The learning of decision-makings on futsal passing and intercepting based on the perception of interpersonal coordination.

Pinho, Silvia Teixeira de 09 April 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the learning of the decision-makings on the futsal passing (experiments 1 and 2) and intercepting (experiments 3 and 4) based on perception of spatiotemporal variables of interpersonal coordination. Eleven futsal games were filmed in 4 experiments. They involved 870 successful passes and 152 intercepted passes performed for 139 girls with ages between 12 and 15 years. The experiment 1 had a pre- and a post-test which involved a 10-minute futsal games. The players\' displacement trajectories related the x and y coordinates were edited through TACTO software, from the moment the passer received the ball until the moment the ball was received or intercepted for another player. In the experiments 1 and 2 practice was manipulated in relation to instruction \"pass the ball to the player further away from the marker\" and \"pass the ball to the player who is opening faster\". The follow measures were used in both experiments: interpersonal angles, angular velocities, angular variabilities, time of ball possession, and passing efficiency. In the experiments 3 and 4 were manipulated, respectively, the following instruction: \"run to the ball line\" and \"when the defender to press the passer, run to the ball line\". The measures used in these experiments were: ball line index, intercepting velocity, approaching velocity, and effectiveness of interception. The results allowed inferring that the practice with emphasis on the perception of interpersonal coordination variables did not allow the learning of the passing decision-making. However, the contrary - learning - occurred in relation to the interception. Meantime, the learning only was verified when the practice did not involve the married behavior, that is, when the interceptor did not have to pay attention to his teammate and in the ball line simultaneously. Experiments 1, 2 and 4 refuted the propositions about the generalization of research results to the learning context

Shrimps were captured with a shrimp fishing boat equipped with two double-rig nets at depths up to 20m. In 1998 and 1999, a total of 5658 individuals was collected, being 4437 on first year and 1221 on second year. The highest abundance was obtained at MV (n=2747), followed by UBM (n=1649) and then by UBA (n=1262). Water salinity has varied from 28 to 37, with average of 34.6 ± 1.44, although abundance has not had a significant correlation with this factor (p=0,90). The average bottom temperature was of 24,8 ± 2,84 °C, with a maximum of 31.4 °C and a minimum of 19°C. Besides the great variation on these values, abundance has not had a significant correlation with this factor (p=0.11). The higher shrimp capture was registered in areas where sediment was composed by more than 70% of silt + clay and at areas with highest percentage of organic-matter. There was an inverse correlation between abundance and rainfall, with the highest abundances on months after the rainy season. However, the highest individual catch occurred in the year with highest rainfall rates. Shrimp amount had a seasonal tendency, being higher during autumn and winter in both years. A total of 566 (13,171 g) individuals... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

A decisão da largada do levantador do voleibol na perspectiva de dinâmica ecológica / The volleyball setter\'s decision-making of tipping in the ecological dynamics

Denardi, Renata Alvares 14 December 2015 (has links)
E ainda, interações interpessoais e extrapessoais influenciaram a decisão de largar / This study aimed to investigate the volleyball setter\'s decision-making of tipping based on spatiotemporal variables involving the interaction between players and their game environment. Twenty volleyball games (10 male and 10 female) of the Paulista championship - division I (2013) were recorded, from which 172 actions of the setters were selected. The actions were 86 tips and 86 sets (control group). Players\' displacements were captured using TACTO software, from the beginning of the pass to the contact of the setter to the ball. Thirty-seven spatiotemporal variables were considered in a MANOVA analysis. They were extracted from the follow measures: (i) distance between the setter and the net; (ii) distance between the setter and the ball; (iii) pass distance; (iv) area between opponents; (v) distance between blockers; (vi) distance between the setter and the blockers; (vii) distance between the blockers and the net. When appropriate it was considered the velocity and variability of these measures. Complementary analysis aimed to understand the tips, comparing its effectiveness, its occurrence in different rally transitions, types of tips and tips according to sex. Results revealed that tips and sets were different according these spatiotemporal variables of the attacking team: initial and final distances between the setter and the net, distance and velocity between the setter and the ball, and pass velocity. Only spatial variables related to the defending team were significant: final area and final distance between the setter and the blockers. In conclusion, spatiotemporal interactions involving the players\' behavior in the game environment were crucial for setter\'s decision-making of performing the tip. The relation between the two teams and the importance of their interactions were highlighted also in the two phases of rally transition. Spatial interactions were critical to determine the type of tip. Moreover, interpersonal and extrapersonal interactions influenced this specific setters\' decision

