A STUDY ON THE INTER-RELATIONSHIP AMONG RISK RECOGNITION, MARKETING MANAGEMENT, AND COMPETITION ADVANTAGES OF THE TEACHING STAFF AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN KAOHSIUNG COUNTY

Chen, Chi-ping 04 June 2008 (has links)
This study is to investigate the inter-relationship among risk recognition, marketing management of the school, and the competition advantages of the teaching staff at junior high schools in Kaohsiung County. The study object is the teaching staff at public junior high schools in Kaohsiung County. The number of valid returned questionnaires is 494, with a kickback rate of 95.0%. Since the formal questionnaires were collected, the data have been analyzed and tested by description statistics, t-test, single-factor ANOVA, Pearson movement correlation, typical correlation, and multiple-gradual transgression. According to the results of data analysis, the following conclusions are reached: 1. Teaching staff at junior high schools possesses favorable recognition of risk, among which ¡§risk of employees¡¨ is the best. 2. Marketing management at junior high schools is good, in which the category of ¡§staff strategy¡¨ is the best. 3. Competitive advantages at junior high schools are favorable, especially the category of ¡§quality.¡¨ 4. Male teachers who are at age 51 or above, hold concurrent jobs as section deans, and teach in remote areas have better risk recognition. 5. Male teachers who hold concurrent jobs as section deans, teach in remote areas, and whose schools have less than 12 classes have better marketing management. 6. Male teachers who are at age 51 or above, hold concurrent jobs as section deans, teach in remote areas, and whose schools have less than 12 classes have better competitive advantages. 7. The better the risk recognition of the teaching staff at junior high schools, the better their ability to carry out marketing management. 8. The better the risk recognition of the teaching staff at junior high schools, the better opportunity they have to boost their schools¡¦ competitive advantages. 9. The better the junior high schools¡¦ ability to carry out marketing management, the better opportunity they have to boost their schools¡¦ competitive advantages. 10. Both the channel strategies of schools¡¦ marketing management and personnel strategies toward schools¡¦ competition advantages have conspicuous predictability, and the channel strategies is especially useful in precisely predicting schools¡¦ competitive advantages. Based on the main findings and conclusions, some concrete suggestions are provided for school and educational administrative authorities concerned for future reference.

Study on the Influence of Good-neighborliness on Variables of Resident Types -- ABC Refinery taken as Example

Lin, Wen-hung 17 August 2010 (has links)
Abstract The present measures and methods of beneficiary payments carried out by ABC Refinery is an incomplete good-neighborliness project. Although large amounts of funds were accumulated over a period of several years, due to the lack of long-term, complete and concrete planning, no beneficial effects could be achieved. The study aims to profoundly understand the needs and thoughts of residents from six villages in Hsiaokang District, Kaohsiung, by using questionnaires and conducting interviews in order to analyze their feedback and determine their actual needs in relation to the beneficiary payments made by the ABC Refinery. It also aims to analyze whether the measures carried out by ABC Refinery can meet the residents¡¦ demands as well as their acceptance and implementation effects. According to the results of a systematic investigation, related projects were proposed. The result was that different resident types require various strategies and programs for good- neighborliness. It is hoped that the local residents¡¦ appreciation of ABC Refinery can be raised and more support and understanding received from them. The results of a science laboratory showed that the risk recognition and trust were weak in A village; it means that since the residents of A village did not trust ABC Refinery, their support was therefore at a low level. Consequently, the risk recognition and trust in regard to ABC Refinery needs to be strengthened. The project for increasing the risk recognition includes announcing environmental inspection data on a regular basis or inviting residents to visit the facilities and equipment of ABC Refinery on an irregular basis. This would help the residents of A village to obtain a clearer idea of what ABC Refinery is doing, so that the risk recognition could be elevated. Furthermore, the degree of feedback satisfaction and the environmental attitude towards living quality for residents were quite low, particularly for those whose incomes are below the NTD 70,000-100,000 monthly level. It presents that the lower the income, the higher the demand. ABC Refinery should take more actions in relation to beneficiary payments in order to improve the local living quality.

SURVEILLANCE IN THE INFORMATION AGE: TEXT QUANTIFICATION, ANOMALY DETECTION, AND EMPIRICAL EVALUATION

Lu, Hsin-Min January 2010 (has links)
Deep penetration of personal computers, data communication networks, and the Internet has created a massive platform for data collection, dissemination, storage, and retrieval. Large amounts of textual data are now available at a very low cost. Valuable information, such as consumer preferences, new product developments, trends, and opportunities, can be found in this large collection of textual data. Growing worldwide competition, new technology development, and the Internet contribute to an increasingly turbulent business environment. Conducting surveillance on this growing collection of textual data could help a business avoid surprises, identify threats and opportunities, and gain competitive advantages.Current text mining approaches, nonetheless, provide limited support for conducting surveillance using textual data. In this dissertation, I develop novel text quantification approaches to identify useful information in textual data, effective anomaly detection approaches to monitor time series data aggregated based on the text quantification approaches, and empirical evaluation approaches that verify the effectiveness of text mining approaches using external numerical data sources. In Chapter 2, I present free-text chief complaint classification studies that aim to classify incoming emergency department free-text chief complaints into syndromic categories, a higher level of representation that facilitates syndromic surveillance. Chapter 3 presents a novel detection algorithm based on Markov switching with jumps models. This surveillance model aims at detecting different types of disease outbreaks based on the time series generated from the chief complaint classification system. In Chapters 4 and 5, I studied the surveillance issue under the context of business decision making. Chapter 4 presents a novel text-based risk recognition design framework that can be used to monitor the changing business environment. Chapter 5 presents an empirical evaluation study that looks at the interaction between news sentiment and numerical accounting earnings information. Chapter 6 concludes this dissertation by highlighting major research contributions and the relevance to MIS research.
