The distribution, pathogenicity and population dynamics of Pratylenchus thornei on wheat in South Australia / Julie Margaret Nicol.

Nicol, Julie January 1996 (has links)
Bibliography: leaves 224-236. / xiv, 236, [16] leaves, [18] leaves of plates : ill. (chiefly col.), map ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / The study aimed to determine the distribution of both P. thornei and P. neglectus in South Australia. Also to study the field and laboratory population dynamics of P. thornei in relation to wheat yields, to determine its host range on a variety of cereal and non-leguminous hosts and to identify possible sources of nematode resistant wheat cultivars/varieties. Preliminary experiments studied the involvement of root rotting fungi with the nematode in wheat disease. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Crop Protection, 1997

Introduction of Aphidius rosae into Australia for biological control of the rose aphid (Macrosiphum rosae) / by Jorg Thomas Kitt.

Kitt, Jorg Thomas January 1996 (has links)
Bibliography: leaves 221-240. / viii, 240, [13] leaves : ill. (some col.), maps ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / This thesis deals with the introduction of "Aphidius rosae" as a classical biological control agent into South-Eastern Australia. Appropriate host specificity tests are carried out. Laboratory experiments are also completed to gain a better understanding of the interactions between host and parasitoid in the field. The study aims to monitor the performance of the control agent in the Adelaide environment for the first two years after initial release. It is also planned to invent an experimental field technique to estimate the impact of the control agent on rose aphid populations. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Crop Protection, 1997

Agronomic studies on fababeans (Vicia Faba.L) / Titis Adisarwanto.

Adisarwanto, Titis January 1988 (has links)
Bibliography: leaves 153-169. / xv, 180 leaves : ill. (some col.) ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / This study analyses the effect of date of sowing and density, on yield of faba beans, in the winter-rainfall environment of southern Australia. Field experiments are conducted on twelve accessions of faba beans, that differ greatly in seed size with the main treatment being two sowing dates. The field experiments are carried out on the cultivar Fiord, between 1985-1987. The conclusion highlights the advantages of early sowing and the potential merit of large seeded faba beans. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Agronomy, 1991

The environmental behaviour of herbicides in Australian viticulture / by Guang-guo Ying.

Ying, Guang-guo January 1999 (has links)
Bibliography: leaves 185-200. / xvi, 200 leaves : ill. ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / The herbicides norflurazon, oxadiazon, oxyfluoren, trifluralin and simazine used in South Australian viticulture were assessed for mobility and degradation through a combination of laboratory and field experiments. Sorption, leaching and dissipation rates were measured, as was presence in shallow groundwater. The fate of herbicides from vine to wine was also investigated, tests being conducted on herbicide residue in both white and red grapes and presence in wine. A proposal for good environmental management of herbicide use in vineyards to minimise the effects of herbicides was also developed. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Environmental Science and Management, 2000

Pupil teachers and junior teachers in South Australian schools 1873-1965 : an historical and humanistic sociological analysis / Anthony McGuire.

McGuire, Anthony January 1999 (has links)
Includes bibliography (p. 841-843). / ix, 843 p. : ill. ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / Investigates the educational phenomenon of pupil teachers, used in South Australia from 1874-1965, through accounts in contemporary official documents, the comments of those who managed the system, and observers of the system and its effects. The findings have implications for current debates on the relative balance between theory and practice in the preparation of teachers. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Education, 1999

Late-orogenic, mantle-derived, bimodal magmatism in the southern Adelaide Foldbelt, South Australia / by Simon P. Turner.

Turner, Simon P. January 1991 (has links)
Copies of author's previously published articles inserted. / Bibliography : leaves 179-196. / v, 196, [43] leaves : ill. (some col.), maps ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / Late-orogenic magmas are common to many foldbelts, suggesting a causal link between this thermal pulse and the cessation of deformation. An investigation of such a late-orgenic magnetic suite is made in the southern Adelaide Foldbelt. The suite is biomodal with mafic dykes and plutons accompanied by high-silica granites and rhyolites. It is argued that these mafic and felsic intrusives are both thermally and compositionally related. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Adelaide, Dept. of Geology and Geophysics, 1992

Public policy and physical activity : a South Australian study / Colin James MacDougall.

MacDougall, Colin James January 2000 (has links)
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 310-325). / xvi, 325 leaves : ill. ; 30 cm. / Title page, contents and abstract only. The complete thesis in print form is available from the University Library. / A study which investigates in a South Australian context: 1. What are the physical activity gaps between social groups and how do these gaps relate to health and the other benefits of physical activity? 2. What are the contraints on choices and what needs to be done to make the choices of people to increase moderate physical activity easier? 3. What is the role of the social environment in relation to moderate physical activity choices and what needs to be done to ensure supportive environments? The results show that physical activity frequently becomes the province of differents sectors of society at different times. Recent case studies demonstrate that policies about how governments organise their services lead to more fundamental changes than specific health policies. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--Adelaide University, Dept. of Public Health, 2001
