The diploma thesis deals with the legend of St. George, deals with its processing in the Renaissance Florence and presents monuments with this motif from Italy and Czech territory. The aim of the diploma thesis is the interconnection of the theoretical and practical part. Inspiration became the ceramic reliefs made by Renaissance artists, in particular the della Robbia family. The work will be supplemented by an unconventional technique of processing porcelain paper with the motive of St. George. The theoretical part discusses the life of St. George, deals with the mission of the saint and tells the legendary story of victory over the dragon. Also included are documents that provide a deeper analysis of the legend of St. John the Baptist, as well as the iconography that discusses the St George's legend from the point of view of Christian beliefs. In the practical part, the theoretical part will be used for the processing of composite material from paper and porcelain with motive of St. George the dragonslayer.

The main aim of this work is to describe the ancient ideal in the concept of Miroslav Tyrš, who was inspired by the ancient world and modern philosophical directions. Sokol, who founded it as a physical education unity, was not a goal in itself, but a means of applying this ideal in Bohemia in the 19th century, which helped to shape democratic education in Bohemia, which helped to establish independent Czechoslovakia, when the falcons were numerous legion members. The diploma thesis deals with the forms of self-representation of the last Rosenbergs. They were using the representations to support their political positions. The paper is based on a study of the panegyrics and symbolic decorations of the Rosenbergs' castles that were used to present the virtues of the Renaissance nobleman. The study analyzes Roman motifs of the Rosenbergs' propaganda. It tries to capture the views of particular individuals on selected ancient motifs from representation of the Rosenbergs. Ancient exempla presented the Rosenbergs by using the language of symbolic communication as Christian knights.

It compares selected Neo-Renaissance edifices in Prague and Florence with the models from the Renaissance era. of the Dissertation The Musical Entourage of Rudolf II (1576-1612) reconstructed from the Imperial Accounting Ledgers Michaela Žáčková Rossi (2016, Supervisor: doc. PhDr. Petr Daněk Ph.D.) The proposed dissertation is undertaken as an attempt to make accessible the payments of the imperial court under Rudolf II concerning its musical life. Quite a century ago Albert Smijers published payments to the imperial musicians, but only to them of the chapel, while the other categories were considered unsystematically; but even among the "trometter", "kammermusici" and "servants on two and more horses" we find excellent composers. This dissertation, using the known sources and on the basis of new heuristics in the State Archives of Vienna, brings for the first time a complete list of all musicians of the Rudolf's court, including the period, function and wages development of their stay. Thanks to the extensive lists and graphs, it also present the specialization and career evolution of the Imperial musicians, number and quality of their extraordinary payments, bonuses etc. The conception of a first global view on the Rudolfine musical entourage in Prague will be complemented in a forthcoming monograph by a complete list of (Gnadengeld), it means "grace payments" to the musicians for their music dedications...

This masters degree work named Painted renaissance epitaphs in Bohemia (1560- 1620) elaborates and develops the preceding bachelors work. The opening chapters present reflections and view of the perception of the death in Bohemia before the battle of Bílá hora. Yet these general aspects are focusing on the person or persons directly connected with the named painted epitaphs. Attention is paid for instance to the czech example of the Ars Moriendi, the Book about death, written by Mikuláš Krupěhorský for Petr Kokořovec from Kokořov. In the chapter dedicated to the testaments, the work handles the original last wills of Jarosav Smiřický from Smiřice and Václav Hlava from Kyršfeld, whose epitaphs form part of the catalogue. The painted renaissance epitaphs are firstly generally characterized with use of the presentation of the early works of this kind (epitaphs of the Master I.W. and the wall painting in the convent of the Fourteen Holy Helpers), then the attention is paid to the questionable issues related to the confessional (non)distinctiveness of the painted renaissance epitaphs. The question of definition and specifics of the catholic and non-catholic epitaph monuments is being solved here on the base of the rightful characteristics. The first part of this master thesis is focused on the personality of Lorenzo deʼ Medici and his inclusion in the period and cultural contexts. The literary background of Italy in the 15th century is introduced, as well as the Lorenzo's life, the summary of his literary output and his contribution as a patron of the Florentine culture and arts. The second part analyzes four of the Lorenzoʼs works related to mythological themes going back until the ancient writers. Lorenzoʼs evident influence by these authors is illustrated with the specific quotations but at the same time his own innovations in texts and stories are referred to. The conclusion compares an extend of this influence on him and the contribution of his own invention to the particular works. It points out the uniqueness of the personality of Lorenzo deʼ Medici both in the cultural and literary spheres as well.

- Hyperbole, Imagination and Tradition in Luigi Pulci's Morgante The epic Morgante, compiled at the end of the 15th century by the poet Luigi Pulci, stands at the turn of two historical eras. It is a meeting point of the Middle Ages and Renaissance with their literary influences and ideas. Also, it reflects the change in the development stages of the genre: from the period when the heroic narrative was declaimed by minstrels (joglars) on squares, this subject matter was gradually introduced into royal courts, where it was influenced by a more elevated culture. The main elements of this epic include the adoption of several literary traditions, the comic in many of its forms, and religion, all of which is underlined with the special imagination of the author together with allusions to his own life situation. Luigi Pulci adopted not only the tradition of the heroic matter full of typical medieval patterns (topoi) very popular in Italy at that time, but also the comic-realistic literary tradition of Tuscany, which provides his narrative with a different tone in many ways, and thus incorporates Morgante in a literary field different from the one which its predecessors were part of. The dissertation begins with an introduction about Renaissance, because Thaddaeus Hagecius lived and worked in this age. Renaissance was both an age of faith in hermetic sciences and an age of important scientific discoveries which fundamentally influenced the transformation of cosmology. My intention is to explain the characteristics of this period in the beginning of the dissertation. The next chapter is mainly focused on Hagecius's biography and an overview of his main writings. At first, I dealt with Hagecius's youth and his studies in Bohemia and foreign countries. Afterwards, I mentioned the areas that Hagecius had developed and the writings that he had published about them. I have more thoroughly expanded Hagecius's activity in medicine and astronomy because they were the main areas of his research. In another part of the chapter, I have outlined the friendship between Hagecius and Brahe. I have closed the chapter with an explanation of Hagecius's reference to alchemy. In the third chapter of my dissertation, I have introduced Hagecius's scientific efforts in four areas. These are as follow-astronomy, medicine, botany and brewing, because Hagecius contributed to these four areas with an interesting manner. These areas also show the huge diversity of Hagecius's interests.

The presented diploma thesis is dealing with the life of Katerina Hradecká of Montfort, noble foreigner, married to Adam II. of Hradec. The author is using older as well as more recent literature, written, tangible and iconographic sources to analyze, based on historical-anthropological methods, transformation of the inner world of the noblewoman. She is firstly introduced as a maid of honor in the hofstadt of archduchess Maria of Bavaria in Graz. Author also looks into her marriage to Adam II. of Hradec, investigating it within political and religious context of that period, as it was associated with the connections of the lords of Hradec to the House of Habsburg. Author also pays attention to the noblewoman as a wife, a mother, a Jesuit confidant, a widow and a strict catholic, that had a substantial influence on the social life of Hradec and its surroundings due to her religious views. Author does not omit the tangible cultural aspects connected with the activities of Katerina Hradecka of Montfort and her impact on the ecclesiastical and secular architecture in Jindřichův Hradec.