Spatiotemporal description and modeling of mechanical product and its assembly sequence based on mereotopology : theory, model and approach / Description et modélisation spatio-temporelle du couple produit-process d’assemblage basées sur la méréotopologie : théorie, modèle et approche

Gruhier, Elise 04 December 2015 (has links)
The major goal of this research is to describe product evolution in the three dimensions (i.e. spatial, temporal andspatiotemporal). In the current industrial context, product models are only considered from a purely spatial point ofview during the design stage and from a purely temporal point of view during the assembly stage. The lack of linkbetween product and process leads to misunderstanding in engineering definition and causes wrong designinterpretation. However, the product undergoes changes throughout the design and assembly phases. The dynamicaspect of design activities requires linking both dimensions in order to be able to represent product evolution andhave consistent information. As such, spatiotemporal dimension (i.e. linking space and time) needs to be added andrelationships between product modelling and assembly sequences need to be particularly studied. This PhD thesis in mechanical design draws inspiration from several domains such as mathematics, geographicinformation systems and philosophy. Here the product is considered from a perdurantist point of view. Perdurantismregards the object as being composed of temporal slices and always keeping the same identity whatever changesundergone. Based on this statement, this PhD thesis introduces a novel product-process description so as to ensureproduct architect's and designer's understanding of design intents at the early design stages. In order to achieve thisobjective, a mereotopological theory, enabling the product description as it is perceived in the real world, has beendeveloped and implemented in an ontology model to be formalized. The JANUS theory qualitatively describes product evolution over time in the context of AOD, integrating assemblysequence planning in the early product design stages. The theory enables the formal relationships description ofproduct-process design information and knowledge. The proposed efforts aim at providing a concrete basis fordescribing changes of spatial entities (i.e. product parts) and their relationships over time and space. This regionbasedtheory links together spatial, temporal and spatiotemporal dimensions, therefore leading to a perdurantistphilosophy in product design. Then, PRONOIA2 - a formal ontology based on the previous mereotopological theory - is developed. Assemblyinformation is accessible and exploitable by information management systems and computer-aided X tools in orderto support product architects and designer's activities. Indeed product design information and knowledge as well asthe related assembly sequence require a semantic and logical foundation in order to be managed consistently andprocessed proactively.Based on JANUS theory and PRONOIA2 ontology, the MERCURY approach enables associating spatial information(managed by PDM) and temporal information (managed by MPM) through spatiotemporal mereotopologicalrelationships. Therefore, new entities are managed through PLM, using ontology and hub system, so as to ensureproactive engineering and improve product architects' and designers' understanding of product evolution.

Automated spatiotemporal and semantic information extraction for hazards

Wang, Wei 01 July 2014 (has links)
This dissertation explores three research topics related to automated spatiotemporal and semantic information extraction about hazard events from Web news reports and other social media. The dissertation makes a unique contribution of bridging geographic information science, geographic information retrieval, and natural language processing. Geographic information retrieval and natural language processing techniques are applied to extract spatiotemporal and semantic information automatically from Web documents, to retrieve information about patterns of hazard events that are not explicitly described in the texts. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 can be regarded as three standalone journal papers. The research topics covered by the three chapters are related to each other, and are presented in a sequential way. Chapter 2 begins with an investigation of methods for automatically extracting spatial and temporal information about hazards from Web news reports. A set of rules is developed to combine the spatial and temporal information contained in the reports based on how this information is presented in text in order to capture the dynamics of hazard events (e.g., changes in event locations, new events occurring) as they occur over space and time. Chapter 3 presents an approach for retrieving semantic information about hazard events using ontologies and semantic gazetteers. With this work, information on the different kinds of events (e.g., impact, response, or recovery events) can be extracted as well as information about hazard events at different levels of detail. Using the methods presented in Chapter 2 and 3, an approach for automatically extracting spatial, temporal, and semantic information from tweets is discussed in Chapter 4. Four different elements of tweets are used for assigning appropriate spatial and temporal information to hazard events in tweets. Since tweets represent shorter, but more current information about hazards and how they are impacting a local area, key information about hazards can be retrieved through extracted spatiotemporal and semantic information from tweets.

