Vliv sociálních médií na novinářskou práci / Social media's influence on journalism

This Master's thesis entitled "Social Media's Influence on Journalism" focuses on the effects new communication technologies, especially social media, has on journalist's. These effects are examined in regard to four major aspects of journalism - the individual, journalistic routine, work with information sources and ethical standards. The theoretical frame focuses on current trends in media, specifically social media, and the routines of journalists with a main focus on newsgathering and sorting of news. This has been strongly linked to gatekeeping theory. Qualitative research was conducted using Semi-structured in-depth interviews to answer research questions. Seven journalists, representing various facets of journalism, from a number of Czech daily newspapers were interviewed. The interviews were divided into four main parts to find out which social media platforms are used, how social media has changed routines, how social media is used as a source of information and how ethical standards may have changed. Open and axial coding was used to analyse the data obtained from the interviews. Proměny redakčních rutin v online médiích v důsledku rozšiřujícího se videoobsahu / The transformation of editorial routines in the online media in consequence of the expanding video content

The aim of this thesis is to analyse videocontent on three Czech online media and describe how owing to video production the journalistic routines have changed. Because of growing videocontent on the news websites journalists often have to master skills which were not necessary for their work before so their work routine is being changed. In the newsrooms which produce videocontent there is a higher level of multiskilling - the workers often have to do more tasks altogether. Except for these changes the author focused also on the journalists and how they see the changes of journalistic routines themselves and whether they like them or not. Among the explored online media there were Seznam Zprávy, Deník.cz and Blesk.cz. The method of the research was a content analysis and semi-structured interviews with journalists from the chosen newsrooms. The results show that because of expanding videocontent the journalistic practices indeed have changed, which the journalists are getting used to though, and some of them even appreciate the higher level of multiskilling.

The diploma thesis From an influencer to a journalist - a new form of a deprofessionalization of journalism? aims to acquaint readers with a modern trend, where influencers, people operating primarily on social media, become journalists, who create media performances. In the theoretical part, conceptions such as an influencer, social media or even the concept of a deprofessionalization of journalism are established. In the methodical part, the author chose a qualitative research method, specifically throughout interviews with influencers already participating in the media. In addition to the research method and research set, the reader is also acquainted with research questions, which were formed into interrogative questions. The last part of the thesis is dedicated to the research itself. In the opening chapter, the concepts are ordered and categorized, which was later used by the author to assemble chapters Influencer, Education and practice, Employment relationship, Theoretical preparation, Working in the media and Social media. To each chapter citations from thorough interviews were implemented, which contributed as confirmation from influencers, who works or worked for the media. The thesis titled La República Checa: media image is focused on the quantitative analysis of media representations of the Czech Republic and its actors in Spanish newspapers El País and La Vanguardia in the period of 2011 and 2012. The main goal of this work is to determine how the media image of the Czech Republic is presented in this newspapers and how was constructed. Through the quantitative analysis based on the theoretical background determines the media space provided to the news about the Czech Republic by the Spanish newspapers, the topics in which was the media image of the Czech Republic displayed, and the measure of news values and news sources related to the Czech Republic. The thesis "The army on the media battlefield" examines the extent to which the Ministry of Defence and the Army of the Czech Republic are media institutions. If they take media logic and if they subject to pressure of the journalists. All this in a theoretical frame of four phases of mediatisation that is defined by Jesper Strömbäck's work in 2008. The theoretical part defines terms such as mediatisation or media logic. The thesis also focuses on the explanation of corporate communication, which is related to the Ministry of Defence and the Czech Army. In the conclusion of the theoretical part both institutions are defined and the emphasis is on their communications department. The methodological part describes the research method of semi-structured interviews, which are used to collect relevant data. It also defines the research problem and research questions. The master thesis deals with major news programmes of Czech television and RTVS during the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic. The objective of the paper is to reflect the form of the programmes Události and Správy RTVS during two selected time periods. The goal is also to map how organization and system of the work were changing in both newsrooms during 2020 and how it affected preparation and realization of the programmes. Theoretical part of the work describes the specificities of the news focused on television news and informing about breaking news and emergency situations. This chapter also recapitulates the events in 2020 in the context of the pandemic and demonstrates some of the impacts of that on different types of media. The second chapter characterizes both researched media and their major news programmes in the context of their competitive televisions. The analytical part of the work describes the used methodology and provides with the results of both parts of the research. Sociální hry v rané interakci mezi matkou a kojencem / Social Games in Early Mother-Infant Interaction

The goal of this thesis was to study early social games in natural interaction between mother and child of 4 month age. Infant's affectivity and gaze orientation as a sign of participation was coded. We also observed how can mother and infant influence the social game routine. We examined mother's warm sensitivity and infant's temperament as a variables potentiallz influenced the social game interaction. Fifty five dyads participated in the present study when infants were four months old. Social games were analyzed in natural mother-infant interaction and identified on the given criterions. To assess maternal warm sensivity Materna Affect Attunement was used. Mother's evaluated infant's temperament on fourteen scales of IBQ-R. The results indicate that social games are an inherent part of mother-infant interactions in infant's 4 months of age, and their occurance is influenced by temperament. This master thesis called The influence of digital media on the production of Czech Radio news and opinion journalism focuses on the changes in the producing of news and journalistic content of Czech Radio caused by the origin and development of network digital media. It describes the current form and functioning of the Czech Radio newsrooms and deals with the role that public institution attach to new media. The theoretical part attempts to define new media and describe their effects on traditional mass media. It also places in the context of current public service broadcasting in the Czech Republic and describes the development of technology that preceded the current situation. The aim of the practical part of the master thesis is a qualitative analysis of the impacts of the latest changes in available technology and new habits of consumers of media content. This diploma thesis called ČT sport newsroom without an editor-in-chief. Where are its limits? focuses on the leadership of sports newsroom, which operated without editor-in-chief between the years 2013 and 2019. In January 2020 the sports department was reorganized thus there is the editor-in-chief at the head of the organization since then, who manages the organization in terms of journalism. The researcher paid attention to the analysis of both possible structures. In the theoretical part, the author describes possible organizational structures according to which the organization can be structured. She focuses on media routines and history and the presence of the sports newsroom, but she is mostly targeting the hierarchy of the department. The empirical part is based on 14 in-depth interviews with workers of the newsroom, who describe how the sports department works and point out the positives and negatives of the system. The research took place in two phases. The first one before the restructuring of the department, the second one a few months after. The result is, how the sports newsroom according to its employees worked in this kind of atypical structure.

The thesis provides an insight into corporate agenda-building process in the Czech media. Using the Czech division of Deloitte as an example, the thesis will demonstrate the common practices companies use to get their topics published in media, how they are successful and how they really influence the media agenda. To answer these questions, the thesis uses quantitative content analysis of 248 pieces of news from Mladá Fronta DNES, Hospodářšké noviny, Lidové noviny, Právo, television stations ČT24, Nova and Prima and also radio station Český rozhlas - Radiožurnál. Besides that, the thesis will provide an insight into the way journalists work with sources of information and their autoregulative techniques, as well as into the work of PR professionals, who are significant actors in the agenda-building process. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the corporate sphere as an influential actor in the agenda-building process and to uncover the influences journalists have to face in their work.
