In the context of the application of pesticides, application technology is fundamental to provide a good efficiency and prevent depositions of pesticides in off-targets places. The environmental conditions at the time of application, especially in the region of the spray boom, influence the process of drift of defensive. This study aimed to evaluate a device to humidify the environment along the spray boom, promoting reduction of losses during pesticide applications. In the tests we used a spray with a double boom modified to override a spray of water on the conventional boom. The sprayer was build by two tanks (reservoir), two pumps and flow rate valves independent for each circuit. To qualify and quantify the loss of defensive during application, artificial targets of glasses were used and the spray solution was water and pigment with concentration of 6,000 mg L-1. The targets were placed on 0.9, 0.6 and 0.3 meters height above the ground, that provide distances between targets and boom of 0.5, 0.8 and 1.1 meters, respectively. The environmental conditions were measured by 2 weather stations, installed near the field and a portable hygrometer, located together a target 0.6 meters height above of ground. The treatments consisted of combinations of application volumes (L ha -1) of the auxiliary boom and conventional T1 - 0 +40, T2 - 40 +40; T3 - 80 +40; T4 - 120 +40; T5 - 160 +40 and T6 - 0 +80 and three heights collection with 12 replications. In general, when distance between targets and boom was increased the tracer deposition and homogeneity was decreased with 40 L ha-1 of volume application. However the use of boom water spray increase the spray deposits and homogeneity, compared with no use of boom water spray. This shows that boom water spray, increases the pesticide deposition even with conditions... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

. / The present reserch had as objective to evaluate the amount of spray solution deposited on leaves of Brachiaria plantaginea (Link) Witch and soil in postemergence applications, where the population densities of the weed, the development stage, nozzle spraying and nozzle position angles on the spraying boom were varied. Three experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions. For the development of the works it was used a sprayer moved by electric engine, using chain drive, with variable and controlled speed, where were fastened an spraying bar containing four nozzles with distancy of 0,50 m each. The spray solution was pressurized by compressed air. It were used the nozzles XRTeejet (XR110.02VS) and DG Teejet (DG110.02VS) in the pressure of 2 bar. The experimental treatments were in randomized design with four replications. In the first experiment the nozzle position angles on the spraying boom was evaluated. It was used two types of nozzles: XR110.02VS and DG110.02VS. It was studied the angles of -30º, -15º, 90º, +15º and +30º and stage of development of two leaves. It was adopted positive signs for the same deslocation direction of spraying bar and signs negatives for the sense contrary of the your deslocation. In the second experiment it was studied the stage of development of three leaves. The evaluations were the same ones accomplished in the first experiment. In the third experiment the deposit was evaluated in different densities and development stages. The nozzle XRTeejet (XR110.02VS) provided the largest volume deposited by plants independently of the angle used when compared with DG110.02VS. The angle of incidence of +30º of the spraying jet, in the favorable sense to the movement, independent of the development stage, provided the largest deposit on plants. The stage of development of two leaves, received the largest volume deposited in relation to the stage of four leaves as the uniform populations as in the combined ones.
