Data were analyzed using chi-square test, Mann-Whitney and Fisher, followed by logistic regression. The prevalence of impact on OHRQoL was 70%, estimated by OHIP-14. In univariate analysis, there was a statistically significant difference between individuals with and without impact for the variables toothache in the last 6 months (p <0.001); gingival bleeding (p = 0.04); need and use of upper prosthesis (p = 0.007) and alcohol consumption (p = 0.043). Logistic regression revealed a greater chance of impact for the variable unsatisfactory upper prosthesis in relation to the satisfactory upper prosthesis (OR 7.14 [95% CI 1.60 to 31.95]), Prosthesis Need in upper arch (OR 7.03 [95 % 1.78 to 27.75]) and no need for prosthesis in the upper arch (OR 11.08 [95% CI 2.02 to 60.82]); greater chance of impact for the individual who drank in the past 30 days (OR 5.3 [95% CI 1.35 to 20.80]); and more likely to impact on the individual who had his last visit for more than two years, compared to one who had his consultation between one to two years (OR 2.93 [95% CI 1.01 to 8.50]). Thus, it is recommended that the oral health care should integrate the care of hypertensive patients in order to reduce the prevalence of impact on OHRQoL and improve health outcomes and quality of life.
