Vi samlas i en allvarsmättad tid : En kvalitativ studie om samlingsregeringen ur ett socialdemokratiskt perspektiv / We gather in a fateful time : A qualitative study of the coalition government from a social democratic perspective.

Blidstål, Adam, Kjerf, Johan January 2021 (has links)
This study focuses on the Swedish coalition government during World War II. The purpose of this study is to examine the creation of and the resolution of this government and to see if there were any disagreements in the Social Democratic Party during the creation and resolution of this government. The study also focuses on the attitude towards the Swedish Communist Party. The method that has been used is a content analysis and argumentation analysis to see how eventual disagreements has been expressed in the Social Democratic Party. The study is based on the theory of consensus and conflict which we have applied to the material. The empirical material of this essay is based on protocols from the Swedish Labor Movement’s Archives and Library and examines protocols from different political meetings. The study concludes that in general we can see a tendency of political consensus among most of the representatives from the Social Democratic Party even though there were differences of opinions on the way to democratic decisions.

Var verkligen Sverige neutralt under andra världskriget? : En teorikonusmerande fallstudie av midsommarkrisen / Was Sweden really neutral during the Second World War? : A theory-consuming case study of the midsummercrisis

Ingvarsson, Demi January 2023 (has links)
The debate about Sweden's neutrality during the Second World War has been highly discussed. Sweden declared itself neutral at the beginning of the war, but were they actually neutral during the war? This thesis will try to investigate if Sweden violated its neutrality according to the Hague Convention during the midsummer crisis 1941, and if it is the case, in what way? The survey will also try to understand and explain Sweden´s course of actions during the crisis based on two different theoretical perspectives, realism and liberalism. A theory-consuming case study will be used to try to answer these questions above. Sweden´s actions during the crisis correspond with the realist perspective but can also be partially explained by the perspective of liberalism. Sweden has primarily acted from its self-interest, for example to preserve its peace and freedom when they accepted the demands presented by Nazi Germany in the beginning of the crisis. However, the realist perspective does not explain if it was wrong by Sweden when they violated its neutrality. From the perspective of liberalism, Sweden has primarily tried to preserve its independence, peace, and freedom. The perspective also has an opinion when a country violates their neutrality. In this case, it was wrong by Sweden to act in that way.
