Think-tanks-and Their Role in the New EU Member States:Czech and Slovak Experience

Pitoňáková, Lívia January 2007 (has links)

Medzinárodný kontext ochrany práv rómskej menšiny na Slovensku / International Context of The Roma Minority Human Rights Protection in Slovakia

Lackovičová, Simona January 2010 (has links)
"The Roma Problem"is one of the most serious social problems in Slovakia. Prejudices, bad relationships between non-Roma majority and Roma minority, as well as racism, Roma rights violations are the most frequently cited issues, Slovakia is criticized for. The Government of the Slovak Republic is aware of all reasons for the criticism by international organizations or non-governmental organizations, and that is why "The Roma Problem" solution has been its priority for a long time. The Slovak Republic has already accepted lots of international commitments concerning protection of minority rights (including Roma rights) that is why I have decided to find out if Slovakia meets all its commitments. My goal is to analyse if international commitments and recommendations related to human rights affect real protection of minority rights in Slovakia. I would like to evaluate if the criticism by the international organizations is adequate and find some reasons for the criticism. Last but not least I would like to propose several recommendations based on the analyses of non- governmental organizations.

Húsková, Eva January 2021 (has links)
The main purpose of this master's thesis is to offer a deeper understanding of disinformation trends and their causes in Slovakia by utilizing the theoretical and analytical framework of the concept of Truth Decay defined by the RAND Corporation in 2018. At the same time, the work also contributes to the exploration of the phenomenon of Truth Decay in general. The research stems from a premise that disinformation should not be strictly perceived as a tool of hybrid warfare. Hence, there is an increasing need to analyze disinformation as a wider societal problem that leaves its marks on society in different ways. Based on 11 expert interviews with professionals with different backgrounds (academia, think tanks, government institutions, security institutions, journalism, or psychology), this master's thesis consists of two main analytical chapters. The first one analyzes four trends of Truth Decay in a Slovak setting: an increasing disagreement about facts and analytical interpretations of facts and data; a blurring of the line between opinion and fact; an increase in the relative volume, and resulting influence, of opinion and personal experience over fact; and lowered trust in formerly respected sources of factual information.
