One of the characteristics which marks that process, the arrival of the first casts, brought by Martin Afonso in 1532, to nowadays, is that that activity acts effectively in our production and spatial organization, is it in the international economic insertion or is it in its internal organization. From the beginning of the sugar production in the Northeast Zona da Mata, in the colonial period, until the ethanol production in the lands of São Paulo, nucleate by PROALCOOL, from the middle of the seventies, until de present period, in which the energy production was incorporated to its activities, that sector, in spite of many technical and economical changes, maintains itself imbricated in the public policies from the Brazilian state. The central goal of this work is to understand, in an analytic form, the organization, the changes and the recent expansion of the sector to the Cerrado areas, specially for the sate of Goiás, having as an example, the municipality of Jataí. The theoretical and the methodological perspectives used go in the direction to understand, in a larger movement the sector in itself and the changes occurred along the history, next it tries to establish the relations of the recent expansion to the Cerrado areas, and inside of this expansion, the process of territoriality in Jataí GO. In the municipality of Jataí, strategies of sugar cane energy territoriality were analyzed, as well as the resistances of certain productive sectors to the expansion of this activity. Still inside these actions, we tried to define the roll of the municipal public power in face to the possibility of the areas occupation by the cultivation of sugar cane, the possibility to dislocate other activities already installed in the municipality. Inside this fixation process of the sector in the municipality, the generation of new jobs and income is presented, by the sector, as a gained for the society in general. So, we tried to analyze that capacity of the sector, considering the profile of the workers required by the sugar cane activities. At last, even considering that this process is still not consolidated in the municipality, we tried to demonstrate some social and spatial consequences of the territoriality movement of the sugar cane energy sector in Jataí. / O cultivo e a industrialização da cana-de-açúcar podem ser consideradas as mais antigas atividade econômica, desse gênero, no Brasil. Uma das características que marca esse processo, da chegada das primeiras mudas, trazidas por Martins Afonso em 1532, aos dias atuais, é que essa atividade atua efetivamente na nossa produção e organização espacial, seja na inserção do país na economia internacional, seja na sua organização interna. Do alvorecer da produção do açúcar na Zona da Mata Nordestina, no período colonial, à produção de etanol nas terras paulistas, nucleado pelo PROÁLCOOL, a partir de meados da década de 1970, ao período atual, em que incorporou a produção de energia elétrica às suas atividades, esse setor, apesar das muitas mudanças (técnicas e econômicas), mantém-se imbricado nas políticas públicas do Estado brasileiro. O objetivo central desse trabalho é compreender, de forma analítica, a organização, as mudanças e a recente expansão do setor para as áreas do Cerrado, especialmente para o estado de Goiás, tendo como exemplo, o município de Jataí. A perspectiva teórico-metodológica utilizada vai ao sentido de compreender, em um movimento mais amplo, o setor em si e as mudanças ocorridas ao longo da sua história, em seguida procura estabelecer os nexos da sua recente expansão para ás áreas do Cerrado e, dentro dessa expansão, o processo de territorialização em Jataí (GO). No município de Jataí, analisou-se as estratégias de territorialização do setor sucroenergético, bem como, as resistências de setores produtivos à expansão dessa atividade. Ainda dentro dessas as ações, procurou-se definir o papel do poder público municipal frente à possibilidade da ocupação de áreas pelo cultivo da cana-de-açúcar, podendo deslocar outras atividades já instaladas no município. Dentro do processo de fixação do setor no município, a geração de novos empregos e renda é apresentada, pelo setor, como um ganho para sociedade local. Assim, procurou-se analisar essa capacidade do setor, levando em conta o perfil do trabalhador requerido para as atividades canavieiras. Por fim, mesmo considerando que esse processo ainda não está consolidado no município, buscou-se demonstrar algumas consequências socioespaciais do movimento de territorialização do setor sucroenergético no município de Jataí.
