Frequent-pattern mining from databases has been widely studied and frequently observed. Unfortunately, these algorithms are not suitable for data stream processing. In frequent-pattern mining from data streams, it is important to manage sets of items and also their history. There are several reasons for this; it is not just the history of frequent items, but also the history of potentially frequent sets that can become frequent later. This requires more memory and computational power. This thesis describes two algorithms: Lossy Counting and FP-stream. An effective implementation of these algorithms in C# is an integral part of this thesis. In addition, the two algorithms have been compared.

The aim of this work is an optimization of AHLL language compiler. Several intermediate representations of compiled code along with code optimization techniques are introduced. The main part of the work is focused on implementing these optimization techniques and generation of the target code in ALLL language. At the end of the work, the results achieved by new version of AHLL compiler are presented. In addition, there are also presented some ideas for the future work on AHLL and the compiler.

The master's thesis deals with biometric systems, especially these based on human recognition by finger veins. It describes some development principles of the new biometric system. It proposes some new approaches to the comparison of finger vein patterns and their fast identification in sizable databases. Verification is based on templates comparison by similarity and distance measures with proposed alignment approaches. The proposed method of identification is based on the combination of clustering and genetic algorithm. The second option is using the indexing tree structure and searching by range query.

Raytracing is a basic technique for displaying 3D objects. The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate the possibility of implementing raytracer using a programmable GPU. The algorithm and its modified version, implemented using "C for CUDA" language, are described. The raytracer is focused on displaying dynamic scenes. For this purpose the KD tree structure, bounding volume hierarchies and PBO transfer are used. To achieve realistic output, photon mapping was implemented.

This tesis are about the mutual relation between the woody plants and the city public space, more precisely between the architectural composition and its elements. Woody plants, particulalry the trees,are under the same aesthetical rules as all the other elements of the public space, but at the same time are the living organisms, that are under the rules of nature. The thesis present five thematic groups of information, thats are necessary to know for the design of the woody plants in the city public space. On the base of this information the thesis review the streets and the squares of the city Brno and prove no contradiction between the aesthetical rules and the rules of nature. Contrarily, they support each other. It proves, that the high quality city space with the woody plants, is possible to create only with the knowledge of the both rules and their aplications.

Cílem této magisterské práce je navrhnout a implementovat IDE (integrované vývojové prostředí), které zvýší efektivitu a bezpečnost vývoje pro SIMATIC WinCC Open Architecture. Tato práce je založena na výzkumu provedeném týmem z Technické univerzity v Eindhovenu a splňuje požadavky pocházející ze SCD sekce v CERN (Evropské organizace pro jaderný výzkum). Vyvinuté IDE je postaveno na platformě Eclipse, přičemž pro syntaktickou analýzu, linkování a sémantickou analýzu kódu používá Xtext framework. IDE nabízí také podporu pro nově vytvořený programovací jazyk, který umožňuje programátorům jednoduše nadefinovat šablonu pro konfigurační soubory používané WinCC OA. Interpret tohoto nového jazyka je schopen provést syntaktickou analýzu šablony a konfiguračního souboru a rozhodnout, zdali konfigurační soubor odpovídá šabloně. Praktickým výstupem této práce je integrované vývojové prostředí, které podporuje vývoj WinCC OA aplikací v CERN a periodicky provádí analýzu kódu těchto aplikací napsaného v jazyce Control script.

Der Einsatz von erneuerbare Energien und die Anwendung von Energieeffizienz spielt derzeit in den GCC-Staaten noch eine untergeordnete Rolle, aber das Interesse daran ist in den letzten Jahren gewachsen. Die Arbeit wird die Chancen und Hindernisse für den Einsatz von erneuerbare Energien, Empfehlungen für eine bessere Energieeffizienz und für eine stärkere Integration der RE in den Energiemix der GCC-Staaten präsentieren. Die Arbeit beschreibt die traditionelle Energiesituation und analysiert die technischen, wirtschaftlichen und ökologischen Gesichtspunkte des Energieverbrauches in den GCC-Ländern. Der Fokus liegt auf Anwendungen der Solarenergie und Energieeffizienz, jedoch wird auch kurz auf Windenergie, Biomasse und einige Lösungen für energieeffizientes Bauen eingegangen. Außerdem werden Vergleiche mit der Situation in Europa und der Welt vorgenommen. Es soll erreicht werden, dass der Energieverbrauch reduziert sowie Energieeffizienz und die Nutzung erneuerbare Energien gefördert werden.

Renewable energy in North Africa: Modeling of future electricity scenarios and the impact on manufacturing and employment

The transition of the North African electricity system towards renewable energy technologies is analyzed in this thesis. Large potentials of photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar power (CSP) and onshore wind power provide the opportunity to achieve a long-term shift from conventional power sources to a highly interconnected and sustainable electricity system based on renewable energy sources (RES). A multi-dimensional analysis evaluates the economic and technical effects on the electricity market as well as the socio-economic impact on manufacturing and employment caused by the large deployment of renewable energy technologies. The integration of renewable energy (RE) into the electricity system is modeled in a linear optimization model RESlion which minimizes total system costs of the long-term expansion planning and the hourly generation dispatch problem. With this model, the long-term portfolio mix of technologies, their site selection, required transmission capacities and the hourly operation are analyzed. The focus is set on the integration of renewable energy in the electricity systems of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt with the option to export electricity to Southern European countries. The model results of RESlion show that a very equal portfolio mix consisting of PV, CSP and onshore wind power is optimal in long-term scenarios for the electricity system. Until the year 2050, renewable energy sources dominate with over 70% the electricity generation due to their cost competiveness to conventional power sources. In the case of flexible and dispatchable electricity exports to Europe, all three RE technologies are used by the model at a medium cost perspective. The socio-economic impact of the scenarios is evaluated by a decision model (RETMD) for local manufacturing and job creation in the renewable energy sector which is developed by incorporating findings from expert interviews in the RE industry sector. The electricity scenarios are assessed regarding their potential to create local economic impact and local jobs in manufacturing RE components and constructing RE power plants. With 40,000 to 100,000 new jobs in the RE sector of North African countries, scenarios with substantial RE deployment can provide enormous benefits to the labor market and lead to additional economic growth. The deployment of renewable energy sources in North Africa is consequently accelerated and facilitated by finding a trade-off between an optimal technology portfolio from an electricity system perspective and the opportunities through local manufacturing. By developing two model approaches for evaluating the effects of renewable energy technologies in the electricity system and in the industrial sector, this thesis contributes to the literature on
