Verb valency plays an important role in the description of behaviour of verbs and connects surface realisation of language with its semantics. Verb itself usually encodes several readings. Complementations of a verb help to identify correct reading of the verb. So far valency verb complementations are mostly studied from morphological and syntactical point of view. The purpose of this thesis is to examine possibilities of automatic identification of semantic preferences for valency complementations of verbs. The thesis discusses performance of system with different levels of available verb valency information in connection with cluster analysis. The thesis contains an evaluation section that compares available methods and their comparision.

Dynamické Softwarové Architektury pro Resilientní Distribuované Systémy / Dynamic Software Architectures for Resilient Distributed Systems

Resilient Distributed Systems (RDS) are large-scale distributed systems that remain de-pendable despite their very dynamic, open-ended, and inherently unpredictable environ-ments. This combination of system and environment properties makes development of soft-ware architectures for RDS using contemporary architecture models and abstractions very challenging. Therefore, the thesis proposes: (1) new architecture abstractions that are tailored for building dynamic software architectures for RDS, (2) design models and processes that endorse these abstractions at design time, and (3) means for efficient implementation, execu-tion, and analysis of architectures based on these abstractions. Specifically, the thesis delivers (1) by introducing the DEECo component model, based on the concept of component ensembles. Contributing to (2), the thesis presents the Invari-ant Refinement Method, governing dependable, formally-grounded design of DEECo-based architectures, and the ARCAS method, focusing on dependable realization of open-ended dynamic component bindings typical for DEECo. Furthermore, it pursues (3) by presenting a formal operational semantics of DEECo and its mapping to Java in terms of an execution environment prototype - jDEECo. Title: French architectural terminology Supervisor: PhDr. Ondřej Pešek, Ph.D. Author: Petra Machová The diploma thesis is based on a list of vocabulary that are contained in French architectural dictionary Dictionnaire d'Architecture published by Editions Jean-Paul Gisserot. The theoretical part deals with a term in general and describes how the terms are taken over from ordinary vocabulary and back. Furthermore, it describes other ways of vocabulary origin. The practical part is focused on analysis of vocabulary from the dictionary. It studies ways of terms origin. The vocabulary is divided into three parts: loan words in French or words that are part of French lexical substrate, morphologically and semantically developped terms. The objective of the practical part is analysis of each specialised term regarding to its origin. By the end, the thesis contains the comparision of Czech and French architectural terms.

This diploma thesis examines the colour terms hopea ('silver' ) and kulta ('gold') in Finnish place names. The aim is to find out about the distribution of the toponyms starting with Hopea- and Kulta- by type of place (e.g. oronyms, hydronyms, etc.) and about the motivation of naming in these place names, and also about possible similarites and differences based on the colour terms used as the specific part in these place names. The first part of this thesis provides the theoretical background of colour terms study in general and the situation of hopea and kulta used as colour terms in Finnish. The situation of Finnish toponomastics is also briefly introduced. In the second part, the Finnish place names starting with Hopea- and Kulta- are analyzed according to the type of place they refer to and according to the type of motivation that can be behind the naming. Sémantická informace ze sítě FrameNet a možnosti jejího využití pro česká data / Semantic information from FrameNet and the possibility of its transfer to Czech data

The thesis focuses on transferring FrameNet annotation from English to Czech and the possibilities of using the resulting data for automatic frame prediction in Czech. The first part, annotation transfer, has been performed in two ways. First, a parallel corpus of English sentences and their human created Czech translations (PCEDT) was used. Second, a much larger parallel corpus was created using ma- chine translation of FrameNet example sentences. This corpus was then used to transfer the annotation as well. The resulting data were partially evaluated and some of the automatically detectable errors were filtered out. Subsequently, the data were used as an input for two machine learning methods, decision trees and support vector machines. Since neither of the machine learning experiments brought impressive results, further manual correction of the data annotation was performed, which helped increase the accuracy of the prediction. However, as the accuracy reported in related papers is notably higher, the thesis also discusses dif- ferent approaches to feature selection and the possibility of further improvement of the prediction results using these methods. 1

Segmentation of web pages is one of the disciplines of information extraction. It allows to divide the page into different semantic blocks. This thesis deals with the segmentation as such and also with the implementation of the segmentation method. In this paper, we describe various examples of methods such as VIPS, DOM PS etc. There is a theoretical description of the chosen method and also the FITLayout Framework, which will be extended by this method. The implementation of the chosen method is also described in detail. The implementation description is focused on describing the different problems we had to solve. We also describe the testing that helped to reveal some weaknesses. The conclusion is a summary of the results and possible ideas for extending this work.

in English A corpus analysis of the semantic interpretation factors of the French gérondif The aim of this work is to analyse factors influencing the interpretation of the implicit meaning of the French gérondif (Ger), and to explain, on the basis of this research, the semantic functioning of this non-finite verbal form (in connection with its equivalents in Czech). Our departing point is that the Ger form functions as an interpretation instruction, which defines the means of the integration of the action of the Ger into the action of the main proposition. This interpretation instruction defines the semantic invariant of the Ger, and thus its basic meaning; other meanings are derived on the basis of complex interactions of syntactic, lexical and pragmatic factors. The method used to examine these factors is based on a computer analysis of wide data acquired from monolingual and parallel corpora (FRANTEXT and InterCorp). The thesis deals with the project of interpretative semantics as it has been developed by the French linguist François Rastier. The aim of the thesis is twofold: Firstly, to introduce and to further elaborate on the principles of this theory. Secondly, to point out possible benefits of Rastier's project for interpretation and analysis of literary texts. The key issue which characterizes the Rastier's semantics and which also represents the main axis of the present thesis can be put forward as follows. On one hand, the interpretative semantics grasps the text as a linguistic object which is open to various formal arrangements and to various articulations of semantic units. On the other hand, each text in its linguistic and non-linguistic context receives a particular shape and particular meaning. This general issue is discussed in detail in four mutually bound chapters where it is also applied on literary texts: (1) The first chapter deals with the notion of isotopy as the main textual principle. From the perspective of this concept a text cannot be grasped as a "big sentence" with an apriori determined syntax. Textuality rather resides in relationships between iterated (isotopic) elements which can be detected in the particular text on different linguistic levels (morphemes, lexies, sentences)....

The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the evolution of product semantics and its options in interactive system's design. This paper focuses on characteristics the emerge of product semantics and areas from which it derives. It also describes current methods of testing usability of interfaces that are optimalized by product semantics. Analyticcal part consists from interface analysis, testing using knowledge from product semantics and evaluation. Conclusion of this thesis is devoted to a concept proposal of design methodology using the knowledge from product semantics.
