I denna litteraturstudie undersöks vilka egenskaper spel som används i spelbaserad undervisning bör ha för att motivera eleverna i deras matematikstudier och samtidigt främja deras studieresultat. Faktorer som elevernas ålder, tidigare matematikresultat och kön undersöks i de fall där det är möjligt för att se om spelets utformning kan påverka dessa grupper på olika sätt. Resultaten av litteraturstudien pekar på att spelbaserat lärande kan gynna elever, både gällande motivation och resultat, men valet av spel och dess utformning kan spela stor roll för utfallet. / This literature review focuses on finding out which properties a game that is used for game-based learning need to have in order to motivate students in their mathematics studies and at the same time support their knowledge in the field of mathematics. Factors such as the students’ age, previous mathematics results and gender are also examined, when possible, to determine if the core mechanics of the game are affecting either of these groups in different ways. The results of the literature review indicate that game-based learning can be used to enhance students’ performance as well as their motivation, but the choice of game and its design can play a big role for the result.
