Racionalaus dangoraižio modelio kūrimas statybos technologijos aspektu / The creation of rational skyscraper model in technological aspect

Volvačiovas, Robertas 22 June 2010 (has links)
Baigiamojo magistro darbo tikslas – sukurti racionalų dangoraižio modelį statybos technologijos aspektu. Baigiamojo magistro darbo uždaviniai – apžvelgti dangoraižių evoliucionavimą ir apibrėžti dangoraižių aukštį, išskirti ir išnagrinėti dangoraižių statybos technologijos ypatumus remiantis naujausia su dangoraižiais susijusia užsienio šalių literatūra, kuriant racionalų dangoraižio modelį statybos technologijos aspektu remtis Lietuvoje galiojančia teisine sistema. Baigiamojo magistro darbo metodinė dalis yra parašyta remiantis užsienio šalių patirtimi, o mokslinėje dalyje sukurtas modelis – remiantis Lietuvoje galiojančia teisine sistema, tačiau bendrais bruožais šis modelis yra tinkamas naudoti ir užsienyje. Sukurtame modelyje didžiausias dėmesys skiriamas dangoraižio projektavimo etape iškylančių problemų sprendimui susijusių su dangoraižiais kaip atskira pastatų rūšimi. Sukurtu modeliu galima vadovautis įgyvendinant dangoraižių statybos projektus nuo idėjos gimimo iki dangoraižio nugriovimo. Darbą sudaro 6 dalys: įvadas, dangoraižių evoliucionavimas ir jų aukščio apibrėžimas, dangoraižių statybos technologijos ypatumai, racionalaus dangoraižio modelio kūrimas, išvados ir pasiūlymai, literatūros sąrašas. Darbo apimtis – 73 p. teksto be priedų, 42 paveikslai, 3 lentelės, 63 bibliografiniai šaltiniai. Atskirai pridedami darbo priedai. / This master thesis focuses on creating the most rational skyscraper model in technological aspect. This is done through the completion of several key tasks. Firstly, the study evaluates the development of the skyscrapers, defines their height. Then the work assesses the key technological features of the skyscraper construction. The assessment is based on contemporary foreign literature and meets the legal requirements of the Republic of Lithuania. The academic part of the thesis presents a model which fulfils the legal requirements of the Republic of Lithuania. However, this model is also valid in foreign countries as it is based on the contemporary foreign literature. The core objective of this model is to find solutions for the key issues that arise during the skyscraper design stage. Therefore, this model can play a significant part in all stages of the skyscraper construction from the creation of the initial idea of the skyscraper to its demolition. The thesis consists of 6 parts: introduction, the development of the skyscrapers, the key features of the skyscraper construction, the creation of the rational skyscraper model, conclusions and suggestions, references. The thesis consists of: 73 p. text without appendixes, 42 pictures, 3 tables, 63 bibliographical entries. Appendixes included.

America in the Transatlantic Imagination: The Ballets Russes and John Alden Carpenter's Skyscrapers

Watts, Carolyn January 2015 (has links)
During its twenty-year lifespan, the Ballets Russes (1909 to 1929) was celebrated for bringing together illustrious artistic and cultural figures to collaborate on exotic productions based on Russian, Spanish, English and French themes. Notable by its absence from the Ballets Russes’ exotic interests is the culture and music of America, and this despite that during the 1920s Americans culture was a source of fascination and unease in the European cultural imagination. The Ballets Russes’ impresario, Serge Diaghilev, is recognized as holding the culture of the New World in disdain, yet nonetheless commissioned a “typically American” ballet score from Chicago composer John Alden Carpenter in 1923, which resulted in a score featuring a skyscraper-inspired machine aesthetic, and the inclusion of jazz and spirituals. Carpenter’s ballet was dropped by the Ballets Russes before production and was ultimately premiered as Skyscrapers: A Ballet of Modern American Life by the Metropolitan Opera Company on 19 February 1926. This thesis seeks to better understand Diaghilev’s perceived disdain for American culture, the reasons that caused him to avoid the inclusion of an American ballet in the Ballets Russes’ repertory, and his motives for commissioning a score from Carpenter. Drawing on archival documents from the Library of Congress, I construct a historical narrative of the commission and offer insight into the complex politics of patronage in the Ballets Russes. Furthermore, I position Skyscrapers as a product of cultural transfer, thus illustrating the manner in which Carpenter conceived of his ballet as an American work for an international audience. Finally, I examine the Metropolitan production of Skyscrapers and how it perpetuated racial stereotypes and participated in the debates about the mechanization of American life during the 1920s.