The Spatiotemporal Epidemiology of Influenza in Thailand

January 2013 (has links)
This study is based on the assumption that seasonal influenza in tropical region correlates with climatic, geographical, and socio-economic factors. There are very few studies addressing seasonality and geographical distribution of influenza epidemic in Thailand, not to mention, study on association between influenza incidence and its contributing factors. The main objectives of this study are to 1) identify seasonality, spatial dependency, and spatiotemporal correlation of seasonal influenza in Thailand, 2) identify climatic, geographical, and socio-economic factors associated with influenza incidence in Thailand, and 3) develop comprehensive prediction models of influenza incidence in Thailand. The results of the study suggest that there is obvious seasonal pattern of influenza incidence in Thailand. The peak of the epidemic occurs in rainy season (June-July). The bottom of the epidemic happens in the middle of summer (April) and in winter (December). ArcGIS, geographical information system software, was used in this study to identify spatial dependency. The epidemic displays spatial dependency as there were 127 districts out of 928 districts having significantly higher incidence of influenza than neighboring districts, while 21 districts showing significantly lower incidence than neighboring districts. Rainfall, temperature, humidity, altitude, population, and household incomes showed significant correlations with influenza incidence in Thailand. Population is the most important contributing factor. However, correlations of all factors are weak to very weak. A GWR model was developed to predict influenza incidence. The variables included in the model are accumulated rainfall, and district population. The correlation coefficient of the model was 0.369. And a series of GWR models for each month of the year were also developed. The correlation coefficients of the models suggested that the monthly GWR models predict the incidence better than the general GWR model only in the months with high incidence of influenza (June-August). According to the finding of this study, we know that when and where influenza vaccination should be provide in order to control annual spread of seasonal influenza in Thailand. Although, the GWR model developed in this study is not a good prediction model, but it provides common ground for further study on seasonal influenza in Thailand and the region. / acase@tulane.edu

La perception et la précision spatio-temporelle : représentation mentale et production réelle de mouvements synchrones / The spatiotemporal perception and precision : Mental representation and reel production of synchronous action

Kafa, Aziz 02 April 2013 (has links)
Our study focused on the functional similarity between the spatiotemporal perception and production, in real and mental execution of ellipses drawing as a continuous and repetitive task.We hypothesized that the same motor task in mentally or real produced action would generate different patterns of movement (spatiotemporal precision) and different time perceptions.According to the results, it seems that the mental and real modes share the same time scale. The tempo has significantly affected the temporal perception in real and mental mode. Overestimation of time was present in both modes of action. These data support our secondary hypothesis "The amplification of peripheral sensory feedback is likely to facilitate impulse control time despite an execution of continuous movements. The movement characteristics (speed, shape variability, precision spatiotemporal) will therefore be modified by the presence of feedback periphery with impulse nature".

Troubled Waters: Georgia, Florida and Alabama's Conflict Over the Waters of the ACF River Basin

Wong, Johnny King Alaziz 01 May 2014 (has links)
Since 1989, the co-riparian States of Georgia, Florida and Alabama have been locked in an overt and institutionalized conflict to secure access to the waters of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River Basin. In 1997, in an effort to end this interstate conflict which had earned the reputation as the longest water conflict in U.S. history, public officials at the federal and state scales agreed to suspend all pending litigation against one another and concurrently deployed a dispute resolution mechanism, known as `compact negotiations,' in the hope of equitably allocating the waters of the ACF Basin. Despite proclamations by public officials, exclaiming their commitment to the process of compact negotiations and their desire to see an end to the lingering conflict, 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the bitter conflict over the ACF waters and a sustainable resolution has not yet been achieved. Against this background, this study provides an in-depth empirical explanation for why multiple efforts to resolve the ACF conflict have been unsuccessful and largely counterproductive. Using data collected from in-depth interviews with elite stakeholders and archival data parsed from executive agencies, bureaucratic reports and media sources, this study demonstrates that Georgia's strategic efforts to (a) rescale water management authority in the basin along neoliberal lines and (b) spatiotemporally displace demand- and supply-side management policies, have allowed Georgia and metropolitan Atlanta to achieve water security through a process of accumulation by dispossession. Finally, this study shows that Georgia and Atlanta's water security has compromised the authority of federal agencies to manage interstate waters, exposed the inability of the three riparian states to reach equitable compromise, and demonstrated the Court's express complicity in (re)producing uneven development in the American South.
