigrant parents’ involvement and participation in their children’s schooling. This was achieved by studying how the “bridge builders” experience relationship building with the parents and what strategies they use while working with the target group, as well as how these strategies are considered to affect the parents’ involvement in school. In the thesis, four semi-structured interviews were conducted with service providers working in the investigated program. The results were analyzed from a hermeneutic abductive approach through a thematic analysis. Dempsey and Sandler’s theoretical model of motivational sources for parents’ involvement in their children’s schooling is the theoretical framework underlying the analysis. The results showed that the bridge builders used their cultural-understanding ability to build a relationship with the parents and increased other professionals’ awareness and understanding of their difficulties and needs. Furthermore, after establishing a relationship with the parents, the bridge builders used other approaches, such as a strength-based approach and the implementation of individualized support according to the parents’ needs, aiming to create a stable line of communication between school and home, which in turn can potentially develop parents’ involvement in their children’s schooling.