Are Skyscrapers Too Tall? : The Case of Southern Stockholm

Elmgren, Alvar January 2023 (has links)
The number of skyscrapers are increasing rapidly across the world. Interest is growing considerably in places such as Asia and Europe. Because of their height skyscrapers have a strong symbolic value and can help a city attract interest. In Sweden the number of skyscraper projects have also seen a significant increase, though relatively few of them have eventually been built. One of the most spectacular examples were the two Tellus Towers that were planned in southern Stockholm. The highest tower would have been the highest residential building in all of Scandinavia. The project was canceled by the municipality because of its visual impact over areas considered to be of national interest as well as concern over shadows. Instead a new project was suggested consisting of seven smaller high rise buildings. The aim of this thesis is to examine whether groups of smaller high rise buildings have benefits over major skyscrapers regarding visual impact and shadows, by comparing the Tellus Towers to the new project. The program ArcGIS Pro has been used to create 3D models of both projects, whereby analysis tools have been used to analyze their effects on the surrounding built area which was downloaded as 3D models from Stockholm municipality's data portal as well as OpenStreetMap based 3D models from Esri. The results reveal that the new project will cast significantly more shadows than its predecessor would have done, while having a smaller visual impact.

Analysis of skyscrapers’ economic and societal effects or conflicts on urban fabrics : based on the case of 2nd LOTTE WORLD Project, S. Korea

Lee, Dongyun 04 December 2013 (has links)
Generally the skyscraper has been the great architectural contribution of modern capitalistic society and treated as the pride of a city’s urban development with significantly embossed positive aspects over the past few decades. Yet the fact that the ripple effects resulting from these buildings don’t always proceed to only a bright future urban life has also been confirmed through our recent experiences, and is especially more easily observed in high density and congested areas such as Asia Pacific cities. Therefore the evaluation for the justification of skyscraper development projects would be different depending on the specific conditions that a city faces. It is a start point of this paper. In this aspect, this study is based on the case study, the 2nd LOTTE WORLD Project in Seoul, South Korea. Because this project is an unprecedented building type in South Korea and there are no standard of measurements to evaluate its adequacy, establishing a decision model for verifying the real value of this project would be worth for the systematic urban planning in Seoul City. Furthermore, because the author got directly involved with this project as an architectural planning consultant in CB Richard Ellis firm1, the author can be in seeing this project with credible data as well as several unopened documents. Notably, this project will contribute to a boom in local economy, improving the brand image of Seoul. However, as long as conflicts incurred exist those benefits cannot be only absolute grounds to define the real value of this project. Therefore this study analyzes credible factors, which are potentially influenced by the 2nd LOTTE WORLD Project, to make an evaluation tool. The result from the survey research shows that most responders select ‘Tourism industry’ and ‘Unique identity’ as main factors substantially resulting from the completion of this project and all factors belonging to the two ‘Economic effects’ and ‘Social / Political benefits’ highly preferred to those belonging to the ‘Social / Political conflicts’. And this supports the fact that the 2nd LOTTE WORLD TOWER project is worth proceeding with a huge amount of positive effects for local communities as well as Seoul City. However, because there is a limit to this survey research in that the small collected sample size is not enough to generalize the characteristics of this project, a more specific study is necessary to find real value and more specific relationships between skyscrapers and urban fabric in Seoul City in the future. / text

Waiting for intelligent vertical transport systems: a comparison of the International Commerce Centre and AIATower

Cheung, Kar-wai, Joseph., 張家偉. January 2012 (has links)
In a study of total 190 nos. of users of the Vertical Transportation System towards the Management Measures, Perceived Waiting Time and Customer Satisfaction. The users have positive respond towards the management measures, and further to the Perceived Waiting Time. But unlike previous study “waiting time” the result shows the negative relation between the Perceived Waiting Time and Customer Satisfaction in the case of ICC is limited. Instead, it is the Management Measures itself generated a significant result towards the Customer Satisfaction. / published_or_final_version / Housing Management / Master / Master of Housing Management
